But is there a way to use Maya 3D paint tool and paint NOT based on UVs but on polygons...kind of like in Zbrush?

I also think there should be way...I don't see why wouldn't there be a way since you can do that same thing to Nurbs in Maya as far as I remember.

BTW I'm also still learning my myself, but I've been into it for about 5 years :)
