Due to its unusual microarchitecture, it's capable of outperforming an average desktop processor on floating-point operations, but that's it. For everything else, Cell falls much behind the modern CPU lineups.

And it's misleading to say Cell hasn't reached its full potential if you don't understand its architecture and what can be done with it. When a developer says "we have only used 60% of the SPEs", it doesn't mean they only used 60% of the PS3's potential. This extra 40% SPE performance would have made a quite small difference on the game, either in performance or graphics-wise.

About the console GPUs, the thing is that you're comparing a R500 with 48 shaders to a G70 with 32 shaders plus a variable number of SPEs. Results will vary because of that.
@WELSHYx Honestly, I don't know how a SPE compares to a shader. But as the PS3 exclusives suggest, proper use of the SPEs can easily turn the graphics advantage to the PS3 side. So we can assume the 6 SPEs do more than the difference between Xenos and RSX, which is 16 shaders. Also remember that one RSX shader and one Xenos shader do not necessarily have the same performance, either one can be faster than the other.

I don't care for service either, I don't experience any Lag on games. My download speed is great. So I'm good. Rather not pay 50$ each year.

(Check Wikipedia) The Only Hardware Flaw Of The 360 Is The RROD (We Can Live With It.) Xbox Not Only Has A Large Quantity Of Games But The Quality Of The Exclusives Is A Lot Better.

@WELSHYx I think the only reason why Xbox 360 games are better in graphics, is cause their to lazy to make the PS3 have its full potential come out, or another reason is they Port from Xbox 360 to PS3 so its a lot easier? So it puts out lower Graphics... I'm not to smart on how these consoles work, so excuse me if I'm wrong. I will always be a PS Fanboy? But later on in the future once they make a new Xbox I might get that aswell, depends if it will RROD...

Untrue About Using The Full Potential I've Played A Lot Of PS3 Exclusives And PS3 To Xbox Ports, The Only One That Actually Have Better Graphics Seem To Be Uncharted 2. Comparing Forza 3 To GT5 Prologue Or Not Still Has Forza's Graphics Come Out On Top.

@dunker888 Sorry It Doesn't... It Really Doesn't. Super Computers Don't Use SPE's The Use GPGPU's. The Cell System Was Made For Streaming Movie Media. And Even Though 8 Cells Sounds A Lot. It Isn't The Power Of A SPE Is Less Than A 1/8 Of One Core On The 360. In Fact One Core On The 360 Can Run The OS Many Background Task's And GOW.
Reference Uncharted 2. GOW2 Wasn't Far Off And Halo Reach's Graphics Aren't Bad Either. The Only Reason It's Better Is Because Of The Blu Ray Player.

@dunker888 The PS3 doesn't get even close to the processing power of a supercomputer. Its Cell processor achieves up to 179.2 GigaFLOPS, while supercomputers easily achieve hundreds of thousands of GigaFLOPS. IBM Roadrunner, for example, achieves up to 1.7 PetaFLOPS, which is nearly 9500 (or over 9000, if you prefer) times the performance of PS3's Cell.
Also, PS3's Cell does achieve 2.33 times the Xbox 360's Xenon FLOPS performance, but Xenon has almost twice the MIPS performance of Cell.

@dunker888 Like henryhenriquez mentioned, that's barely correct. Cell is a processor released in 2005. Due to its unusual microarchitecture, it's capable of outperforming an average desktop processor on floating-point operations, but that's it. For everything else, Cell falls much behind the modern CPU lineups.

@dunker888 I'm not saying Cell is crap, I'm saying Cell is a value product, with low performance and low price.
And it's misleading to say Cell hasn't reached its full potential if you don't understand its architecture and what can be done with it. When a developer says "we have only used 60% of the SPEs", it doesn't mean they only used 60% of the PS3's potential. This extra 40% SPE performance would have made a quite small difference on the game, either in performance or graphics-wise.

@WELSHYx The PS3 ends up having higher visual quality even with a slower GPU due to the fact that Cell's SPEs can help with post-processing tasks. Since RSX can leave post-processing to the CPU, it can use the decrease in workload to perform more advanced shading, for example.

@WELSHYx Xbox 360 has and advantage because on multi-platform engines the SPEs are barely used, so the post-processing is done by RSX. What I mentioned only actually happens on an engine deveoped for the PS3, which can take full advantage of the SPEs. And PS3's Cell has one core (PPE) plus seven RISC SIMD units (SPEs).
As for the GPUs, a GTS250 outperforms the 9800GT because it's the same chip (G92) with higher clocks and more shaders. But why you ask this?

@WELSHYx Actually, a fair comparision would be a multi-platform engine that takes advantage of the SPEs, so every platform is fully explored. Among the rare examples is Codemaster's Ego and Crytek's CryENGINE 3. But since Crysis 2 isn't out and DiRT2 is limited to 30 FPS on both consoles, that comparision can't be done yet.
About the console GPUs, the thing is that you're comparing a R500 with 48 shaders to a G70 with 32 shaders plus a variable number of SPEs. Results will vary because of that.

@WELSHYx Honestly, I don't know how a SPE compares to a shader. But as the PS3 exclusives suggest, proper use of the SPEs can easily turn the graphics advantage to the PS3 side. So we can assume the 6 SPEs do more than the difference between Xenos and RSX, which is 16 shaders. Also remember that one RSX shader and one Xenos shader do not necessarily have the same performance, either one can be faster than the other.
I, too, can't stand the immature people who think insulting can make a point.

@WELSHYx Well, I wouldn't expect them to be better. They could, but they were as good as they needed to be, the way I see it. Sure, Microsoft could have waited until a die shrink to 65 nm and avoided most of the failure rate problems they had early on the Xbox 360 life cycle. And Sony could have made all eight SPEs available on Cell for a small price increase, rather than resort to chip harvesting to cut costs. But looking at the situation now, it ended up well enough...
