  • Do you use hot custard or cold custard?

  • Where did you get the vegetarian fish filets. I have been looking all over for them since this video was posted and have yet to find them. HELP?!

  • I need to find that! I have been wanting to eat fish custard but vegetarianism has stopped me! Finally, I have an alternative! yay

  • I don't eat fish either......and I am allergic to gluten ( the breading ) .......=( I have never been so tempted!

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS!!

  • it's okay, normal fish fingers don't taste like fish either. :b

  • Why are ALL the coolest people in the world vegetarian?

    <3

  • Love it! I re-subscribed!

  • Fish fingers don't taste very much like fish either, so you might have had a more authentic experience than your mother.

  • You should eat real fish. It's good for you has important things your body needs.

  • @coltdeckard And so do a lot of vegetarian foods ... shut up.

  • HELL YEAH! Kayley's mum needs to make a come-back!

  • I am going fishing for vegetarian fish!

  • Vegetarian in the title, and the ad I get in the beginning is for Perdue chicken.

    What?

  • Your mom is a total milf.

  • Silly veggie.

  • @meluhneh it's like this dessert/dessert topping made from egg yolks and it's usually yellow, it's not a solid or a liquid (or a gas lol) and you can eat it hot or cold and it's pretty good (in my opinion, other peoples can differ severely from mine) and yeahXD

  • I tried fish fingers and custard a few months ago! I strangely enjoyed it.... haha I think I would actually eat it again if we have the stuff in the house :)

  • Are you gonna be putting up reactions for miracle day?

  • You should go full Vegan, I hear they get super powers.

  • Haha I think "Kayley eats things" should be a regular segment :)

  • I'm a veggie, and I've eaten some vegetarian fish fingers that tasted just like fish, not nice :(. I might try them with fish custard one day though :)

  • I've had veggie fish custard :D Was quite nice ^^

  • Yeah, I would think that the lack of fish taste does remove an element of the experience, but at least you did get to try it.

For me, it was like a slightly fishy donut. I'd actually eat it again, probably.

  • See, something tells me I'll never be able to experience this odd flavor (in full) either. That something being that I'm allergic to fish, gluten, and I'm vegetarian. xD

  • I recently found some fake meat fingers, maybe even the same brand, they were so good! And my mom said she liked them better than the real chicken. Veggie stuff FTW!

  • I feel like i always want sweet after salt or salt after sweet so this might be a nice snack for me... haha

  • I do not like fish at all. The taste and the texture are just not desirable to me, so I wonder if chicken fingers and custard would be my best alternative...

  • Thank you!

I'm a vegetarian too and it always disappointed me that I can't try fish fingers and custard like my two Whovian friends can. So now I'm going to the store, buying vegetarian fish sticks and real fish sticks and we're all making custard.

    You rock.

  • did you get over being uncomfortable eating on camera? :)

  • Also for the vegetarians out there who still eat fish, please stop calling yourself vegetarians you are a PESCEtarian not a vegetarian

  • @AmeliaO1997 I just don't think there was any fish in the custard, if anything flakes of batter got into the custard. The chance of fish actually getting into the custard in slim to none.

  • heh. fun stuff. it's also hilariously timed, cause guess what Dan had for dinner last night.

  • Really? You seriously can't put your fake fish in the custard b/c your mom's real fish left remnants?sorry but that a little overboard.

  • @smelialee One would think, regardless of whatever reason you chose to stop eating meat, that that reason would not prevent you from eating custard that is adjacent to other bits of custard that may or may not have microscopic fish residue?

  • YOU LOOK SO MUCH LIKE YOUR MUM!

  • You made my vegetarian Doctor Who heart smile (:

  • i want rosianna to do this

  • You should do more of these.

  • It's okay, I don't think fish fingers really taste like fish, either.

  • You're a vegetarian :(

  • rude words go here

  • I tried fish fingers and custard too, and it was pretty good!

  • I'm watching this on a omuper with no sound. Trying to read your lips but the only words I can read are Fish and vegetarian. But I already new its about that.

  • "Kayley eats things" should be a thing.

  • I actually tried this. It isnt actually that bad. XD A bit weird, but it was fine.

  • I think your mother stuck the fish in your custard so she could keep it to herself.

  • I really should try fish fingers and custard. Maybe on a day when my sister isn't home to say I'm crazy...

  • if you say you are a vegetarian because you don't like meat/fish then you could still put your 'fish' back in there. and couldn't you have bought real fish sticks since you didn't know they would taste any different?

  • I tried fish fingers and custard and I actually liked it. It was just like eating fish fingers and eating custard, except they were together.

  • @aimeelikescheese A pescetarian is someone who eats seafood but not other animals.

  • You need to get more custard on it than THAT! That was nothing! In the episode he gets great gobs of it on there!

  • I thought vegetarians can still eat fish, because my friend is vegetarian and she still eats fish. Unless it's up to the individual person whether or not to eat fish? I wouldn't know, I'm not vegetarian... I've yet to try fish fingers and custard, but I've heard it's not bad, so it should be interesting :)

  • ur mums hot :P (had to be said)

  • I've never tried fish fingers and custard but now I kind of want to.

