  • wa dada dang wa da dada dang hey!

  • I think the reason why people have the bystander effect because they do not want the liability or time loss. There is a saying no good deed goes unpunished.

  • The amount of people around makes no difference, people just don't care enough to help. This world is filled with a bunch of douches.

  • @Glalie They do care, it's just that they think that someone else will do something, that's why these videos are so good, you learn that no one else will help, it's all up to YOU.

  • you might want to clean that room my friend

  • i hate when people talk about race...

  • @gearsow12 What race are you?

  • When I was younger I would not have gotten involved because I was scared or shy and didn't know what to do. Now I'm in my 40's...I either call local police, 911 if it is an emergency or if I don't feel I would be harmed I get involved. I'm not afraid or too shy anymore. More folks need to get involved with what is going on with thier surroundings.

  • I agree, social conformity is too much a part of society. I like to think I'm a non-conformist in a good way. Going with the flow is not necessarily a bad thing in my opinion, it depends on the situation. If I were in that situation you described or where I thought someone was in trouble I would definitely intervene in some way. Obviously you don't want to do something stupid, you want to do something very effective in dealing with the situation.

  • Bystander effect is a real problem. I saved an old lady from choking at a restaurant with 35 people in it. NO ONE DID ANYTHING. Woohoo I had CPR training and knew what to do. About half of people do not know anything to do. That still leaves 17 who did nothing NOT EVEN CALLING 911. The restaurant owner just stood there. That is exactly what will happens when any other crisis happens... wink wink...

  • I see Obama portrayed positively in the media constantly. Not sure what TV you're watching. Speaking as a law enforcement officer, the bystander effect is real. Most people are sheep and simply follow the herd.

  • you open my eyes ,yes i knew it was bad but daaaaaaaamm more people need to help others and notice that if you are well dress you are more likely to gat helped

  • 1:20 too funny!

  • The best book on this subject that I have read is Influence by Robert Cialdini.

  • Well ...

That was great to hear! And being Italian, it's good to know they're not all bad! :) (With the mafia and mafia-like crap.) The President of whatever time, is rarely seen in a positive light nowadays.

There is the idea that "There are so many people here that I don't have to do anything". The media teaches us not to care about each other. Plus, it's New York, and people would be scared and have been "burned".

  • Yer getting good at this DEM, I will be joining ya'll in a week or two...on workplace survvival, and economic survival without a job.. and new ways to operate professionally without that stress, or having to cater to the ambient nut case managment / customer demands that one cater to their error.

  • Peter denied Christ 3 times.

I guess it's human to ''keep out of trouble''.

  • of course you have to get involved...a child gets kidnapped and they walk by? Are those people crazy, brainless? And then they go home and see that a child has been kidnapped on TV and complain about society...sick sick sick.

  • I actually got choked up watching the video of the social experiments. Great fricken video bro.

  • yeah demcad i seen that same video with those guys they were gonna whip that guys ass lol

  • No matter what, I would charge in to help. Standing by idly as an innocent person is hurt is beyond cowardly.

  • I've gotten involved so many times I can't remember them all. Every situation you mentioned and never had any trouble. A lot of times it just takes one person to get the ball rolling but sometimes you are left dealing with it yourself. For some reason I don't want to be stuck with the "what if" question hanging over me the rest of my life and I guess I was taught by example from my parents.

  • aw, c'mon DEM, you don't have to prop your books up so we can see em, we know you are a well read man

  • @GoddaM777 It's my way of saying.....check these plays out.

  • @DEMCAD true, a little viewer interactivity---in that case, you should change it up with every video, course you probably already had that planned ; )

    You're the Man, DEM

    Peace

  • I will hesitate to help BECAUSE THERE ARE TOO MANY SHYSTER LAWYERS here in kah-lee-foh-nya. To me it isn't worth playing hero only to be turned on by the victim and a crooked lawyer looking to make a buck. There are too many cases where a good samaritan gets sued because he "didn't provide enough aid" or in the course of helping injures the victim.

  • great...i just spent time composing a message to send (slightly more than the 500 characters) and I get "friend locked" - you don't accept messages unless "qualify as a friend" - ugggh!

  • Demcad its scarey but alot of that depends on your gender maybe even your ethnicity, when a life especially a child is at stake everyone should drop all their bs but they don't. There have been men that tried to give lost children to store employees without even trying to leave, and the police come and press charges for kidnapping... A lot of people have their heads so far up their ass they cant let go of social stigma. That is part of the reason why people don't act, yes I know its sad.

