To the person who recorded and posted this, why don't you have the guts to show the whole incident instead of conveniently editing from the point where he gets thrown to the ground. I have been to these kind of protests, the police always give ample warning, so much so that people get comfortable and start taunting them, and when the cops act, the people turn around and act like victims. By the way, it's funny to see in LA minority cops arrest a white guy and then the white guy cries foul. LOL

The admonition of Miranda has nothing to do with an arrest or a use of force against the person being arrested. The cop slammed the guy because the law allows the police to use force that is objectively reasonable to overcome the resistance of the arrestee. If the guy didnt want to be slammed he should have submitted to the arrest, got his little ticket for the protest and jumpped back into it.

It is a big myth that officers have to "read you your rights" before arresting you. That's not true. Miranda rights must be issued only when legal authorities intend to question or interrogate you about a crime. The fact is that these people were issued orders to disperse several times...up to an including 48+ hours prior. Well over half of the people who were there at the camp had long left 2 days prior when the initial order was issued. He knew exactly why he was being arrested.

I think that an important question is do police have the right to arbitrarily restrict free assembly and expression of free speech, as long as it is done so legally according to statute. Arbitrary subjective decisions about what is lawful or permitted, can lead to abuse and an unconstitutional suppression of rights.

Reminds me of 1933 Germany, while 1/2 the people starved the others prepared the war machine. Or is it while they slam you down, or is when they are backing a corrupt group like ALEC and removing free speech, or is it if they feel like it they can read your rights after they shoot you, hard one here.
