  • well he's from canada he should be playing drums for his team! i love him!

  • Comment removed

  • Just a normal day for Neil Pert.

  • you can't compare neil peart and travis barker because barker is a drummer and peart is a percussionist

  • @bigtarget9 Not really, he's a drummer/percussionist. He took drum lessons as a kid, and really didn't get into percussion until RUSH.

  • @bigtarget9 Not exactly; Barker is a drummer and Peart is a God.

  • The mini cymbal solo at 0:20 is absolutely necessary....

  • This proves that hockey is more epic then football!

  • he's so serious lmao

  • This is Canada in a single video. I love it.

  • neil peart has a vevo? where the fuck was i!?!

  • Great drumming, but for a REAL hockey tune, look up: The Bobby Orr Rush - Catch Me if You Can! This was the opening tune for the local UHF station that carried the Bruins during the 70s and beyond.

  • We are now waiting for Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson Vevos. Or no more Vevos at all. Both would be cool.

  • How does Bieber's vevo have billions of views, but Peart's can't even get 60,000.

    Thats fucked.

  • OMIGOD !!!!!!!!

    I WANT THAT JERSEY!!!!!!!

  • The most Canadian thing ever.

  • @TrejoDuneSea Throw in maple syrup, Crown Royal, and a Mountie riding a moose, and then its the most Canadian thing ever.

  • @TrejoDuneSea

ye all he need to be doing is drinking beer

  • NEIL I LOVE THE SUBTLE CROSSOVERS!

ALSO THE CHOKING OF THE SPLASH CYMBAL WAS TOTALLY YOUR OWN RYTHYM!GREAAAT JOB!

    YOU'RE MY HERO DUDE

  • Now imagine him doing this with John Bonham and Keith Moon

  • All rise for the Canadian National Anthem.

  • Rush and roll!!

  • this makes me not even wanna play my kit, thanks neil.......and this deserves wayyyyyy more veiws, travis barker aint got nothin on him!

  • There is only one thign wrong with this, the leafs! I know he's a Toronto boy but come on the only good Toronto team is the blue jays! GO HABS! RUSH ROX!! NEIL IS THE BEST!!!

  • Damn, I miss the REAL Hockey Night In Canada theme song.......not that CRAPPY generic sports theme they have now......

  • Did anyone notice "Rush" on his back?

  • Thumbs up if you're Canadian.

  • I never would have heard of Rush if it weren't for Neil. Thanks, Neil, for saving my life.

  • my favorite part was when he smiled

  • @nickjohn101 except travis barker blows.

  • CANADAGASM

    neil is THE MASTER PROFESSOR

  • The master

  • jizz in my pants

  • the drumming is good but he could smile.

  • @sarge777 Neil Peart and smile is an oxymoron.

  • @nailers99

    he he good one.

  • Lol.. toned the kit down... ROFLMFAO!!! He's got the biggest kit in the WORLD. As a matter of fact, he's got the MOST kitS in the world too. He has a Jazz kit, a practice kit, for concerts, about 300 mix-n-match drums and cymbals, electronics, triggers, and the like. He's now got the hockey kit, the concert kit, blues kit, jazz kit, travelling kit, practice kit, warm up kit and more. A lot of the bigger pieces of gear, like the glockenschpiel (sp) and the big gong are in the xylo now.

  • EPIC WIN! =D haters dont even bother theres nutten to complain about

  • OMG SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

  • Sweet.

Neil needs to ressurect the 6" tom. It makes those epic tom rolls from 2112 and YYZ etc that much more tasty.

  • What happened to the other half of his drum set?

  • @belgaerthethinker - That kit was specially designed for making that song, so he didn't need the rest of his equipment. That kit now resides in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

  • @belgaerthethinker He toned his kit down in the mid-late 90's. He realized that he didn't need EVERYTHING after he played the "Burning For Buddy" sessions.

