This is actually the only battle where the taser can be useful, against the firearm equipped Alessa.

When melee-weapon equipped, Alessa can be beat by the Katana.

I've beat her with no firearms on hard, takes some patience and health to do it, but it's worth it.

Well, there are playthroughs (probably on Youtube, too) which include cutscenes and all.

But most of Silent Hill's essence is exploration. If there are any games meant to be experienced firsthand, they are Silent Hills...

You'd do best to wait until you get time to play the game rather than spoil it by watching a walkthrough.

@TheParanoidSchizo I'm a hardcore fan and I loved the movie. So please don't take it upon yourself to speak on behalf of the entire Silent Hill fanbase. The movie wasn't perfect, but for a movie based off a videogame, they did a pretty damn good job, especially with Alessa. She gets really creepy toward the end.
