Shyamalan's comments near the beginning confirm my suspicion that he was trying to pay homage to Hitchcock's "The Birds". This guy really fancies himself the artistic heir to Hitchcock! What a joke.

"The Happening" really makes you appreciate how good Hitchcock was and how badly Shyamalan sucks in comparison.

I liked it. I like M. Knight's style. He tells a good story and rely's on the merit of the story to entertain instead of overwhelming eye candy FX. It reminds me of the old Alfred Hitchcock shows.

Interesting, but does it explain how they can lose all contacts? Like for example, in one of the trailers, the train personnel said to the guy, that they had lost all control of the train, and lost all contact. Is that possible with this gas?
