  • Lovely story and a hopeful ending, thanks for uploading and sharing it! I do love Catherine Cookson's stories.

  • Yes, staples...that was her dad helping her.

  • Love in all its complexities can happen under the strangest conditions.Perhaps her feelings for Nick did change suddenly; but for Nick, I think he loved her from the moment he saw her. I think she managed herself very well for someone trying to survive her circumstances. Quite frankly, selling the watch was a wise decision. You cannot survive on the memory of what might have been. The vision of Sep's memory in the end was his goodbye. He wanted her to be happy. She found it w/Nick in the end.

  • Is that her dad helping her with the refurbishments?

  • I wish that they would put in the credits the name of the singer of the traditional Geordie tune 'The Waters of the Tyne' at the end of this and other Catherine Cookson's adaptations, it is a beautiful song. There are several versions on Youtube which are excellent, mainly by children's choirs.

  • Thanks so much for posting this. I enjoyed it very much.

  • At least she get´s a nice guy in the end... I don´t think Larry ever loved here, she was just another mistress. Emily took care of him when his wife died and that was all he was looking for. Bit creepy Sep showing up in the mirror...

  • WTH? I thought she had just said she was never going to sell that watch, but then in the very next scene she's selling it up at the very shop it came from...???

  • the ending was too sudden. nick came too suddenly... fell in love with a woman who was living with another man and having his baby too...

these things dont happen that easily. upto larry leaving her it was ok. then the story jumps to her coming into money, buying a house and marrying nick.and i didnt like the ending.through most of the movie she is in love with larry and then suddenly marrying someone totally unexpected.

  • @khokhar1969 I agree! I knew the ending was unsettling somehow, and I think you're right that the main problem is that it happens too quickly.

  • Thanks for posting!

  • So, she is willing to see the "goodness" in a man who beats his wife, philanders with his ex and thinks nothing of bedding her but she cannot love a man who helps her when she is miscarrying or goes out of his way to buy back her most prized possession? Wow! Whatever can a reader think of such an extraordinary character!?!?

  • Aw Sep! <3

  • Nick should have left her after she rejected him.

  • Wait, what did she say at the end before "love you a lot"? I couldn't comprehend the word she said.

  • @Augiegrl12

She said, 'No, I could only love you a lot.'

  • @starfell86

    Thanks a lot!

  • Thanks for posting this film! I really enjoyed it.

  • Thank you for posting! :)

  • The film didn't do a very good job of showing why he loved her. It's a pity, because that's the most important part. Does anyone know if the book does a better job?

  • does anyone know if this wonderful movie been released on DVD?

  • Very good! The movies are getting better and better. Keep them coming! Thank you!

  • mr stewart reminds me of red butler ,gone with the wind..

  • @jminto88 No, Rhett would never ask a woman like her to marry him, only to be his mistress.

  • James Purefoy is so hot and so passionate.

  • The only issue I have is that there was not enough of a build-up in the relationship between Nick and Emily, in my opinion, to really constitute a marriage. More than half the movie was devoted to her relationships to the two other men and only the last 2 clips really dedicated to Nick. However, it was still an interesting movie so thanks for posting!

  • my biggest complaint is that personally, I do not think that there was enough time for Nick and Emily's relationship to really reach the climax of a marriage. There was more than half the movie devoted to the two men she did not end up with and only about 5 mins, devoted to Nick. I just thought there marriage was kind of sudden I wanted more build up between them. Though it was still an interesting movie, so thanks for posting!

  • I dont understand!

First she said seth meant her to have it

    The she sold it

    ???

  • @trinigir14 - I think Seth meant for her to sell if for her own use. She needed the money.

  • 8:30 I love Catherine Cookson - perfect ending!

  • thanks for posting the movie

  • wtfudge the guy in the mirror!!! haha

  • Oh my gosh...that last part with Seth in the mirror smiling was a tearjerker!! NICE!

  • it seems like Nick appeared out of the blue, and now they're getting married. Kind of a weird ending.. but I still enjoyed the movie! THANKS!!!!
