  • Nice to see the full bumpers for Movie 38 again.... we had this station on our NJ cable until 1990 when it was replaced with TNT :(

  • @DanZero77 - Our cable system brought NY and other stations here in '78, but as the 80's went along, they began cutting them out, until by the end of the decade, there where none left. WCBS was gone before I even got the VCR in '82..

I loved watching all of the out-of-state local channels as they ran live back then.

Not the network stuff; just the day-to-day, moment-to-moment WCBS, WPIX and WOR local broadcasts. All gone. As George Carlin once said- "They must have found out that we liked it.."

  • Wow! I remember that Civil War chess set commercial. What memories! I however do not ever remember 38 carrying college football games back then.

  • @LowellDevil - Comedian Robert Klein did a funny bit on the Civil War Chess Set that same year, 1986, in an HBO Comedy special. He made fun of the "detail" in the faces- "General Lee? Could be Peggy Lee.."; "It was molten-lead 2 days ago..". And also the payment schedule per-piece- "You can sit down and enjoy a nice game of chess in the year 20-13..".

  • @LowellDevil In case you were wondering how the Bluebonnet Bowl between Baylor and Colorado turned out, Baylor won 21-9.
