@wby3006 Thing is son we are not a democracy, we are a republic, and if everybody choose their senator and representatives carefully we be in heaven, but instead people blindly vote based of the fact that the mans black or it's a woman or any minority and think it would be "cool" even if their politics are shit...
In Mitt Romneys detailed economic plan for his first day in office he said he would Implement Free Trade Agreements with Colombia, Panama, and South Korea.
King George III used free trade as a weapon of warfare against the American colonies to stop the colonies from gathering wealth. He took all the taxes off of tea specifically and was providing an abundance of the resource at prices lower than the colonists could get elsewhere. If free trade created wealth it would have done so in this instance. It rather destroyed wealth and resultantly caused the revolutionary war - which we prosecuted and won. Not new information. This is treason.
@dave19941000 either way, you think it would stop illegal immigrants from crossing the border? Its not about one problem being solved, its about the global industry and how corporations are going to keep taking advantage of the poor.. I hope the US adapts something similar to the European Union soon, would greatly diminish many of the problems we face here in America.
I was all in favor of the original free trade agreement between the U.S. and Canada that was passed in 1988. Canada enforces fair treatment of workers and has strict environmental regulations, so that was a legitimate free trade agreement - not an instrument of corporate exploitation as it became when Mexico was added.
First of all, NAFTA has been overall beneficial for all involved. This is indisputable.
Secondly, NAFTA is not free trade, it is government managed trade. The word "free" implies lack of state interference. This is not the case with NAFTA.
NAFTA was the biggest piece of shit that was ever rammed down the American people's throats against their will (70% of them were against it, yet somehow it still passed - does this sound like a true democracy to you?).
Everything Ross Perot warned about came true, and the "benefits" from it that were promised never happened. Even the Mexican workers are worse off now than before. Unless you were a CEO, an investor, or a lobbyist, you lost from NAFTA.
NAFTA did not benefit any country, it only benefited a social class. Wealthy investors and executives moved hundreds of thousands of American jobs to Mexico to capitalize on the cheap labor and unenforced environmental standards - then the manufactured product made a U-turn back into the United States, where it was sold at full price. Just look at the trade deficit.
For all workers involved, it did nothing but create a race-to-the-bottom. This includes the Mexican workers.
is a state ran medical facility the offers a living wage, that employs roughly 1/10 of the people that lost out when the factories left. Now all we have as far as jobs is Wal-mart and their spectacular enefits package. The social effect has also been dramatic. Rampant drug use, sky-rocketing poverty level, broken homes, mental illness, and an overwhelming sense of despair now reigns supreme. All I can say is thank god that the top 5% of the population can now afford the nicer things in life.
I have watched Nafta policies decimate my small town and basicaly turn it into a semi-third world place. We had several factories here that employed the majority of our population with decent jobs/wages/benefits. It seemed like over-night these companies demanded drastic reductions in wages/benefits and huge municipal subsidies for a promise not to relocate. In the end as i'm sure you can guess...... the drive for higher profits led them to break the "promise". Now all we have here -
Well im mexican and im not an expert on economical issues, but i think that if this keeps on it will be the economical doom for the united states, and lots of economical problems for mexico (canada doesnt count or what?)
If a free trade agreement causes loss of jobs or cut in wages it should be outlawed period. This does not spread wealth, just oppression. Stop socializing the rich.
The people with Thumbs up need to learn how Free trade works and go watch some Milton Friedman to see why most unions only hurt the working population and the consumer
@nagasnharpes We don't need NAFTA. If working people want to create unions they have the constitutional authority to do so. The government needs to stop picking winners and losers, stop subsidies and let the free market work.
LA DEUDA DE E.U. ESTA EN MANOS DE CHINA Y NO ES FORTUITO, SALINAS NOS CONDICIONO, FOX NOS ENTREGO (PENSAR QUE ESTABA ALEGRE EL DIA QUE "GANO"ELECCIONES...,) PARA LOS QUE NO ESTAN ENTERADOS Y LOS QUE SABEMOS UN POQUITOO NOS QUEDA HACER ALGO.......