  • win

  • I have counted 6 comments saying Travis Barker is better than Neil. Um..... No. Travis suck big sweaty donkey balls compared to Neil. Neil has been a top drummer since the 80's. How long has Travis been on the circuit? Nowhere near that long. STFU about freaking Travis Barker. He moves alot, and doesn't have much talent. He plays the same thing over and over. HE SUCKS!!! Why are all of these new drummers trying to be just like him?

  • @DeadtreeFilms1

I admire travis barker, he has some chops and comes from a similar background as me (marching snare, jazz drumset, etc) but Neil Peart plays much cooler parts, almost NEVER repeats himself and just has a much better feel.

  • @CGJ7755 I've seen Barkers marching snare solo. He is good, but he applies NONE of it to the kit. The video where he is on the flying platform playing a solo bored me to tears. It was barely any tom work, lots of snare+hi-hat+kick. When Neil plays, he adds flair and composition to his parts. I think all these new drummers want to be like him because he plays simple, easy music. So they pick his style up in no time.

  • This exact video is available on iTunes! I strongly suggest getting it. PERFECT quality, both visual and sound, plus then you can watch it everywhere!

  • rush-the only good canadian musicians. bieber-bad. drake-bad. buble-bad. celine dion-bad

  • @LlamaJudge Must be one ignorant yank to think that rush are the only good canadian musicians, Canada dominated the 80s.

  • @Chain1234 didn't know. what bands do you recommend?

  • @LlamaJudge Ignorance MUST be Bliss!!! Neil Young, Steppenwolf, The Tragically Hip, The Guess Who, Chilliwack to a name a few...WAYtooLAME2JudgeRU

  • @PlayIt4MeAgainSam Wow I forgot about all of those.  Never heard of Chilliwack though..;

  • Happy Birthday Neil! :D

  • This is infinity times better than justin beiber

  • the only bad stuff in this clip is the Maple Leafs jersey!!!!

beside that ,its a 5 star!

  • lol that was awesome

  • Yes pound on those damn maple leafs lol

  • Neil Peart is sooooooooo awesome.

  • neil is getting fat :(

  • @TeamUberBeast No, no, no, that's what I thought at first and maybe in this video he's a little chubbier, but he's back to his regular self and kicking more ass than ever before :)

  • @TeamUberBeast but he moves like Michael Jordan

  • he's the best!

hes hardly even trying here! But I love the crossovers i do that ALOT heh heh

  • to quote jack black from rush's documentary; "he's not even human."

  • "The heat of inspiration and adrenaline must be cooled by reason—restraint."- Neil Peart. Some people say Smith or Barker are better, though I respectfully disagree. Being a great drummer isn't about how many times you hit the drum or playing beats based on a quintuples. It's knowing the proper place and timing for a particular piece of music.

  • Reading the comments about this Travis Barker fellow compelled me to check out a couple of his videos, including the NFL thing. I'm reminded of something Neil Peart once said about Buddy Rich, one of the greatest drummers in the history of music: "The novice ( in this case, Barker) takes the easy and makes it look difficult, while the Master (Peart) takes the impossible and make's it look easy!

  • Haaaha!

    This is the shit.

As a Canadian, a drummer, and a Neil Peart fan, this is pure gollllld.

I watched the Travis Barker NFL clip (after seeing it mentioned in comments below), and agree with others that Neil plays the better drumtrack.

    Neil IS like a percussionist.

He's constantly playing on various parts of his kit, mimicking the assorted drummers in an orchestra.

In Travis's defence, he IS playing along side a DJ. ;-)

  • I've never seen him smile O.o

  • Neil Peart! Rush! Brilliant.. =D

  • He's a dumpy old man but he can still beat the skins better than most of the kids these days!!

  • EEEPPPPPPIIIIICCCCCCCC

  • It would be cool to see Neil play this on the Time Machine Tour, but I personally hope he has DW make him a Moving Pictures Replica kit :D How awesome would it be to see him jam them concert toms to the left of him once more? Anyway, this kit sounds amazing and I wish I owned it :D

  • @redx880 wouldn't really fit in with the tour lol, the solo was amazing, best concert i've been to, hope they do another tour and ican see em again:)

  • @redx880 we all miss the Moving Pictures kit. I cant remember off hand but i believe he still had the tubular bells then.

