Celestion Vintage 30's are in the cab. As for the tubes i only know it has Sovtek 6L6's for the power section, not checked to see what the preamp section has, i've not changed them because i was happy with the tone anyway.

I use a Maxon OD808 (with the amps distortion) to tighten my tone along with Boss NS-2.

As for metal, i only really play metal so i wouldn't buy an amp if it wasn't going to suit my needs. And yea it can do a lot of heavier stuff.

Maxon OD808 and a Boss NS-2. Still the distortion from the laney though, all the maxon is doing is tightening up the tone by removing some of the low end from the guitar and boosting the mids slightly.

Gain and Drive both set to 7, Bass 7, Mids 4, Treble 6, Presence 4 and the Resonance Switch on and i'm plugged into the Hi input. But I'm using an overdrive pedal infront of the amp (Maxon OD808) which sort of smoothens the tone and also makes it tighter for rhythm playing. Hope that helps :)

Its a great amp, yea it has enough gain and for the bands you mentioned. I have the gain and drive both set to 7, if i put them both on 10 it would be overkill.