The only way I support this policy is if they really will go through merging all three countries into having the same currency in the future to compete with the Euro and China, and if they will instill taxes again on foreign imports once the dollar regains its strength. I don't know if that is the goal of NAFTA but I would doubt it with all the greed in Washington.Question: Has there been a study on that ideology?
Thank youuuu sooo much though I lived in Canada and my English is pretty good I didnt get too much of all those stuffs written on Wikipedia and sooo on. Thx so much now I can explain it to my classmates greetings from Hungary ;)
Mexican farmers received government subsidies too. The problem was lack of education, corruption distributing the subsidies, to many intermediaries between the farmer and the product buyer, and narco taking over the small towns. I remember when watermelons used to cost like 6 pennies in Mexico in the 2008…
@ttiiyy You´re right. People in all three countries hate NAFTA. And you´re also right that it´s time to end the BS. Question is ``How?´´ I´d say 100% of politicians in all three countries are in with the large corporations who are the only ones profiting from it. Can any one say ``Egypt?´´
NAFTA is a complete failure and the only way to abolish it's WORK is to prohibit the SALE of those items produced in countries that are not named The United States of America... as it is illustrated Toy company moves plant to Mexico for cheap labor and re-imports its own product to sell to the United States market at $2.95 rather than $6 if it used American labor. Consumers must stop buying products from other countries. Too bad we haven't made a Television set sense the 70's
nothing wrong with a free trade agreement, the problem is that subsidies and taxation, regulation, wage controls is not part of a free trade. the evil is government control not free trade.
after nafta comes cafta and then the world trade which would never happen.all this trade is good for any nation last time the us had little trade it had a depression.we need to capture cafta before we loose it to the european nations which .we can iron all kinds of problems but alot of people make it worst.this is a nation of progress and going backwards would only make it worst.we need to resolve all this problems before it gets worst.so lets go full steam ahead before we are left behind.
first all of it has nothing to do with NAFTA. Companies would have shipped jobs oversees anyway because it has becoming more and more difficult to do business in america.
@vinndawg91 no because the cheap labor wouldn't have offset the high import tariffs that would still be in place without NAFTA. It would still be "less expensive" to use domestic plants, factories, and labor in the States than it would be to spend billions of dollars on a new factory in Mexico, and then import the finished goods to ship to market, without the import tax which NAFTA erased, it's not profitable to higher Mexican labor over American labor.
@nate1980blood But what's a corporation anyway, but a union of financiers? The "free" traders seem to be perfectly fine with unionization as long as it's unions of speculators and wealthy businessmen. But when it's average working people trying to cooperate to defend their interests together then that's really evil right
As a Canadian, I like NAFTA, as long as you Americans don't brake the deal you agreed to. And this sounds a lot like anti-NAFTA bull. This video dosn't take into acount the fact that by 2020, 80% of the US and Canada job market will for highly skilled workers (University graduats) up from 60% today, but the # of Universaty students will flat line, this will result in 97% employment for highly skilled workers, but about 40% UNemployment for unskilled workers (High school education only)
@rickbar123 you're right, dave is smoking crack. He's most likely from Alberta where they export oil to the US. In that case NAFTA is probably a good thing... But in my neck of the woods in Ontario we've lost a tonne of manufacturing jobs to mexico and china. BUT Americans are getting a good deal on our oil, it's estimated that Canada receives about 2$ of royalties for every barrel exported to the US. Last i checked a barrel cost about 90$
$26/hour plus health benefits and pension is too much to get paid to work on an assembly line in my opinion. Perhaps if the UAW hadn't jacked up wages so much, companies like GM wouldn't have had to resort to this to make a profit. Good video though! I am surprised that Gore, Kerry and Clinton were all in favor of something like this... it seems like a stereotypical republican move.
