just read another few comments which infuriated me from larchmont08 who said ''and PEOPLE actually give a shit what he says?''
at the end bruce says 'thats my opinion and i have no problem voicing it, some people like it some people don't'
so basically, if you dont give a shit what he says they shit the hell up because he is obviously doesnt care, also, do you have any political knowledge, id be interested to hear?
people saying he doesnt know anything about politics may be right but he doesnt have to have a degree in it, hes an american citizen, america is a democracy and if he wants to cast his opinion then fine
if knowledge of politics was needed to cast your opinion then why does everyone in america get a vote?
I believe he has every right to speak his opinion no matter the subject matter. The fact that he is a musician, and more people will potentially hear his opinion, is completely unrelated.

what a dumbass response from Bruce, the people on cable news are idiots so its ok for musicians to speak up. the talking heads on cable news have college degrees in politics and are qualified to talk about politics. your some fucking rock star who thinks he knows something.
For a long long time musicians have been talking social issues and common sense as Bruce says here. It's nothing new. The press asking this question is stupid because they are acting like it is something new.
Helloo!
Bob Dylan?
The 60s?
Woody Guthrie?
To say that he has no right is foolish. The question was loaded and was as if saying that if you talk politics it could hurt you rather than saying what he believes in. What happened to freedom of speech hmmm?? Should we ONLY listen to idiot Bush?

I received the Springsteen book "For You" and I was really blown away... if any book can capture what it's like to be at a Springsteen show, this is it. The images are as good as concert photos get
I think he was being self-effacing, and referring to himself as part of the "present company included". The "That's called common sense" remark is classic Bruce. What a man of great integrity! Go, Bruce!
Hot or not, Soledad is one of many talking heads who routinely shill for Bush/Cheney to try to discredit freedom of thought and speech, and opposition to their illegal war. This incident reminds me of Diane Sawyer trying to humiliate the Dixie Chicks over their famous statement about Bush. Bruce was laughing at the absurdity of Soledad's comments and her feeble attempt to be one of the thought police.
With your Bush Derangement Syndrome you've totally misread this clip. Soledad works for CNN who constantly bashes Bush and "shills" for the Clinton's and the Democrats. She simply asked him what he thinks of OTHERS have said about musicians political views. She DID NOT try to control his speech, in fact it was just the opposite, she gave him a forum to spout his inane comments.
Ad hominem attacks like Shredman7's prove nothing except that the attacker can't make a good case. The increasing monopoly in US media ownership results in much of the press not doing its job of asking tough questions about government policy and actions. So they start questioning the need for, say, free speech. What Soledad asks Bruce is if he recognizes the validity, as she does, of the idea that musicians should just shut up and sing. That's a stupid idea and a stupid question.
why does he just giggle and say it's common sense when asked if he is political? he should explain it to her: -- "Did you go to New Orleans after Katrina?" -- "Have you ever seen a crime scene?". No? OK. But if you had ever seen one of them, you would know what the other would be like.
You're just plain stupid. How can you interject a pro-Hillary comment in a video where the subject is the (stupidity of the) iraq war, which she helped create with her senate vote...GO OBAMA!!!
Well anyway it's really ridicoulus: if i were antiamerican(which i'm not) i would surely be with Gerge W, he's destroyng the few civil right you had, is killing your sons and brothers in a war without meanining based on lies just for his convenience... if i were american(wich thankgiving god i'm not) i would hope bush to die, for all the innocent he killed without risking not even a little cut.