  • @TARDIStacular But, the stuff Matt Smith ate was just breaded coconut and custard!

So he never actually ate Fish Custard.

Cudos to those that actually DO try it but if you wanna be like Matt, use breaded coconut!

  • @andyot7777 And that's vegetarian, so wahay! :D

  • @Babbe It most certainly is! *highfives* :D

  • hard for a vegan :(

  • Bookshelf of awesomeness

  • I've been meaning to try vegetarian fish fingers and custard for quite some time, but I'm having some difficulty locating the necessary ingredients.

  • i love your bookcase.

  • Where did you find custard? I've been looking for custard everywhere, but haven't found it.

  • @squidsquidx You can find it anywhere. Egg yolk, a small quantity of cornflour, sugar, milk, vanilla. Quantities aren't that important- about a quarter to a third yolk as milk and less sugar than yolk. Whisk yolk, cornflour, and sugar until combined and the sugar is dissolved, warm over low heat, add milk and vanilla (the milk is preferably not cold- you might want to warm it first), cook with very frequent stirring until suitably thickened (about ten to twenty minutes), avoid letting it boil.

  • @Flinklehurst Hey, thanks! :)

  • I've never thought that fish fingers particularly taste like fish. I don't eat fish unless its been breaded or battered. Though that might be because I'm Scottish

  • I seriously need to try this at some point.

    Also, your bookshelf is epic.

  • I'm a pescetarian, so this was always a possibilty for me. But I'm like you- the taste of meat is just very unappealing.

  • Wait... the reason you're a vegetarian is because you don't like meat in general (as in, no ethical component?), so therefore you can't even try fish custard? Hmm, doesn't make much sense to have it very strict if that's your only reason for being a vegetarian. If you're also in it for the, I suppose, ethical part, all the power to you.

  • I've been meaning to try it with mozzarella sticks for a while, cuz that kinda the same concept right? Cuz its you know, breaded and stuff? I dunno, cheese isn't exactly fish, but it's the closest I'm gonna get.

  • I'm pretty sure I tried the combination about ten years before Matt Smith - as with many others at the age of 5 :)

  • I don't understand that. If I didn't like bread sticks and was dipping carrots in my dip.

my friends came along and dipped a bread stick in there.

    I'd still eat the dip.

  • i am so glad you are not one of those 'vegetarians' who thinks it's ok to eat fish!

  • I love your mom- Mine would never try that

  • I've had fish fingers and custard twice now and enjoyed it, but unfortunately it's not something you can say 'Oh, I quite fancy this' and have it crop up of its own accord in the next week or so. :c It's special. And tasty.

  • thanks for doing this! i was kind of sad too when i realised i wouldnt be able to have it. i on became a vegetarian this year but i think i'll stick with it. i'll have to look for that stuff.

  • haha your mum seems fun! and you ofc ;)

  • I don't understand how you can't like meat particularly.. It's like as important as water in my diet in my opinion :L but I do understand the fish, fish isn't the nicest... But I really should try fish fingers and custard...

You and your mum don't look anything alike! I basically imagined you but older whenever you mentioned her in your videos :D

  • Surely since it's a fish finger the only thing that one dip would leave in the custard is the coating which isn't fish. So Kayley could have kept eating, but her mum would have had to wait until later.

  • I actually like it ! ( yes I taste it ! )

  • You have given me hope Kayley. I am in the same boat as you.

  • I'm happy about this because I'm allergic to fish. :)

  • I think April the 3rd should be International Fish Custard Day, because it's the day the Eleventh Hour first broadcast. And vegetarians can join in! :D I'm not sure about vegans though... you'll have to find a custard alternative.

  • I haven't tried fish fingers and custard yet...... maybe I should!

  • I've been vegetarian for four years, and I always go with veggie fish fingers and vanilla pudding as a substitute. XD

  • I have the same dilemma as a fellow Who nerd and vegetarian. My mother found a recipe for vegetarian fish, but it wasn't stable enough to be dipped in custard, and I gave up. I'll have to go find some stable fake fish...

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS! I'm a vegetarian too, and I was kinda sad I was left out of this craze :P

  • I had the same problem! Maybe ill find something similar :)

  • Some day I will get round to trying fishfingers and custard, that is if I someday get round to liking fish :)

  • OMG Lorelei Hyde! I mean whatever your mum's name is...

  • Brave move! Didn't look terrible though. Seems like it's only a couple of steps away from a creamy sauce. On holiday, I once had to try to explain to a woman in french that not only was my friend a vegetarian, she also could eat anything that was touching or had touched meat... Nightmare.

  • I'm a vegetarian and I have been since early 2009 so I couldn't try it but I'm going to find some sort of Quorn fish productthing and TRY THIS! :)

  • It really doesn't look like it tastes that bad.

  • Just does not look good :D

  • gosh darnit! so close to first commentor. (i hope i spelt that right?)

anyway i just Looove your videos:D they're always fun and interesting to watch. You inspire me so much, creatively that is. i don't think you realise how many people look up to you ^__^ <3

  • Yet another occasion where I live vicariously through youtubers. Although this one isn't something I'm particularly eager to try, actually.

  • love this <3