@sirkingsleigh Factory workers in China work for 300 bucks a month. A High School kid working at Burger King in America can not compete with that. China's workers are lossing work to Viet Nam, they work for 60 bucks a month. However Viet Nam lacks major infrastructure, this will slow job loss from China for decades. Talking about American Union Workers like that is a waste of bandwith.
Workers in Germany have 3 levels of Union type protection and beats China in exports.
@rickbar123 How is a high school kid working at BK in America competing with a Chinese factory worker? I'm obviously missing the connection. What I'm saying is, factory work should pay like factory work. It's not rocket science, it doesn't require a college degree, pretty much anyone can do it. Most college grads make nowhere near what union factory workers make, not to mention the benefits. If we're looking to be competitive in the global economy, we should start with reasonable wages.
@sirkingsleigh Tell me what do you think a competitive wage is for an American worker when a factory worker in China will spend 11 months working 12hrs a day 6 days a wk for 300 bucks ?????
Give me a number that you think is reasonable and competitive.
"It's estimated that more than 1.2 million mexican agricultural jobs have been lost to NAFTA, unfortunately for those who are unemployed, there haven't been near enough manufacturing jobs created to make up for the lost agricultural jobs."
@OverlordJake@Fatima74 Those farmers who cannot find jobs in the 'new' industry or compete against subsidized produce from the US turn to, where else, but illicit crop production. Waalllaaahh! Another component to the drug problem on both sides of the border.
You're right you should definitely overpay for work because. . . Then you can go bankrupt and have no workers! And besides people aren't people unless they live in the US heaven forbid we give Mexicans higher paying jobs... Idiot
NAFTA gives the American home land scrutiny the right to spy on our Canadian citizens, they just wish to put us all in their system & control us by making us subjects, it is better not to even put yourself under their control, get NAFTA out get American military/ home land security out of the Canadian soil. Preserve Canadian forest and land as well as our resources. Don't let them spy or impose any laws onto any citizen of Canada by ways of our Govt (traitors), future of Canada is at stake here
COMMUNIST, RACIST PROPAGANDA. IF IT WASNT FOR NAFTA THE US ECONOMY WOULD BE ABOUT HALF THE SIZE IT IS NOW, FREE TRADE BOOSTS GDP GROWTH. GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT BEFORE YOU POST THIS KIND OF STUFF ON THE INTERNET
Unbelievable. YOU DON'T EVEN LIVE IN THE UNITED STATES!!! Let me tell you what is happening, since you obviously don't have a clue...
Hundreds of thousands of good paying jobs are being lost, and maybe half or so are being replaced with shit jobs, with low pay and next to no benefits. It is getting to the point where most people cannot afford to pay their bills and support their families any more. Foreclosures and bankruptcies are at an all-time high.
hahaha. I might feel sorry for these auto workers if they actually lost $16 jobs. In realitiy they make over $50 an hour to screw cars together. Once people are paid the right amount for the actual amount of work they do, then maybe they wont outsource the jobs to Mexico. Abolish the auto worker unions and you would be suprised how fast the jobs stop getting outsourced.
Terrific comic portraying the truth. The speaker changing direction at the end after accepting the hush money reminded me of president Obama. Recall how Obama was anti NAFTA and China while campaigning and then his tune changed after only a few months in office and NAFTA and the global economy were the greatest thing ever.
I take it Burger King is providing all the high tech jobs that Clinton promised everybody. Americans sure are stupid fools for believing lying politicians!
Well I have to say, I wish I had seen this 2.5 years ago. This is extremely informational. People have got to wake up! Please, America depends on the people WAKING UP!
I find it impossible to believe that a nation with an economy as small as Mexico's could have much effect at all, let alone a large one, on the economy of the United States. The arithmetic is simply not there.
@ASAPLegal Is that supposed to be sarcastic? Look, you people have got to get over the idea that this nation's economic problems are caused by third world nations with manufacturing outputs less than 1/10th of ours. Mexico literally does not produce enough output to be responsible for all of these problems, or even a substantial fraction of them. We have problems, such as a low savings rate, poor education, and a crumbling infrastructure. But free trade is not on the list.

