  • With all due respect to Miles and Dizzy and dozens of other trumpet players, there was no trumpet player that played at such a highly creative and technical for such an extended period of time. Dizzy by the mid to late 70's lost his sound. Miles as well.

  • Benny Green - part of the Berkeley High School Jazz Ensemble/Charles Hamilton legacy. He was a Charles Hamilton student in Middle School, though. Phil Hardymon for BHS. I was having a hard time believing that he was somewhere around 26 years old here.
