  • Wow. Been learning these poems for 3 months-don't understand. From you I understand it all in a few hours. You should not teach us English. You should tech the English teachers how to teach English. Great Respect from me, Sir.

  • @FSXICF couldn't agree more ;)

  • Mr Davies I had my Paper 2 English GCSE today. I was strong even though my revision was more concentrated on What Were They Like? and Nothing's Changed (my poems in the end were Island Man and Hurricane Hits England). Then I had to compare the METHODS in which they both were presenting feelings, similarities and differences. I only got 1 sim and 1 diff down. I think my Descriptive Writing made for it, I chose "Describe a country in summer and winter". To that I can only say: "God Bless America!"

  • These helped me so much last year when i was doing my english lit exams at GCSE. I would just like to thank you for helping me achieve my grade B :)

  • exam in 20 mins id better watch this vid then run

  • My exam is under two hours... Thank You so much for theese revision videos, they have helped me so much.

  • i've got 1 last poem to learn and i have an exam this afternoon

  • EXAM TOMORROW! Thank you very much, this was brilliant

  • What other poems would vultures be compared to? What were they like and the justification of evil? I have a list which says 'political dimension' but could someone please expand on this. Its late and maybe I'm tired but i'm slightly failing to see a tangible link :)

  • i hated this poem and i have my exam tomorrow and now i'm hoping it comes up. this poem is beautiful and you showed me that. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!

  • were you saying its not good to go into talking about tender as the meat thus, the farther could be shown as the vulture ? or simply stating that we should already know this and so not going into detail ?

    Thanks this really helps :D

  • ahaha this guy is actually hilarious for a teacher, thanks alot! I have my exam tomorrow!!! D:

  • "Oh my goodness that's so bright"-worm.

Fantastic, a bit of humour mixed with my last minute revision.

  • BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Star wars? good vs evil, darth vader as evil, that is highly debatable as the character that becomes Darth Vader, Anikin is corrupted and tricked by another into becoming evil and in the end kills the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, saving Luke Skywalker showing him to be like the tiny glow worm encapsulated in icy caverns of a cruel heart, just a though of consideration. Great videos by the way, very helpful :D

  • Wow O.O That was a great insight to the Vultures o.o I never thought of it in that way and I personally viewed it differently. Vultures is my favourite poem as is What Were They Like? :D

Thank you for the amazing insight :D Your a great teacher! :D

  • You deserve knighthood for this.

  • ur da bomb

  • LEG-END

  • thank you for the videos! i feel a lot more confident about my exam on wednesday :)

i don't know if you still read these comments, but do you know why the ellipsis' are used in the poem?

  • @bumblebeeinameadow this was making me struggle too, after some thought i decided that it would link into the questioning of achebe about which is better, evil good or good evil. apart from that i dont think much concentration is needed. hope this helped :)

  • @AdamStott64 thank you! very helpful - have to hope this poem comes up in the exam now!

  • Really Helpful!!

  • Absolutely Amazing.

  • thankyou :)

  • I get Vultures now thanks to you! & you make it so interesting too!

  • your videos are fantastic, thank you so much for uploading

I find this so easy to understand now!

  • surely all three parts should have roughly the same number of views...

    come on people!

  • To be fair, I think that listening to me for half an hour takes some stamina...

  • @helpmemrdavies I'm tired and ready to try and sleep and I did it!

  • Applause!!

  • I just realised something! Anyone who's read Dr Eggman's profile page in the Sonic Heroes Manual will know what I'm about to say: It states there that Eggman is actually a gentleman and a romanticist however his charms are often hard to spot through his abominable laughter!

  • thank you so much.

  • Great videos, you actually make poetry interesting! Wish my teacher was like that, it got really intense towards the end!

Doing my exam tomorrow, hopefully I will be able to use Nothing's Changed or Vultures as you have explained them so well :)

  • Thanks so much! my exam is tomorrow and this really helped! :) keep up the good work!

  • All your videos are amazing!!! I'd have failed English for sure!

  • I've seen an Ohmygoodnessthatssobrightworm in my kitchen

  • @Braefost101 LOL at the Ohmygoodnessthat'ssobrightworm! It sounds like a charlieissocoollike phrase!

  • OMG!

    Thank you so much!

I have the paper 2 exam on wednesday, this has helped loads!

  • WOW!!! be my teacher

  • good! very emotional and dramatic at the end. :)

  • Your videos are great :) I've watched them all this morning (my exam's in 2 hours), they've really helped and I'd feel much more confident about writing about these poems now, so thank you :D

  • They had television screens did they? In 39-45? Televisions weren't readilly available in 45!

  • Sorry about that - slip of the tongue. I was a bit put off by the camera... at least I didn't say they had ipods too!

  • Haha! Sir davis, bested yet again by the camera.

I did my poetry today and did quite well thanks to your videos!

    Cheers.

  • @helpmemrdavies night of the scorpion?

  • @LichKingSkullWart The movie by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, The Lost World was made and screened in 1929! It was made in stop motion as well as acting!

  • @LichKingSkullWart The Television was invented in 1923 I think - they definitely had movies in 1925 (The Lost World)

  • @Abominatrix650 True, but they weren't commercially viable.

  • @LichKingSkullWart Oh. That explains a lot! Thanks!

  • @LichKingSkullWart Trust someone to pick up on something like that; he's not a hystory teacher! :')

Really, you'd think you'd be listening to the lesson being taught and taking notes. THIS teacher is clearly one of few that actually can teach! :)

  • That was incredibly helpful. Really useful points and you make it all so interesting and relevent to everything going on around us. Thank you!

  • (sorry writing on my little brother's account :/)