What many do not know is that the same shysters telling us they care about the environment, are the same criminals that sold us the economic, social, & environmentally destructive NAFTA & GATT expansion to the WTO. Al Fraud Gore was chief cheerleader for that. It allowed Corporations to relocate to countries that exploit their workers &the environment
No Carbon Tax which will make Gore&his Goldman Sachs pals billions of dollars
Begining May 5th and there after Cinco De Mayo, take a stand, boycott any business that hires these illegals, it may be home depot to a hamburger stand, if they are working at an establishment, take your dollars elsewhere. The time is now, spread the word. Ignore these Mexicans, let them know they are not wanted.
Soon it will be total war with them to preserve America, To deport illegal immigrants call

Communism and liberalism like Cuba and Florida?
Those who oppose Nafta are commies living in capitalistic countries. Commies hate and envy Mexico-US partnership & economic agreements because commies come from Cuba an enslaved, blockaded & subjugated scum island. Commies live in ghettos like mIami and they hate progressive cities like Los Angeles.
Don't suppose the commies used my tax money to save the lazy bankers and thier big undeserved bonuses? Let me guess ceo's and their million dollar bonuses being proped up by the U.S. taxpayer is capitalism.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Americans: What do U want ?
Nafta and North American Union, or Communism/Liberalism ?
Are U with democratic and capitalistic Mexico or with commie anti-american Cuba?
Those who oppose NAFTA are liberal communists! and many of them live in capitalistic countries, such as Mexico or the USA! they envy Mexico's capitalism and democracy and they are jealous of the Mexico-USA partnership. many of these commies came from cuba and live in liberal ghettos like miami.
When are u going to realize that capitalism & communism don't exist.... Both are an illusion designed to fcuk people over!!! Wake up and stop following isms and shcisms....
Definition of capitalism....An economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately or corporately owned and development is proportionate to the accumulation and reinvestment of profits gained in a free market...1) How can development be proportional to reinvestment if the economy is controlled by fractional reserve banking which is based on credit & controlled by the few? 2) Free market...Since when? The economy is controlled & the market is controlled by the few...
Definition of Communism- communism, fundamentally, a system of social organization in which property (especially real property and the means of production) is held in common.... This only exists among small indigenous tribes..The reality of communism is dictatorships..Chairman Mao and Stalin where the biggest en-slavers ever known to this planet... Thats why fractional reserve bankers such as those Federal Reservers invested so much money into them... Wonder if Stalin ever shared his property..
@badgerattoadhall... Its a turn of phrase referring to things that end in ism... isms and scisms... Examples: Communism, fascism, National Socialism, Religious extremism, terrorism... Things that people get suckered into following that are really designed to fcuk them over...
I remember thinking how great it was for other countries getting jobs for their poor defenceless people, but I was about 12. For the past decade, I have regreted ever feeling this way, because I felt like an idiot more than anything... I have seen lots of people (family and friends) lossing their jobs to outsourcing. Don't wikipedia this, google it. Wiki is something where anyone can add to it, and mentions that NAFTA is a great thing.
don'teateggs666 I have not found what farmers get payed, but I know that they do get payed for loss crops, and if they don't turn a profit. This has been the case for years, and I assume is kind of what is being done now for selling corn cheap in Mexico. Google corn dumping & us. Lots of newer findings are out about Canada being hurt from not being able to export enough corn and other stuff is out there too.
Can someone better explain the whole corn dumping part more simply? What is the money the government gives the farmers all about? How does that corn get sold more cheaply in Mexico?
@DontEatEggs666 American farmers get paid subsidies from the federal government for growing certain crops. Because of this American farmers can sell their crops for less money then farmers in other places who don't get Government financial assistance.
@DontEatEggs666 Mexican farmers can't compete with American agro-businesses because American agro-businesses are heavily subsidized by the US Government and have large safety net protections. Because American farmers can sell their crops at lower prices, the Mexican farmers are forced out of business and have to find livelihoods elsewhere.
Kind of ironic: NAFTA and all of the free trade agreements are the brainchild of ultra-conservative economists who spent college fondling themselves to "The World is Flat" and imagining themselves to be "atlases", and at the same time, capitalism itself will inevitably be put to the sword primarily because the idiots overreached and imposed NAFTA and free trade on the American people. You didn't think a system as fundamentally flawed as American 21st century capitalism could go on for ever..
Yall want people imigrizing into the USA? no sir, we gotta stop this god damn nafty now. The Imigrizers will come over here and take our jobs. the USA will be less safe to because all the islamisers will come over here from mexico and nuke the US.
In the END NAFTA SEEKS TO MAKE "certain" people rich and benefit. Remember the government is seeking to please the Rich not the poor. Look at history the government never gave a damn about workers. TRUST no one.
Did you guys know Bill Clinton signed NAFTA. ALL these people in power ONLY SEEK to help the RICH. They do not care about the average person. They give us enough so we dont rise up and unite. While they accumulate millions, billions and trillions.
@simontimon2 Well I'm for Global free trade. Yet I believe it should also be Global fair trade. Where in order to have these agreements you meet are wage standards to make it so the people there will actually have the money to purchase our goods. Look at how much factory workers in China and Mexico make and than look at the US. Which workers are going to spend more. So if we had a better agreement going we could get it so there workers can purchase more creating jobs here.
