@clanman011 it isnt hard it just takes time, i open my laptop every 6-8 months depends on when the fan really gets loud which means alot of dirt got in the way so i open it to clean it
well dell make after market video cards for the m1730 anytime, if not where can i find these beast of a card. well the 9800m gtx card faster the 8800m gtx
Thank you for this great how-to video. I am at this point trying to purchase this graphics card. I have spent 2 hours on the phone to Dell today and between the dozen transfers and disconnection I have 3 different prices for this item, ranging from $79 to $1109. I am confused and frustrated. Once I am able to purchase this card I will be following your video. Thanks again.
Hey I have a M1730 and its been having a tuff time handling some of the newer games that have come out recently. It still has the original NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS (G84) card. What is the newest video card that is compatible with my system so I can update this beast? Thanks man!
Where can we get replacement cards in the UK for this? my SLI isnt working and Dell cant get new graphics cards for me. Is there somewhere I can buy single card or sli to fit. Great video. eager to get mine up and running now.. cheers
I just wanted to point out that anytime you work on a Dell computer system you should be using a ESD Mat and Wrist strap. I have seen several upgrade and repair videos posted by you without the use of one. It is Dell policy!!!! I think if you are going to make videos and post them on youtube ( A Public Website) you should be adhering to Dell policy. In the least, say that you should be using a ESD Mat and wrist strap. You should also be Dell Certified. Anyways, have a nice day!!!
Hello there . I need your help . I just upgraded Vista Home 64-Bit to Window 7 Home Premium 64-Bit and it could't detect my graphic card . So i downloaded the driver installation . After the installation the graphic was back to normal except for some button on web browser and Msn emoticon . By the way im using NVIDIA GeForce GT230 . Anyone can help me solve this problem kindly send me a message or reply to this comment . Thanks alot.
@Wulingqunxia Hey the 64 version is very buggy just use the 32 bit its really stable never had a problem I had the 64 version and my ram was leaking ;// i have 4 and it only showed 3 gigs;/
AFAIK theres is only 1 laptop model in the world that enable you to upgrading that is dell xps/alienware due to its MXM/ PCI-X equipped laptop mobo..while others laptop is only for replacing your gc with the same model once broken..
You didnt change the card, you install the same card, I saw you hand even move to swap the new card, why you make a video doing that?, Second do a new video showing us the old card, where you can buy those cards etc.
You generally can not use table top PC graphics cards in a laptop. Usually companies like Nvidia and ATI have specialized series for laptops. For example, the 100 series is basically the series 9 reproduced for laptops.
wow rlly ppl r tellin me that if u open ur laptop it will b ruined 50/50 lol also ppl tell me that u cant upgrade ur graphics card,.. if ur rite my friends r retards
I have the exact same laptop, and I contacted DELL for a price of the same graphics card, and they said it cannot be changed as it is part of the mother board.but your video proves different.can you help me, from Australia.
Intel T9600 @ 2.8ghz...overclockable to 4ghz, and most important...ATI 4870 X2....yes, finally comes in a laptop. 6gb of DDR2 ram, 320gb 7200rpm HD. 18.4in 1080p screen. All for $2200 from newegg. This to me is the ultimate laptop for really good price.
the ATI 4780 x2 is right on par with GTX 295 desktop GPU. I heard rumors that Asus will soon release W90 will sport a intel QX9300 overclockable to 4ghz, 3Dmark06=21k
can I change the video card from my dell xps mM1210? There´s a bunch of games I can´t play because de the intel 945gm express chipset family....thanks...
Nope... the keyboard is hiding most of the top end screws to the palmrest, and the monitor assembly is hiding some as well. Really... the M1730 is by far the easiest laptop I've worked on. I'm typing this on mine... had it taken apart down to the motherboard not half an hour ago.
the laptop commes with 2 8800m in SLI and if you want to change it yourself it wil fit, because if you see in the vid there are 2 fans on the grafic card so the new 8800m sli wil fit the m1730 (i have them :p )
FAKE!! YOU CAN OBVIOUSLY SEE INVISIBLE MEN HELPING HIM DO THIS ESPECIALLY AT ANGLE 3.4 .2 seconds INTO THE VIDEO A WIZARD FALLS OUT OF THE SKY AND TELLS HIM EXACTLY WHAT TO DO!!! NICE TRY !!!! BUT YOU CANT FOOL ME!
I'll be honest, To me that actually looks fairly easy, My Vostro 1500 is pretty easy to open up as well, Nothing like trying to open an ultra portable, Those things are nightmares! I had a JVC-xv841 & just to change the hard drive I had to take off the screen the mobo the keybaord & palm rest.
Does such an upgrade void Warranty? If so, what circumstances would be needed to ensure Warranty is not voided. If not, what circumstances would void Warranty? (So as to avoid them)
this does in fact void the warranty. so much as taking a single screw out of the laptop would void it and the same goes for a PC. But to avoid voiding the warranty just take out all components that you installed in it after the system purchase and seal it back up. no one is the wiser.
Try doing THAT with a macbook =] good job dell, the first upgradable laptop. Do you guys offer the purchasing of both vista and xp on the same computer for dual booting?
Thank You DellVlog. Walk-through was very helpful in speeding up my take apart and replacing the videocard.