  • @redx880 the tour was so good.. and i think he might've put some of this in his drum solo..

  • @redx880 Man....any kit that neil plays sounds amazing and any kit of his i wish i could have!

  • @redx880 if this were on the time machine setlist or any setlist in the future, he may only do this in canadian cities

  • epic!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I like this Theme it's cool Hopefully flames will make play-offs!

  • So Neil has the Hockey theme.

Travis Barker has the NFL Theme. Hmm... If I were to compare, id say this was 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000x better. lol

  • @DJMaggotTheory travis barkers nfl theme was basic and boreing compared to this

  • @DJMaggotTheory THIS IS WAAAY BETTER BECAUSE ITS A CANAIDAN ROCKING HIS ASS TO THE THEME OF HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA WHO CAN DO BETTER THAN THAT NO ONE NEIL PEART IS HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA

  • @GranTruismo4head Or, should I say, the NHL on TSN?

  • @DJMaggotTheory anything is better than travis barker.

  • Hey!! I have that Hockey Jersey!! :0)

  • Hadn't heard this song, but when I saw this was coming to RB, I had to check it out, since I'm a big fan of hockey and an even bigger fan of Neil Peart.

  • this is coming to Rock Band hahaha, so sweet

  • your at a higher level than Iam with drummers, Bozio is a crazy good. Weckl has great technique, but doesn't make the hairs stand up like Buddy Rich, art Blakey or even the little I've heard of Gene Krupa. I'm a ROCK fan, and play Guitar. So Neil Peart was THE GUY. 1st time I heard YYZ was like someone threw a glass og water in my face.

  • So full of win. Interesting reading how this came about. Almost makes me wish I were Canadian.

Take that bullies from 50 years ago!

  • most musical drummer ever! this is awesome. and only drummer that can get DW to do whatever he wants!

  • best drummer of the last 35 years

  • Really? Don't get me wrong. Neil is the reason I play the drums but how many drummers have you heard? Since you are on youtube as you read my reply, you should search DAVE WECKL, STEVE SMITH and STEVE GADD.

  • I should have qualified that, Rock drummers.

  • Neil Peart is better than Steve Smith IMO

  • I am not sure what IMO means but are you a drummer? Neil is great but a guy like Smith is a master. Have you looked at any of his recent youtube uploads? His technique is insane and if you read on Neil Peart's blog on his website he discusses the recent lessons he took from Steve Smith. I grew up loving everything about Peart. He is the reason I play. Ever since I started learning from some great and legendary players I discovered, at least for me, Neil was just the tip of the iceberg.

  • IMO means "In MY Opinion". it's a matter of taste

  • @tarikghi Actually Neil is not just a drummer. He is a percussionist. We all think he is an awesome percussionist, emphasis on percussionist, and that's the way it should stay. Smith is awesome, but he can't do shit compared to Neil.

  • @crazydrummer444

Give me an example of what you mean when you say smith can't do what neil can. Do you mean stuff like patterns of 5 in the feet like r-l-r-r-l and he solos over it with patterns of 7 in his hands? Is that what you are referring to?

    Give me an example.

  • @tarikghi I've only seen the post Journey/Smith on my Phil Collins vhs where he talks about Buddy's first big band in the 1950's, Swinging New Big Band album, I think. It left me a little flat, but there was some jazz technique there. My drum teacher who studied at Berklee, where i think Smith studied, looked at Smith playing and just said, hey that's just class 201, I remember that, yeah, that's what they were teaching us. Smith seemed a little smooth, I prefer Rich, but I'll check out youtube.

  • @tarikghi Yeah, I like Vinne Colauita and Dave Wekl a lot. I really liked Dave's introductory vhs tape i had, he says he uses a lot of doubles. I love his high tom sounds. Still a huge fan of Neil Peart, though.