  • @AlusaBird Yeah, you have to be careful.

  • Here in LA, I hear so much crazy stuff outside my window it's hard to tell when it's just playing around. Many times it's not what it seems. Kids joking. Sometimes I start processing in my mind whether I should actually head for the window or not. One time, the guy across my window was practicing for a play/film. He was RAGEing about how his gf fucked him over. At first the repition made me think he was schizophrenic. I'd hear it in spurts until I actually put 2x2 together. Damn good actor. lol

  • People like to make fun of the South... but I've lived here my entire life and I'll tell you most people will go out of their way to help you, especially in the smaller towns. Total strangers will lift up their hand off the steering wheel to wave at you as they pass you on the road. It's what I miss the most when I travel to big, impersonal places.

  • My friend fell off his bike and fractured his arm.. only person to helped him was a visiting German chick. This is in Los Angeles. People don't evey say "hi" on the street anymore, they're all afraid for some reason. I would help, but I don't think most people would.

  • I wonder how many people it takes to pick up a fallen plate? Would two suffice?

  • The solution is to have a high power laser beam down and focus on Uke and Nage to evaporate them both. Homeland security style baby!

  • take the lead ,, be proactive ,,and sheep will follow the leader once strongly urged and the outcome can be favorable or lethal,,,,,,,,,,,,instinct in natrual leaders is just that.

  • Large scale. People know Gov is crooked as hell. We are barely different than the russians now. Yet people do nothing because everyone around them does nothing.

  • Being a truck driver, I've been the first to call on many an issue. Wrecks, break downs, pedestrians on interstates, kids playing on the interstate, debris in road, fallen trees, road side fires and violent/aggressive drivers.

Here in Detroit near the house.. I've been the one to address people directly and getting between them & a victim OR to address the issue of something they had done before it snow balled madly. Nothing special, Just don't want any problems near my family.

  • I saw a guy on a motorocycle trying to run over some kids in our neighboorhood. They were egging him on. Im not going to lie. I didn't do anything. I was walking my dog who could have gotten loose. Besides he drove off and I think they knew him.

  • @skyding8962

sky you are so full of it.

  • @Anothercoilgun

Awww still pissy because of my last comment?

  • You bet i would intervene.. this one girl i knew at a birthday party (this was at a school) maybe 400 people were there, alot sitting down at these cafeteria tables..anyway this girlfriend i knew walks into the cafeteria drops a whole plate of food, i IMMEDIATELY got up gave a helping hand picked up the food and threw it the garbage.. i got a hug, and big thanks on my myspace later on lol she said "i'm glad u helped out cause every other guy was being dumbasses lol

  • @hiphopspriority30

So the guy that would have gotten up after you but seen you already "handled the situation" is also a dumbass. This is not a kidnapping. The dumbass are those who demand that others do for them yet would never lift a fucking finger to do for others.

  • I guess that's true, but you have to understand that lots of little kids shout things like that. About 9 years ago, my sister asked me to watch after her kid in the airport and she started screaming "get away from me!! You're not my dad!! Where's my mom!!!"

Its really scary when that happens!

Anyway, I think the bystander effect may have some effect on a person, but I've also been on a train where a guy ran off with some woman's purse and 4 or 5 random guys beat the living crap out of him!

  • People just watch as hundreds of thousands die. Excellent brainwashing.

  • Why do you keep calling obama black? You blacks are so desperate to make him black you call him black. Last I checked he wasn't black.

  • @skyding8962

I am not desperate for shit.

  • thx demcad for doing this video I hope more people get a chance to see this

  • It's a good point about people fearing for their lives. If they help that person, is it a setup? Are they going to get robbed, or worse? Now, if more people were armed, criminals would have less success at such things, and people would be more inclined to stop and help someone they don't know.

So I guess what I'm saying is, law-abiding citizens need more guns. :)

  • Thats why they say rule number 1 of survival is too relay on yourself and know how strangers are unpredictable and the america people are numb to pain.

  • @theabomation We are not numb we are walking targets there are so many things that can happen stopping to help if we make the wrong decision we can be sued or worse we could be responsible for someones death I don;t think I could live with that but we are open to ambush too when we stop the entire thing could be a rouse to take your equipment and use it to steal freight.

