  • Hi Marty, First, thanks so much for all of the guitar knowledge you are passing on. I sincerely appreciate all of your efforts and please keep the jazz/funk and of course Jerry, coming. Quick question: What loop effect do you recommend?? Thanks and keep on rockin!! Btw, love this lesson!!

  • dude you're a master!

  • when u can play like that your always cool

  • i like the fact that marty is a fat pig

  • อย่าพูดมากดิ แปลไม่ออก 555555

  • is a davison guitar good at all im getting one and idk if its good

  • Too funny towards the end! Thanks Marty.

  • darth vader is using the force to play the jam track

  • Can you do a lesson how to practice triplet eighth notes?????

  • Your opening improv is fantastic

  • Thanks so much for sharing your gift Bro. I love this little progression.

  • Hi Marty , Thanx for best lessons ever

  • marty you beautiful soul we love here in Israel keep on the good work!

your a guitar teacher celebrity man cuz your good!

    other internet guitar teachers suck.

  • dont stop tech us!!

  • u r really awesome

  • this is AWSOME

  • I always new that Darth Vader had soul full of music.

  • First of all: THANK YOU, Marty!! This video was awesome and you are such a humble guy. And I laughed so loud during the vader and yoda dance. I love guitars, star wars and your homour! :) But I have a question too: I dont understand the c#minor7b5 and the F#7 Chord! I want to write soul songs on my own, thats the reason why I ask you this theoretical question.:) the c# and f# chord arent in the Gmajor scale. I dont understand how you could put this after the II-V-I progression. please help me :)

  • @BeatBay Hello, he is not using a II-V-I progression, actually is a I-VII-III-VI-II-V progression in the key of Bm, he uses C#minor7b5 because the II degree in the scale is half-daminished, and solves the the V7 dominant chord F#7. Great video!

  • @franklimon thank you very much, my friend! I understand it, but than I have another question: why the D9 Chord? It should be a D-Major(7th or add9) on the III, or!?! Thank you very much.

  • what guitar are you using and what amps / effects?

    love your tone!

  • what mode are you using for the solo?

  • 6:40 repeat button for the jam track !

  • well done

  • you're really awesome man!

  • Damn Marty why u show ya ass in the first three minutes like that lol

  • Marty...

    Thanks again...love this progression!

  • hey marty! i'm a little bit better than a beginner but still i'm not an advanced player yet. are there any of your videos (acoustic or electric guitar) that are suitable for me? thanks in advance!

  • ill buy your hat.

  • holy monkey balls this guy is really good

  • civil warrr

  • stra8 beast

  • Yes,Marty that`s what music is all about-just having a good time with it ! And you`ve got it,man! I know musicians, but they don`t seem to enjoy what so ever or just kinda hide it...I`m really glad that you teach me,evetough you don`t see me :)

  • HAHAHAHA!!!! this man is funny.

  • I jizzed

  • who disliked this? Rock on, Marty!

  • marty, that was some honey sweet lead at the start of this vid.

  • What kind of loop pedal is he using?

  • hes so high in this vid

  • Fantastic! Thank you so much, Marty!!

  • black belted in funk music

  • My Mind got blown

  • @twst1.....to continue, the minor scale provides a darker or harder sense to it, while the major, in the same key, will be a sweeter, lighter, happier solo. The C.W. players all tend to use the major, Blues players tend to lean towards the minor. The classic greats used both, sometimes even in the same tune! Clapton's Cream live Crossroads goes back & forth several times, and Hendrix's Red House does also, but that is mostly the Major 6th scale. Hope this helps....Steve

  • I FUCKING loved this! And this guy is monster high!!

  • Dude...hahaha....you just don't know what Blues is???????....You cannot play blues on a strat.........unless you're Hendrix!!!!!!

  • oh snap darth vador breaken it down haha. man great vid thumbs up

  • Marty, you are a God! I watched tons of your lessons and they really helping me out to improve ;) this is just pure awesomeness :DD can't find appropriate words just to tell how much I appreciate all your stuff! Thank you!