I like how bruce laughs at every question she asks because he doesn't know how to answer them. It's funny he didn't have a good answer for anything and he wants us to think he knows anything about politics? He's a musician nothing more...anyone who would take this guy seriously is a moron.
How is she dumb? She's a very intelligent, articulate woman who can definitely ask probing questions that people really want to know. See,that's what a good journalist/interviewer is supposed to do! As far as you hitin' it, only in your dreams, bud!
Definitely in my dreams, as I prefer slightly older, more intellectual women. Soledad asks the dumbest questions of any anchor on CNN. The only person on the network I've seen with dumber questions is Larry King. If she's articulate she sure doesn't show it on the network. Name one massive scandal she's broke or one prime example of journalism that sets her apart from the rest.
When he says "present company" he is talking about himself. He isn't high either. He's 59 for god's sake. He just has this nervous laugh when he is trying to be funny or whatever.
DO you also like how he dodged the draft, cheated on his wife with an employee and told his fans they could only come see him if they donated money to a political group that they may be against? How about how wrong he was with Reagan. Reagan turned out to be right. Bruce can write great songs and play guitar, but he has no clue when it comes to politics.
Dodged the draft you say? You mean like Bush and Cheney did?
If Springsteen wants to be selective about who comes to his shows, that's his right. Why would the man want to perform for people that are opposed to his views? Since most people mis-read "Born In The USA" can you blame him?
I'm not a fan of Bruce's music. It's too conservative for me, but thank god his politics aren't! So where is it written that a musician isn't allowed to speak his mind?
Wow.You are an ignorant poster. Pres Bush and Vice Pres Cheney served and or had deferment. Kerry tried to get deferment but failed. And Springsteen can sing to whoever he wants, but he claims he welcomes all. USA was misunderstood. But Springsteen knew it was and did nothing to change that,at the time because the money was rolling in.
You can couch it any terms you like, but Cheney and Bush did not go to Vietnam when they could have and should have. I believe Cheney said "he had "other priorities" at the time. Kerry volunteered for active duty and last time I looked was a decorated war hero. Springsteen never claimed to welcome all. He threw Fawn Hall (remember her?) out of a show once. He was the one that said Born in The USA was misunderstood in the first place.
Nice try. Look at your name. I have disagreed with many in politics but I would never have a name like bushmustdie. You should be ashamed of yourself, but your lack of class and morals will not allow you to feel ashamed for being so immature. Pres Bush served in the national guard. Are you saying they do not serve our country? You can have the last word, becuase it is obvious that your lack of education will not allow you to open your eyes. HAve fun with your low paying job.
he's not laughing at her he's laughing because it's absurd, that he has to sit there and explain himself about being political when news channels don't.
News in USA is not about news anymore, it's more about opinions and taking sides. Where I live, if a news program so much as refers to their own opinion about anything they would be lynched. There is of course nothing wrong with Soledad asking about these things, I'm simply referring to american news as a whole.
He points right at her with both hands when he says "present company included". He basically called her an idiot and then laughed about it. If it was bill orilley it would have been fine, but that was a pretty rude thing to do to such as sweet and pretty soledad. for shame bruce. soledad is SO DAMN HOT!!!!
He said "Idiots, present company included", if that clears it up any, in reference to the question of rock stars espousing political views. He's no idiot, and he SHOULD KEEP IT UP. Who else will question the president and put his ass on the line, Justin Timberflake?
No, he said "the idiots rambling on TV every night of the week" and mentioned pundits specifically. He was most certainly not speaking about himself.
Clearly, Bruce didn't call her an idiot. The person who uploaded this video is clueless...

So what's with the name calling?
bushmustdie2 4 years ago 3

Sticks and stones pal. Oh grow up! it's just a silly chatroom name. Typical Republican response, though. Making a big fuss over a side issue.
As for my lack of education and income, well you''ve got that one wrong.
Not only do I have a Masters Degrees in Fine Art, I'm also an award winning record producer. Oh I'll have fun all right...

I love that man! "saying that Bush should be replaced is not about politics. It´s common sense"
Bruce is my god from now on. And he laughed because her questions were incredibly stupid
buffymon 4 years ago 2
he is probably high all the time we should all leave the politics to the lobbyists and socio-paths such as the metal-hearted vp
Siavash1357 4 years ago
I agree that polititians are socio-paths but Bruce isn't that is why he should speak up

He's laughing at how absurd things have gotten!
mriley0223 4 years ago 2
he's not laughing at her he's laughing because it's absurd, that he has to sit there and explain himself about being political when news channels don't.
News in USA is not about news anymore, it's more about opinions and taking sides. Where I live, if a news program so much as refers to their own opinion about anything they would be lynched. There is of course nothing wrong with Soledad asking about these things, I'm simply referring to american news as a whole.

haha, he's so high. Bruce is THE MAN.
Sideburns1986 5 years ago
Bruce does not do drugs. He's talked about the subject many times. Bruce is THE BOSS and he writes a few songs about THE MAN.

He points right at her with both hands when he says "present company included". He basically called her an idiot and then laughed about it. If it was bill orilley it would have been fine, but that was a pretty rude thing to do to such as sweet and pretty soledad. for shame bruce. soledad is SO DAMN HOT!!!!
grgrgrgff 5 years ago
He said "Idiots, present company included", if that clears it up any, in reference to the question of rock stars espousing political views. He's no idiot, and he SHOULD KEEP IT UP. Who else will question the president and put his ass on the line, Justin Timberflake?
6699bossdaddy 5 years ago 3
I have no clue what he kept laughing about.
SuperJesus316 5 years ago
i think i'm Bruce Springsteen, coz he just said EXACTLY what i'm thinking.

He can say what he wants. He's the Boss, and liberals have the upper hand when it comes to talent.
roninscribe80 5 years ago 3
yeah musicians should shut up and just play.
yeah21232 5 years ago
And pundits should shut up and die.

Long may Bruce continue to espouse his political beliefs especially on war...
snorben 5 years ago 3
Yeah, I guess you're right.
jeffk27 5 years ago
I think he was referring to himself, not her.
jeffk27 5 years ago
No, he said "the idiots rambling on TV every night of the week" and mentioned pundits specifically. He was most certainly not speaking about himself.