  • When you take CPR classes, they tell you to directly point someone out, to call 911 "You call 911."

They said if you just say "someone call 9/11" people won't feel it's their responsibility, and no one may call.

  • i would assume it was a hoax

  • good vlog

    appreciate the link

    much respect

    rage

  • Reg, as I said last time, society (starting from Public School) is molded to be oblivious. I know because that used to be me. I couldn't see a crisis happening even if it was right in front of me. I couldn't tell a sleeping hobo from a dying one. It's usually not obvious. Sometimes it is.

There's also shock factor. It's not a small thing, in fact it can make all the difference. It can be several seconds or more for you to be like "Huh?" when things are occurring in fractions of a second.

  • sheep

  • cont.. and saw baby seats and babies coming out of the back of the van. we both jumped out, grabbed coats and blankets out of our car..called 911 and sat with the family until help arrived. it is carved in my mind...

  • betrayal whats that book about??

  • @GamingExtreme187 It's a dramatic play about two couple told from the ending to the beginning.

  • i have stopped to help people....but i am so cautious, i will hand them my phone or offer to call a number for them...never getting within arms reach. i have never found anyone on the ground...mostly broken down on the highway type of things. i have also called 911 and given milepost markers for vehicles/people needing help. it is a murky pond to step into these days. years ago, i picked up hitchhikers without a second thought.......no more....the most frightening for me was watching..cont.

  • I have some experience with this myself.

  • I tried to talk 2 guys out of a fight o/s a bar and one of the guys psycho girlfriends screamed at me for trying to break it up. Then the furious, psycho slut tried to have her boyfriend attack me. I guess she wanted to see blood to make her feel more desirable. Makes me wonder what kind of kinky sh$t she's into at home! Truth be told, they're all wacked.

  • lol. Obama. I am ex-military and a part time security guard. I look for those kind of situations. For a long time I have wanted to be at Walmart or something and a shoplifter is running from the store so I could body slam him. I regularly look for people on the side of the road that need help. Usually people already have thier cell phones out calling family or friends for help so there is nothing lef for you to do. I regularly give rides to hitch hikers and give people money on the street.

  • Demcad I use to stop help people until I evaluated the trouble I have had in my life and the largest amount of trouble I have ever had with people had been when I helped others. There is a saying "no good deed goes unpunished" it is true you stop and help and you get sued or the entire thing was staged to trap someone that would help. I use to stop help people on the road would stop at accidents and assist but in the chemical industry they tell you better to keep on cause we are targets for suit

  • That Crap Happens all the Time....Brain Dead PEOPLE

  • Hey man, watch "The Sheepdog Concept" by Nutnfancy if you havent allready seen it. Make a video and let us know what you think.

  • My father went to look at a house that was for sale last year. When we were looking around one of the bedroom doors were locked. After we managed to open the door there was a young couple inside. It was almost christmas so my father let them stay in one of his vacant apartments until social services sorted things out (furnisged with utilities).

Within two weeks the cops were there because they were constantly fighting/drinking. The last straw was when one of them started the bed on fire.

  • Saw it in person years ago. I was out for a walk in a cold winters day. There was a man laying on an icy sidewalk. As I got closer saw 2 people actually Step over him. I stopped put my coat over and had to ask someone to go into the nearby building to call an ambulance.(before cell phones) He was Dressed in a suit there were a lot of people around. I just dont understand people.

  • Perfect example on large scale conformity is the BP oil spill wemeaning the sheep just seem to let it go and not get mad about it except it as a ok thing .

  • Yeah the little girl, I'd get involved no doubt. I don't care how many were standing around.

  • i dont think there is a bystander effect just a pride effect or selfishness

  • @altoids79762 I was thinking more like the 'herd effect' where people are more likely to just go with whatever the crowd is doing, even though they would be more likely to do something else when left alone.

  • @chiyerano yeah now i remember ,once i was 12 and i saw a car swerve and go all crazy to the drive thru of taco villa and a big black man came out of the passeger side of the car yelling and hitting the driver side and i was scared so i just left.now im not so sure of my morals

  • Isn't that risk worth helping someone though?