The people in Mexico who work in american Factories make ten times more then they wound on a farm.
Putting up fair trade barriers wound prevent factories like that to open in poorer countres. That wound slow down industialization. And more people would die waiting for industrialization.
@simontimon2 Than the factories move back to America and the jobs stay here so we can sell to the wealthy there without any tariffs. It's pretty much a win win situation on our part. Compared to NAFTA which is pretty much a suicide bill for America. And still some factories will move there, because of the minimum wage is 7.50$ and hour compared to factories in the US where you'd still probably have the unions working for 30$ an hour.
@simontimon2 Nothing I like the idea of free trade, but I feel we're getting screwed on it. They want us to trade with them, because we're there biggest customer so we can take advantage over them. We say if you don't pay your workers this wage so they can afford to buy from us increasing US jobs. We'll put a tariff on the goods that will take the product to what it would cost under if it was made with the restrictions plus 10%.
@simontimon2 Nope I only care about what's good for America. And what I want to do by creating restriction on how much they pay there employees when they sell to us would allow them to buy more of our products. Creating jobs here and at the same time bringing jobs back though a fairer trade system.
@simontimon2 Well I don't care about if there in poverty or not. I just want to give them a wage that allows them to purchase some of our goods. Also I feel we should allow experimentation. We have a vote to renew this bill every year and if it's not working good we don't renew it and we go back to old NAFTA, but we should at least make an attempt for a better deal.
@simontimon2We are going to achieve a better deal plain and simple. Through the Wal Mart style. You see we're the biggest customer from Mexico,China, and India. So we could say OK if you don't want to do what we want you to do by paying your workers these wages and a couple other things to make them less competitive. We'll put a massive tax on your goods. And find a country that is willing to do what we want. Wal Mart tells there people to give them the cheapest goods and faster. Same Principle.
@simontimon2 Well listen I could care less about other countries people, but I just want them to get a wage that would make it so they can actually afford our goods. Instead of just getting are remaining food at low prices. Listen I'm for global tariff free trade as long as it's done in a fair way which would allow people to purchase our goods like ours can purchase theirs.
@simontimon2 It's sad to say,but yes. Listen I feel we should have a trade system in America that benefits us more than anyone else. We should have free trade, but make sure that other countries have the same purchasing power we do here. This creates fairness and at the same time freedom. Overall I feel that it's Haitians should be concerned with Haiti and Americans should be concerned with America.
You do know that what your saying is called protectionism plane an simple. And protectionism was proven to have turned the ression of 1929 into a depresstion.
@simontimon2 Well I wouldn't say protectionism, because if there was a tire company here in the US failing. Do to another country making better tires I wouldn't want a tariff o anything like that. I just want more of an even playing field that also allows people in other countries to purchase our goods like we can here.
@simontimon2 Well I don't have much proof, but I think we should try it for about 5 maybe 10 years. And if it fails we scrap it and just come up with something new.
after NAFTA = slowly turns to even bigger trade deficit with Mexico
my opinion: pretty sure the tariffs were working. There are anti-dumping agreements out there and it is suppossedly illegal. This is how John D. Rockefeller got incredibly rich. He sold at a loss in one market to elliminate competition, and made up for it in other markets (Chicago)
First NAFTA isn't realy a freetrade agrement if it was it would be one page long and it would say free tade.
It's realy an agreement that's filled with thausands of regulation.
Secound what about the 20 million jobs that where created due to NAFTA.
Third the reason that theres a trade deficit is that in america there are too many taxes that pay for useless wars. so why invest in the US when all your prodits would be eaten up to pay for useless war?.
@simontimon2 there are no bills/agreements that are one page, there are always little things added to it to benefit special interests.
the national budget deficit means the treasury is printing money to make up for the difference in tax revenue...this has nothing to do with trade deficit.
Great cartoon! I think the White House and Capital should physically be moved to Wall Street so the persons who really run America don't have as far to commute.
Thanks, brother. As an angry, far-left Chomsky disciple, I truly did appreciate the video--keep making them! That giant sucking sound 'lil Ross Perot warned us about certainly isn't coming from a Tijuana brothel.
The Constitution gives us the power to regulate trade. I say we eliminate the income tax and all the other taxes and big government regulations. So we can tax goods being brought in and let americans make money.
I am an european but this is universal. If you want to understand the rhetoric of our politicians, just go back in time and watch the crap they shoved the last generation! I'm sure there was a lots of consensus over the nafta and that the debate was settle Mr Gore...
It's unbelievable that people never learn from their mistakes! Btw, Al Gore is a traitor first to the american people, and second the the all humanity! His global warming BS is going to kill millions in the 3 world!
My son has no job. He has no opportunites to offer him any wages. He cannot find work to support himself, let alone a family, he is 21, born and raised American. It is time for guys like me to call on guys like you to take 'revolutionary' tactics to correct this inequity, with extreme prejudice. I look for your feedback. A.C.N. Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and John Adams were... revolutionaries. What is good for Americans? Let us join, and fight for us. The revolution starts with us.