  • @GilbertasV He has helped me become the guitar playe i am today lol i have only played year and half but don't sound to bad lol he helps so much hes the man!

  • Marty es el hombre. El maestro de las galaxias.

  • Dude... I have problems with your previous video... this intro made me cry p.q

  • Very enjoyable. You're actually playing a D maj Pentatonic. This can be told by the fact that adding that G note you mentioned works well. Also by the fact that the Dmin Pentatonic also works well for a darker feel. Good lesson.

  • @SMart7751 great comment, can you expand on the dmin pent and how it lends a darker feel?

  • @twst1 Sure, and thanks for your compliment. The easiest way to expand is through a simple demonstration you can perform for yourself. Have someone strum a major chord, or a loop, or even a standard blues backing track of major chords. It doesn't matter because you'll hear. Start soloing in that key using a minor pentatonic scale. Then, after 24 bars or so, suddenly start using a major Pentatonic (also referred to as a Major 6th Pentatonic). You should easily detect a notable difference...

  • lolololololololololololololoolololololololooololololololololololoolollolooollolllolll

  • Marty is a jedi master.

Love Marty's Teaching, and i improved a lot with his videos :D

  • i usually have a real hard time getting into these styles, but i really got into this..... i love this progression it's one of my favourites. this really helped a lot thanks!

  • hey can anyone tell me what kind of bands or artists play this style of jazz? thanks :)

  • @kingpin2raw soulive. check them out.

  • if anyone is interested I noticed its actually just a ii v i in G followed by a ii v i in Bminor. It starts on the Bm which makes it less obvious but if you play it round a couple of times it will make sense to musos! very simple but sounds great!

  • @geobruf123 Thanks. I was thinking it was only in the key of G but was obviously running into some problems - that C# in there etc. Good catch

  • @geobruf123 Whoa, it is!!

  • ill steal that! thanks!

  • May the force be with you Marty.

  • that solo at the beggining blew my fucking mind!!!!!!!! could u please tell me what scale/mode u used over that?

  • I can listen you jam ALLDAY!!!!! THis... is why I love guitar!!! Pure Energy!!!!

  • dude enough of the pentatonic scales. i would like more advanced stuff than pentatonic scales.. go to modes or major scales or something.. discuss how to use the diminshed or harmonic minor scales.

  • He's free videos are more aimed to the beginner intermediate guitar player. If you want to go more advanced and learn all the modes, just visit the site. And get a month subscription and you can see all the modes videos and advanced lessons. The guy has to earn a living so he can't do it all for free. :) Sure you can understand that.

  • @elgazar19 hey theres nothing wrong with just sticking to pentatonic scale, look how great you can sound with just that

  • Am I the only one who think it sound like sunny?

  • Sunny!!!

    Check my video

  • Where could I see you live, bro?

  • Thnx for the great tune and explanation, your lessons are easy to understand and bring progress, greetings from germany

  • U ROCK!! thank you for this great tutorial

  • sounds like sunny

  • haha yoda and vader funking out

  • Thanks a bunch. You're the best out there! Your videos always help take me to the next level : )

  • Marty great lesson and many thanks. I love having a teacher that loves music and sharing it. On a side note you can also play the 7x7777 style chords with your 1st finger barring the bottom for strings and your thumb wrapping around the top of the guitar neck and muting the 5th string while playing the 6th. Lots of lessons out there on this mostly in the style of Hendrix and Frusciante. Difficult stuff but it frees up your 3rd and 4th fingers to embellish.

  • your a great teacher man, coming from london england thx :)

  • Music is the language of emotions, and in the same way that the elements of spoken language are often misused to create lies and other bad things, the elements of music are often misused to create false sentiments and other bad things. My christian goal is to find the absolute music of God´s kingdom in me, and the closer I get to my goal, the more I dislike both the old and modern music of this worldly world. When I learned enough about the elements, I left it all for to develop on my own.

  • @mikilavush God doesn't exist bro.
