Isn't that what the Angry Video Game Nerd is doing already? He started from the bottom in 2006 as a youtube video producer and now he's getting 230k dollars in donations to produce his own movie. There is James and I'm also seeing a lot of bands have no problem raising tons of money for albums. I can only hope that as things like SOPA and PIPA keep on threatening the Internet that the masses will start to value freely shareable (creative commons) media and then content creators will start to say, "If I get X amount then I'll make this movie AND release it creative Commons

i love the internet right now because its pretty much unregulated and untouched by the goverment for the most part, its the perfect model of how a free market works. unfortinatly the goverment has its sights on the internet, and im pretty sure there is good reason you dont hear about the meny bills that get voted on the internet. the internet is one of the few things thriving in this bad econemy, and in my opinion shows you what the max amount of freedom and creativity can do

Their is some pretty great video editing software out their for minimal cost that is like Photoshop and if your good with Photoshop the effects for video are not that different. Plus we have the Independent film channel and some really popular Independent awards...news.dedlines.com

this is already beginning with youtube videos by corridor digital or freddie wong, and fanfilms like ones by bat in the sun productions. most of these are shorts, or quick one shots, but it will only grow bigger and bigger.

I have loads of software that I've thought, this is godo stuff and either donated a few dollars or brought their full version. So it's not such a far fetched model.

Interesting. One thing the everyday Joe doesn't have though is the cache of being a star. That requires money to pay the actors, unless as you indicate the actors take a punt (maybe someone who's got more than enough money or needs to kick start their career again) and make one of your CCM's. Alot of people go to the movies to see their stars I guess so seeing some nobody may not cut it.

@Fifty1stState Right, the idea is at first it starts very small. The same set of guys writing and then acting in their own movie. Until things start to take off and those same guys become stars. Then they could choose to stick together or branch out.