Rampant drug use, sky-rocketing poverty level, broken homes, mental illness, and an overwhelming sense of despair now reigns supreme. All I can say is thank god that the top 5% of the population can now afford the nicer things in life.
capt251978 6 months ago
I have watched Nafta policies decimate my small town and basicaly turn it into a semi-third world place. We had several factories here that employed the majority of our population with decent jobs/wages/benefits. It seemed like over-night these companies demanded drastic reductions in wages/benefits and huge municipal subsidies for a promise not to relocate. In the end as i'm sure you can guess...... the drive for higher profits led them to break the "promise". Now all we have here -

If a free trade agreement causes loss of jobs or cut in wages it should be outlawed period. This does not spread wealth, just oppression. Stop socializing the rich.

@nagasnharpes We don't need NAFTA. If working people want to create unions they have the constitutional authority to do so. The government needs to stop picking winners and losers, stop subsidies and let the free market work.

Statement first: 99% I am against NAFTA, BUT?
"I wish I was an economic expert"
The only way I support this policy is if they really will go through merging all three countries into having the same currency in the future to compete with the Euro and China, and if they will instill taxes again on foreign imports once the dollar regains its strength. I don't know if that is the goal of NAFTA but I would doubt it with all the greed in Washington.Question: Has there been a study on that ideology?

Mexican farmers received government subsidies too. The problem was lack of education, corruption distributing the subsidies, to many intermediaries between the farmer and the product buyer, and narco taking over the small towns. I remember when watermelons used to cost like 6 pennies in Mexico in the 2008…

Too bad we haven't made a Television set sense the 70's

nothing wrong with a free trade agreement, the problem is that subsidies and taxation, regulation, wage controls is not part of a free trade. the evil is government control not free trade.

after nafta comes cafta and then the world trade which would never happen.all this trade is good for any nation last time the us had little trade it had a depression.we need to capture cafta before we loose it to the european nations which .we can iron all kinds of problems but alot of people make it worst.this is a nation of progress and going backwards would only make it worst.we need to resolve all this problems before it gets worst.so lets go full steam ahead before we are left behind.
john5878041 1 year ago
first all of it has nothing to do with NAFTA. Companies would have shipped jobs oversees anyway because it has becoming more and more difficult to do business in america.
vinndawg91 1 year ago
@vinndawg91 no because the cheap labor wouldn't have offset the high import tariffs that would still be in place without NAFTA. It would still be "less expensive" to use domestic plants, factories, and labor in the States than it would be to spend billions of dollars on a new factory in Mexico, and then import the finished goods to ship to market, without the import tax which NAFTA erased, it's not profitable to higher Mexican labor over American labor.

The "free" traders seem to be perfectly fine with unionization as long as it's unions of speculators and wealthy businessmen.

