  • Ma sentite cosa faceva un certo Toscanini con l'Italiana; o anche Karajan - naturalmente - e poi Abbado!

  • Bravo !

  • This is not Italian music. It is Mendelssohn.

  • ohne Temperament... bin bißchen enttäuscht

  • Sure it's slow. All tempo's have their respective merits. This tempo for example is wonderful to acquaint yourself with the piece.

  • Kurt Masur is a Master of the correkt tempi, I think. Instead of Karajan, who most conducted too fast in my mind. I enjoy conducters they give me time enough to listen to the separete parts of this wounderful age of muesic.

  • I saw Kurt last night in San Francisco, twas a fantastic performance. Though I was a bit out of place... I was the only 21 yr old in a sea of 60+...

  • Who missed the memo that this is Allegro Vivace?!

  • It's ALLEGRO VIVACE! Please... faster....

  • i feel asleep. too slow

  • The tempo is perfect---KUDOS Mr Masur!!!

  • I can absolutely agree with you! It is the orchestra that became so good under Mendelssohn's batton and stil for me it's first choice for Mendelssohn's works!

Masur always understood his job as a "Generalmusikdirektor" at Gewandhaus Leipzig as a successor of Mendelssohn. In my opinion, he is a very legitimate successor!!!

  • @mrbrianmccarthy Sorry but the tempo is too slow and a bit boring. Its marked Allegro vivace, and that is close to an Andante, quasi allegretto. Yes, this is Mendelssohns orchestra, and it is elegant, but they do play it faster with Chailly and it is more Italianate....

  • @DaddyofT Hey,its my opinion that its just right. Most conductors play Mendelssohns music way too fast. And by the way, this tempo is definitely an allegro vivace---This mvt is in 6/8---get a metronone out and count the tempo---its VERY FAST. This is NOT an Andante by a long shot.

  • ok....kurt masur did his job....his one of the greatest maestro's....although the version isn't fast enough....

  • @Grivendal I have to disagree with you. You're just used to hearing the hyper speed interpretations most other conductors do of this piece.IMO,It always sounds insanely nervous to me the way its usually done, and I thought it sounded waaaay better at this tempo---theres a little more "Groove".

  • it's too slow. it's not Italian at all....

  • I've to say that you are right at all!

  • @ThePlutino I completely disagree. The spirit of these piece is in the music, not the speed.

  • The orchestra is fine and Masur very elegant. A great version! in spite of the slow tempo, not very appropiated for a Tarantella...

  • It's all messed up at the end.

  • im playing this in yout orchestra *btw were 11-13 yrs old

  • Child, somehow I doubt that.

A middle school youth orchestra would have immense issues with this considering it's being used as a regional peice for high schoolers in my area and is an issue for the most talented musicians I know.

  • There (I think its fairly new) is a String Orchestra arrangement of this.

Im fairly certain that is what they are playing. Its about a grade 4.

  • @dethdeelerchick666 wow what a bitch

  • u all so prolly sux at musiks

  • his name is kurt masur ;)

  • Kurt Mazur is great!

  • It's so SLOW!

  • No es lento. Los demás tocan muy rápido!!

A esta velocidad se puede apreciar la música.

  • I love it!!
