I just wanted to point out that anytime you work on a Dell computer system you should be using a ESD Mat and Wrist strap. I have seen several upgrade and repair videos posted by you without the use of one. It is Dell policy!!!! I think if you are going to make videos and post them on youtube ( A Public Website) you should be adhering to Dell policy. In the least, say that you should be using a ESD Mat and wrist strap. You should also be Dell Certified. Anyways, have a nice day!!!

You generally can not use table top PC graphics cards in a laptop. Usually companies like Nvidia and ATI have specialized series for laptops. For example, the 100 series is basically the series 9 reproduced for laptops.

Nope... the keyboard is hiding most of the top end screws to the palmrest, and the monitor assembly is hiding some as well. Really... the M1730 is by far the easiest laptop I've worked on. I'm typing this on mine... had it taken apart down to the motherboard not half an hour ago.

and if you look closeliy you see that there

this does in fact void the warranty. so much as taking a single screw out of the laptop would void it and the same goes for a PC. But to avoid voiding the warranty just take out all components that you installed in it after the system purchase and seal it back up. no one is the wiser.