But in my neck of the woods in Ontario we've lost a tonne of manufacturing jobs to mexico and china. $26/hour plus health benefits and pension is too much to get paid to work on an assembly line in my opinion. Perhaps if the UAW hadn't jacked up wages so much, companies like GM wouldn't have had to resort to this to make a profit. Good video though! I am surprised that Gore, Kerry and Clinton were all in favor of something like this... it seems like a stereotypical republican move.
sirkingsleigh 1 year ago
@sirkingsleigh Factory workers in China work for 300 bucks a month. A High School kid working at Burger King in America can not compete with that. China's workers are lossing work to Viet Nam, they work for 60 bucks a month. However Viet Nam lacks major infrastructure, this will slow job loss from China for decades. Talking about American Union Workers like that is a waste of bandwith.
Workers in Germany have 3 levels of Union type protection and beats China in exports.
rickbar123 1 year ago
@rickbar123 How is a high school kid working at BK in America competing with a Chinese factory worker? I'm obviously missing the connection. What I'm saying is, factory work should pay like factory work. It's not rocket science, it doesn't require a college degree, pretty much anyone can do it. Most college grads make nowhere near what union factory workers make, not to mention the benefits. If we're looking to be competitive in the global economy, we should start with reasonable wages.
sirkingsleigh 1 year ago
@sirkingsleigh Tell me what do you think a competitive wage is for an American worker when a factory worker in China will spend 11 months working 12hrs a day 6 days a wk for 300 bucks ?????

Definition of capitalism....An economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately or corporately owned and development is proportionate to the accumulation and reinvestment of profits gained in a free market...1) How can development be proportional to reinvestment if the economy is controlled by fractional reserve banking which is based on credit & controlled by the few? 2) Free market...Since when? The economy is controlled & the market is controlled by the few...

Definition of Communism- communism, fundamentally, a system of social organization in which property (especially real property and the means of production) is held in common.... This only exists among small indigenous tribes..The reality of communism is dictatorships..Chairman Mao and Stalin where the biggest en-slavers ever known to this planet... don'teateggs666 I have not found what farmers get payed, but I know that they do get payed for loss crops, and if they don't turn a profit. This has been the case for years, and I assume is kind of what is being done now for selling corn cheap in Mexico. Google corn dumping & us. Lots of newer findings are out about Canada being hurt from not being able to export enough corn and other stuff is out there too.
MrSeanselleck 2 years ago
Can someone better explain the whole corn dumping part more simply? What is the money the government gives the farmers all about? How does that corn get sold more cheaply in Mexico?
DontEatEggs666 2 years ago
@DontEatEggs666 American farmers get paid subsidies from the federal government for growing certain crops. Because of this American farmers can sell their crops for less money then farmers in other places who don't get Government financial assistance.
OverlordJake 2 years ago
@OverlordJake subisdies is the devil in the details. Most Americans have little or no idea how destructive they are to the US.
It how the illusion of prosperity was created by the socialists who run the US.

