  • Boy, does this video sound dated and silly

    now in hindsight!

  • the wealthy need to start paying social security on ALL their income too

  • Barrack Hussein is a flippinn empty suit. Full of hot air. Hes stupid too.

  • That was a very intelligent reply. lol

  • There is nothing honest about these democratic fools.

  • lrlbox21, looks like some democrat fools are clicking the little thumb-down on your comment. You're right of course. There's also nothing democratic about the democrat party. They are socialists who dress up like Americans.

  • Guess you bought into the republican party talking points, you fool. It's the "democratic" party. Nice try

  • Do you need government at all? If so, then you need to pay taxes.

  • Raise taxes on the rich, the dummies that buy this line. Hello, only the "rich" pay taxes. Here by rich, I mean those with high earned income.

Those that keep this economy strong are most penalized by our government through taxes. That makes no damn sense.

I want real honesty: Raise taxes on the poor, they should be working harder.

  • everyone is working really hard...

  • I'm not, and a lot of the people that I know aren't. The difference is I have a 6 figure income.

When I was poor most of the people that I was poor with did nothing to get out of their situation. Guess what, they are still there.

  • These liberals are funny. They talk about tax cuts for the "rich", but they don't look at the numbers. The numbrs say tax collections are way up and the "rich" are paying a bigger portion.

You don't hear about fewer taxes coming in because there aren't.

  • Countries with single-payer health care systems pay a smaller percentage of their income towards health care, AND the health care system pays a smaller percentage of its total expenses towards administrative costs than HMO's do. The capitalist health system in America has resulted in astoundingly inefficient organizations which waste their customers' money on administrative costs and, of course, they charge more than they need to for health care because they have to make a profit.

  • Government is the answer. It worked in all the other communist states.

  • The question isn't "lose votes by raising taxes" versus "getting points for honesty" -- rather it is a choice between taxing those with the most ability to pay or cutting opportunities, through things like student loans, for the rest of us.

  • the most ability to pay? have you read the Communist Manifesto lately; you should, because you just quoted it.

why should someone who produces more (and makes more money as a result) be obligated to pay more taxes?

  • bush's tax cuts inspired business which in turn generated RECORD tax revenues. if the republicans are too stupid to mention this to voters, they deserve to lose

  • The record tax revenues you speak of were generated by big oil increasing gas prices based on Katrina, shortages, instability in the Middle East, ect. When you have Oil and Gas companies posting 300 percent profits compared to the previous year you will generate record revenues.

  • "If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people, under the pretense of taking care of them, they must become happy."

    — Thomas Jefferson (letter to Thomas Cooper, 29 November 1802)

  • Problem is,with lower or no taxes for all, just who pays for everything? Ron Paul has no solution, and he wants them gone altogether. How about we just eliminate the unfair breaks for the wealthy? Do that and they could be reduced for the rest of us average folk.

Since those rich bastards get these guys elected though,I doubt it will ever happen.

Start with vampaign spending reform, enforce it,and those who are elected will be less likely to owe their souls to the wealthy.

  • I think you need to understand that whether or not taxation is stealing is an ideological argument and that there's a slim to none chance you're going to convince anybody you're right about that using that kind of language. I believe that taxes are necessary, and I know that a lot of that stuff is handled by the states. Okay, you're a liberatarian, we get it. You're not going to win an argument by repeating yourself without explanation.

  • Wait, social services and infrastructure improvements (things the government already pays for) are illegal for the government to pay for? Please explain this concept. I'm sure I'll disagree with you, but I'd at least like to know where you're coming from. Also, other countries have much better health care systems, transportation/roads, and schools, all paid for with taxes. America's just bad at those things... but I believe we can fix it.

  • read the US Constitution; that is the document that LIMITS the Federal Government's authority. If you can find in there where the Federal Government is given authority to tax us to pay for social programs, please post the relevant Article/Section here for everyone. I've been looking for 25 years without any luck.

  • Why do I have to pay income tax at all. I don't need an army or an aircraft carrier. Social programs are a drop in the bucket the military costs Trillions. I want that money back too.

  • hassleoffa - Yes, you do need an army and an aircraft carrier unless you want to live in the dirt praying to allah or getting beheaded if you resist.

  • Viragobob - Hey thanks for telling me what I need how I have to spend my money you socialist fuck-wad. So much for freedom.

  • !!! RON PAUL 4 PREZ 2008 !!!

  • "and have you not noticed that as taxes are increased, so is government tyranny and the erosion of human interaction?" There does not necessarily need be a causal relationship between the two, SaltyPig

  • Edwards is filthy rich and is offering to raise his own taxes to pay for health care for the poorest Americans. I think that says something. In exchange for better schools for my future children, better roads/transportation, and better/cheaper health care, I'd pay more in taxes. It's worth it. I'd rather be healthy with smart kids than rich.

  • when you raise taxes on the rich, you end up paying for it. im not saying they should pay no taxes but increasing taxes on them makes them move jobs over seas becasue they cant afford good wages and high taxes. when you tax too much profit, you either have to take that money away from the shairholders aka average people, charge higher prices for things aka average people pay for it, or you have to lay off people or cut benefits aka jobs overseas. you dont hear about this on the news.

  • how is it cheaper health care if you pay more taxes? please review your logic and try again.

  • You pay more tax you don't pay Health Insurance Premiums at all. That's what a universal health care system does. You cut out insurance companies. Think about it.

  • You will pay much more in taxes than you save in premiums. You already pay premiums for Social Security & Medicare; they take that right out of your check. Those deductions will increase dramatically to cover the universal health care costs, which will not go down because of the universal law of humanity that states, "if someone else pays for it, people will use it more." This will raise costs faster than they are rising now.

  • Use it more? So I get free health care so I'm going to get sick more? Quick let's go lick door knobs because they'll diagnose my infection for free!

  • Ron Paul 2008 if you want to change things.

Eliminate the IRS, and federal reserve.

  • Don't hold your breath

  • Down the toilet dude, Fred Thompson will be the next President of the USA. Dumbocrats lie to get elected and then DO raise taxes on the middleclass and poor
