Montana wouldn't have lost this game for the 49ers during the 92 NFC Championship game and it would have changed the Cowboys dominance during the 90's. This game set the tone for the Cowboys in the 90's but if you listen to Aikman in this game he said he didnt know if they were good enough to beat the Niners.
I remember this game like it was yesterday. It's my favorite Cowboy game of all time second only to the one they played two weeks later. At that time I had no real idea JUST how good the 90's Cowboys were. I honestly had a horrific feeling before the game that they would lose just like they did in '81. Glad I was wrong. In my mind the greatest Championship game ever and that goes for both conferences. Pure Classic. A true clash of Titans that you don't see with todays pussy ass league parity BS.

The NFL was so great back then. It's still good now, but the 70s-90s were the golden era. Rivalries were so much better back then. MNF on ESPN is horrible. Some of the announcers today are horrible. Uniforms were also better back then. I miss these days.

There were some tough calls that went against the niners, especially when Young hit Rice for a long touchdown and it being called back. Anybodys game here. The next NFC championship year, the Cowboys pounded the niners pretty good, and then the niners pounded them in the following championship game after that. Great rivalry. The Dallas Cowboys and the San Fransisco 49ers... the NFL just wasn't big enough for the both of them in the early 90's. Best combined talent, best uniforms, a true clash of NFC royalty, history, and split dominance.
This was the passing of the torch. The 49ers owned the 80's without no doubt. Sure they lost to the Giants in the run for their 3 peat, but they were still a solid team. The Cowboys were an up and coming team that wanted to be in the spot light. Ironically how the Clark catch is what started their dynasty and years later both these teams meet again in the NFC Championship as a new king was born. This is what sports is all about.
I have it on DVD as well, and it's amazing to me how in shape both these teams, especially along the offensive lines, and how well they tackled on defense.

I was thinking Jets might be in there too, but I didn't list them because I could not think of a second team that seems absolutely solid . I don't think the Patriots will be a part of the next great rivalry though since they will be going through a rebuilding phase. The other teams I'd look out for over the long haul are the Texans, Titans, and Packers.

I miss the old CBS NFL theme from 1992-93 (pure epic). Back then, less was actually more. Today, TV broadcasts seem to be more about the garish video game like bells & whistles (and catering to the ADHD mindset) than the storytelling aspect.
There are a lot of very good broadcaster in the history of sports. But just like back in day,that big NFC CBS game, I'm always taking Summerall & Madden. I'm a Lions fan, & the only time I remember them doing our games was the Thanksgiving game every other year when we played an NFC team. Maybe the '91 Playoffs when Lions played against Cowboys & the Redskins, but I dont remember.

Montana wouldn't have lost this game for the 49ers during the 92 NFC Championship game and it would have changed the Cowboys dominance during the 90's. This game set the tone for the Cowboys in the 90's but if you listen to Aikman in this game he said he didnt know if they were good enough to beat the Niners.

I remember this game like it was yesterday. It's my favorite Cowboy game of all time second only to the one they played two weeks later. At that time I had no real idea JUST how good the 90's Cowboys were. I honestly had a horrific feeling before the game that they would lose just like they did in '81. Glad I was wrong. In my mind the greatest Championship game ever and that goes for both conferences. Pure Classic. A true clash of Titans that you don't see with todays pussy ass league parity BS.

The NFL was so great back then. It's still good now, but the 70s-90s were the golden era. Rivalries were so much better back then. MNF on ESPN is horrible. Some of the announcers today are horrible. Uniforms were also better back then. I miss these days.

That was obviously the (main)turning point or the climax of the game, given that it gave the Giants the LAST POSSESSION of the game and set them up to kick a field goal. If Craig didnt fumble the niners would have run the clock out or left the Giants with little time left . That was the biggest play of the game. So no it does NOT even out. I remember this game very well. It was really either teams game. There were some tough calls that went against the niners, especially when Young hit Rice for a long touchdown and it being called back. Anybodys game here. The next NFC championship year, the Cowboys pounded the niners pretty good, and then the niners pounded them in the following championship game after that. Great rivalry. I have a feeling it's about to be renewed! Go niners though! ;)

This was the passing of the torch. The 49ers owned the 80's without no doubt. Sure they lost to the Giants in the run for their 3 peat, but they were still a solid team. The Cowboys were an up and coming team that wanted to be in the spot light. Ironically how the Clark catch is what started their dynasty and years later both these teams meet again in the NFC Championship as a new king was born. This is what sports is all about.

Yep. Things can't stay the same forever though. Nobody would want to see the same two teams squaring off in the NFC title game every year anyway. Besides, we had a great rivalry between the Pats and Colts in the AFC these past decade. I wonder who will bring about the next rivalry.

I wonder too, maybe Jets Patriots? I think the Jets can win 11-12 games next year and the Pats are no longer the powerhouse that they once were. They have contrasting styles of play and their coaches are polar opposites.

I was thinking Jets might be in there too, but I didn't list them because I could not think of a second team that seems absolutely solid . I don't think the Patriots will be a part of the next great rivalry though since they will be going through a rebuilding phase. The other teams I'd look out for over the long haul are the Texans, Titans, and Packers.

The Titans went 13-3, and won the division last year, and won 8 of their last 10 games this year after that horrendous start. The Texans are showing some life too. Be careful about how hard you laugh.

The Texans chronically disappoint, they were predicted by almost everyone to win the division. Yeah, that panned out well.... The Titans did win the division last year, but for the most part, they've been a mediocre team. Yes, they did win 8 out of their last 10, but I think that was more on inspiration than an actual increase in the level of play.

These were the two best teams in the early part of the 90's. Enough said. The 49ers were the team of the 80's with the "Late Great Bill Walsh." Much respect to him. The Cowboys, this was their time.

Ah yes....my favorite game as a Cowboy fan. This was payback for "The Catch", only this time, the Cowboy receiver did not get caught from behind to end a crucial scoring drive (Aikman to harper for 70 yards). Truly a classic!!!!

Well yes, Gumbel and Simms are the best and Pat & Madden are the second best, but what I'm saying is that I miss the old NFL on CBS theme from 2001-2002 and it's previous versions from 1992-1998 and 1999-2000 and it's on screen grapics from 1998, 1999-2000, 2001, 2002-2005 and everything else and when CBS aired NFC away games until Jan. 1994. 2003 it changed different (mainly the theme music and intro) and the rest in 2006, that's what i'm saying.

I miss the old CBS NFL theme from 1992-93 (pure epic). Back then, less was actually more. Today, TV broadcasts seem to be more about the garish video game like bells & whistles (and catering to the ADHD mindset) than the storytelling aspect.

There are a lot of very good broadcaster in the history of sports. But just like back in day,that big NFC CBS game, I'm always taking Summerall & Madden. I'm a Lions fan, & the only time I remember them doing our games was the Thanksgiving game every other year when we played an NFC team. Maybe the '91 Playoffs when Lions played against Cowboys & the Redskins, but I dont remember.