Those who loose there jobs because of NAFTA yell louder Then those jobs that are created from NAFTA.
simontimon2 2 years ago
@simontimon2 Well I'm for Global free trade. Yet I believe it should also be Global fair trade. Where in order to have these agreements you meet are wage standards to make it so the people there will actually have the money to purchase our goods. Look at how much factory workers in China and Mexico make and than look at the US. Which workers are going to spend more. So if we had a better agreement going we could get it so there workers can purchase more creating jobs here.
cpblackangel88 2 years ago
The people in Mexico who work in american Factories make ten times more then they wound on a farm.
Putting up fair trade barriers wound prevent factories like that to open in poorer countres. That wound slow down industialization. And more people would die waiting for industrialization.
simontimon2 2 years ago
@simontimon2 Than the factories move back to America and the jobs stay here so we can sell to the wealthy there without any tariffs. It's pretty much a win win situation on our part. Compared to NAFTA which is pretty much a suicide bill for America. And still some factories will move there, because of the minimum wage is 7.50$ and hour compared to factories in the US where you'd still probably have the unions working for 30$ an hour.
cpblackangel88 2 years ago
Do you even know what NAFTA is?
simontimon2 2 years ago
@simontimon2 Yes it's an agreement between the US, Canada, and Mexico that will allow tariff free trade between nations.
cpblackangel88 2 years ago
Well then what's wrong with that.
/watch?v=Z9csCerjfdE
simontimon2 2 years ago
@simontimon2 Nothing I like the idea of free trade, but I feel we're getting screwed on it. They want us to trade with them, because we're there biggest customer so we can take advantage over them. We say if you don't pay your workers this wage so they can afford to buy from us increasing US jobs. We'll put a tariff on the goods that will take the product to what it would cost under if it was made with the restrictions plus 10%.
cpblackangel88 2 years ago
Ever since NAFTA was enacted the standers of life in Mexico has doubled.
This is the best way to increase the standars of life in poor countries.
Don't you care about helping the poor?
simontimon2 2 years ago
@simontimon2 Nope I only care about what's good for America. And what I want to do by creating restriction on how much they pay there employees when they sell to us would allow them to buy more of our products. Creating jobs here and at the same time bringing jobs back though a fairer trade system.
cpblackangel88 2 years ago
Name one country in which doing that has increaed the standered of life From poverty to prosperity.
simontimon2 2 years ago
@simontimon2 Well I don't care about if there in poverty or not. I just want to give them a wage that allows them to purchase some of our goods. Also I feel we should allow experimentation. We have a vote to renew this bill every year and if it's not working good we don't renew it and we go back to old NAFTA, but we should at least make an attempt for a better deal.
cpblackangel88 2 years ago
And how are you gona acheave that?
simontimon2 2 years ago
@simontimon2We are going to achieve a better deal plain and simple. Through the Wal Mart style. You see we're the biggest customer from Mexico,China, and India. So we could say OK if you don't want to do what we want you to do by paying your workers these wages and a couple other things to make them less competitive. We'll put a massive tax on your goods. And find a country that is willing to do what we want. Wal Mart tells there people to give them the cheapest goods and faster. Same Principle.
cpblackangel88 2 years ago
Your forgetting that America produces half the worlds food.
America exports food so that we can buy cheap crap from other countriies.
those poor countries with high population get most of there food by importing it form america.
If your plan would be put into action, the poorer countries would no longer be able to export cheap crap so that they can import food.
Your responsible for having caused millions of people to starve to death.
simontimon2 2 years ago

@simontimon2 Well listen I could care less about other countries people, but I just want them to get a wage that would make it so they can actually afford our goods. Instead of just getting are remaining food at low prices. cpblackangel88 2 years ago

We should have free trade, but make sure that other countries have the same purchasing power we do here. This creates fairness and at the same time freedom. Overall I feel that it's Haitians should be concerned with Haiti and Americans should be concerned with America.

You do know that what your saying is called protectionism plane an simple. And protectionism was proven to have turned the ression of 1929 into a depresstion.
simontimon2 2 years ago
@simontimon2 Well I wouldn't say protectionism, because if there was a tire company here in the US failing. Do to another country making better tires I wouldn't want a tariff o anything like that. I just want more of an even playing field that also allows people in other countries to purchase our goods like we can here.

An "even playing field" when a politician says that it means I'm gona point a gun to productive peole and force to be unproductive.
Wheres your prof that doing what you say works?
Give me an example
simontimon2 2 years ago
@simontimon2 Well I don't have much proof, but I think we should try it for about 5 maybe 10 years. And if it fails we scrap it and just come up with something new.

fact (according to this video):
before NAFTA = trade surplus with Mexico
after NAFTA = slowly turns to even bigger trade deficit with Mexico
my opinion: pretty sure the tariffs were working.

@simontimon2 there are no bills/agreements that are one page, there are always little things added to it to benefit special interests.
the national budget deficit means the treasury is printing money to make up for the difference in tax revenue...this has nothing to do with trade deficit.
erickthegreat98 2 years ago
A trade deficit is when you export debt to import other things.
And Debt is mostly caused by war spending.
You could stop the trade deficit by ending the war.
The prof is that trade deficit exploed at around the same time as the war broke out in the middle east.

Great cartoon! I think the White House and Capital should physically be moved to Wall Street so the persons who really run America don't have as far to commute.

This maybe my favorite comment I've gotten so far on any of my videos about a real subject.

As long as people refuse to vote, or refuse to vote for parties other then the major two, things are unlikely to change.
