Take into account that this was supposed to be an interview promoting the new movie. Was that even brought up? So Mel's forced by the publicity guys to do this interview where he's ambushed about this stuff that he feels like he's dealt with. Whether he has or not (ie "necessary mea culpas doesn't get what sorry is about) It's possible this interviewer has broken his word and is taking cheap shots. That would make him what Mel calls him.
I don't have a problem with the interviewer asking tough questions and Mel seemed to handle them well enough, where I had the problem was the interviewer got shut down about Mel's past problems and then all but ended the interview right after that. That only proves he was gunning for the tabloid headline.