  • Yes, people are more likely to respond to such situations if the person being attacked screamed 'fire! fire!'. Also what you said reminds me of something I saw on the Discovery channel in a program where there is a store with some merchandise on fire and as the items are burning, people continue walking around into and out of the store like business as usual without doing anything about the fire and this continues even when the store becomes filled with smoke and the alarms are going off.

  • dem dizzle..

  • What if the person has a gun? Then your killed and then 2 people are going to die as a result.

The BEST option is if you have a car you follow the person and call the cops on your cell phone. If your not near a car you get on the cellphone and call the police and maybe run after the vehicle as far as you can so you can track where its going until the cops get there.

  • @skyding8962 what if you have a gun? we do have a 2nd amendment for a reason

  • @skyding8962 Or you be realistic and solve the immediate crisis, because it is immediate as in by the time you open your phone it's too late, much less call, get through, explain it, then wait 10 minutes for the cops. We're talking fractions of a second here changing everything.

It's better than doing nothing, for sure, but I highly doubt the consistent effectiveness of such a tactic. It's a personal decision, but if you truly wish to be of assistance, a gun should be part of your person.

  • glad I subscribed to you demcad , cheers

  • was watchig ....

all the markets turn red ..

    exactly at 3pm est

    like clock work

    these guys and their egos

it will be their undoing ..

    play hard guys ..

    long parsnips

    short the rest

  • I stay to my own it's safer.

If Demcad was having a stroke and needed mouth to mouth and collapsed right in front of me I would not perform CPR on him.

If Demcad was eating BBQ ribs and chocked on a bone and needed me to squeeze his belly so he could breath again I would walk past.. pretend I didn't notice and continue eating my Dinner.

    JK =P

  • my stepdaughter is always telling me I'm not her father.

  • @drmellow1 and you reply thats right im not, which means i dont have to shell out cash for you to go buy clothes and makeup and take you to the mall to hang out with your friends, i aint yo daddy, go find yo deadbeat daddy and maybe he'll give you some money and a ride to the mall, not me though, since i aint yo daddy..

  • @drmellow1 need to get you an electrical cattle-prod. She says that, you say "what?". If she repeats it you bust it out an pop her one! Then ask her again. If she still says you aren't her father, repeat until she gets it....JK, I love cattle-prods for negative re-enforcement! :-)

    -Oz

  • we're now trained to think the government will help.

  • If i saw somebody who was in peril in public i would help them, unless someone else already had, or somebody bigger and better than me was going to help.

  • Just like everyone goes to mcdonalds, lol

  • This effect is because of liberals teaching the public that they will only make things worse if they try to help. To them, ordinary people are too stupid to make good calls about helping a fellow human in need. There IS a level of risk, but that can't be stopped.

  • Thanks Demcad. I learn alot from you.

  • Good point and thanks for pointing it out. All the factors that you stated run through my mind. If I see what looks like a husband and wife argument. Not my problem. But in the situation that played out I would be asking questions.

  • i would respond by my gut feeling,if you listen to that it will guide you in most cases, but all in all getting involved is always a risk.but so is life

  • I think it's desensitizing due to all the crap we watch on TV/Movies. There is a strong spiritual Satanic attack on the minds of our people and they don't even know it.

  • @RicoRicanNYC i agree

  • I thought that is was called "shared responsibility" a situation where the more people are present, the more the responsibility is shared, and the less likely the individual feels compelled.

If a girl was yelling "you are not my father" I would never intervene, the man is more likely to be a foster parent or Mom's boyfriend. What kind of problem would you put yourself in by placing yourself between a child and a care giver, chances are, you risk being accused of wanting to kidnap the child

  • SIX DEAD IN MASS SHOOTING IN NEW MEXICO 7-12

  • 2012..lol....As always good work Demcad, and good topics

  • This is why the elites are superior to us. They work together towards a common goal and they are educated. We are not united. We see each other as individuals, we ignore each other, we disrespect each other, we kill each other, we curse each other out on the internet. Many of us pursue silly "careers" in fields like acting, modeling, etc. Ironic how our country is called the "United" States of America.

  • @0Gustave0 The "elites" aren't as united as you think. The difference is they have access to things they keep from us, including knowledge and technology.

  • Group Think = Programming

People please think for yourselves - don't follow the masses

  • Damn straight. Accolades to those black guys.

  • yeah this works at a large scale and it pisses me off.

    everyone needs a tan

  • Great vid and impt. subject matter.

  • LOL @ 1:17..... good one!
