Yeah, she's struggling. Its a hard song to sing. All Carpenters songs are because of the unique tone of Karen's voice. Bad as it sounds, she is doing a good job, LoL She is a skilled singer. Very much so. Just not enough rehearsal time to get her voice to do what needs to be done. Listen close, when she sings a kiss for luck and we are on our way, the word "on" is nailed spot on. She does have a sense of pitch. One note nailed, and about 50 others that need work, LoL.

Oh and guys.. this is how Stevie has always been, or at least his old style. Granted, there have been times he's had a different energy at other live events back then. But more often than not, this is the (live) Stevie I'm used to. I personally love the Carpenters and their music, but I have more of a passion for soul/motown side of music. That's exactly right. Karen couldn't and shouldn't sing those songs , and she didn't, just as Stevie shouldn't sing "We've Only Just Begun." Every singer has limitations, even great singers like Ella Fitzgerald..who also couldn't and shouldn't sing Stevie's signature songs. Karen stuck with what she did best, and she shined. Ballads are meant for singers with beautiful voices; Stevie Wonder simply does not have the voice for ballads.
