I just watched "Say Anything" for the first time the other day. It was just a good movie and a good example of another 80's movie gone from good to great because of a good soundtrack!
Nancy Wilson is easily the most underrated musician in rock. (At least people recognize Ann's vocal talent. Nancy, however, never gets any recognition.)
I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don't want to do that.
I bought the blu-ray a few weeks ago. The transfer looks immaculate, and it is one if the best films ever made. Timeless classic, in the same breath as Citizen Kane, Titanic, Gone with Wind, Csablanca
I remember when this song came out (January 89') it had been almost 2 years since the Bad animals album, and was anxious for a new Heart album, but those days while hearing Ann's and Robin Z. "surrender to me" and then Nancy with this song made me worry a lot thinking the band had split. And could never forgive myself for accidentally erasing this video from my VHS tape. Thanks for reviving it here!.
Considering that Nancy is Cameron Crowe's wife, of course it would make all the sense in the world to have her collaborate with him on the music. This song is one of my favorites. Nancy does an awesome job as always. :)
I had always vowed to avoid cheesy comments on here but....I had such a thing for Nancy Wilson in the 80's!!! This song plus the knowledge (gained since) that she has been responsible for organizing the soundtracks for Cameron Crowe's films just makes her even hotter for me!!!
Terrific song, terrific movie. The whole soundtrack was pretty great but I thought this song was often overshadowed by "In Your Eyes" (which is wonderful too). Loved to hear this again!
Despite all the eighties corniness, the video is amazing! The song is still touching; her voice and performance moving and the idea of being on the empty stage where all the props and costumes from the movie are all what is left makes me remember the experience of having watched the movie... and miss the time when I watched it. Thanks for posting!!!
I remember watching the film when I was younger, and got it on DVD. And watched it last night. :D
I loved the bit where he held up the radio, playing their song out loud outside her home, trying to get her to remember their good times and rethink on things. I think all men should be that spontaneous.
Anyways... Great song. Makes me wanna sing out loud =)
Two things, Nancy...I love you & you melt my Heart with this song. Also if they ever release another DVD of 'Say Anything' I hope they add this video. :=)
you can just see her passion in this video. you can tell she believes in this song. such a good song too. i love how awkward she is with her dance moves. lol, its sooo cute. shes not use to performing without a guitar so in come scenes she doesnt kno what to do with her hands. soooo adorable. <3 i love you nancy.
Despite seeing "Saying Anything" at the cinema, I never remembered this song. It was only after seeing VH1's Behind the Music edition on Heart that I heard a bit of this song. What a wonderful discovery and an amazing vocal from Nancy Wilson. I love Heart and the Wilson sisters, so this is just icing on the cake and a hit that should have been, as it's at least as good as "These Dreams."
@gatamayo Amen to that. We're looking for it, and see it everywhere. It's called Life. There are no engraved invitations from the gods, but we know we're being challenged every day to be great; more generous, more open, more courageous. Aren't we all being dared to stand up, stand out, and stand apart?
I love the excellent audio and video quality of this. Thanks to the poster. An awesome, epic song that's truly addictive. Nancy puts her heart and soul into the performance. It was produced by Richie Zito, who later produced Heart's "Brigade" CD. And it was written by Martin Page, who wrote "These Dreams" for Heart. Cool, huh?
If it weren't for Say Anything, I would never have discovered this. It should've been a huge hit. It's the type of song you can't resist playing over and over again. Excellent video, production, and instruments, and well-carried by Nancy... just an addictive song. Thanks
Absolutely grgjsfrld. While the vast majority of people associate 'In Your Eyes' with Say Anything...this is always the song that comes to my mind. Amazing song. I never get tired of hearing it...even after almost 20 years.
What I hate is at the end of Say Anything they always talk over the credits and minimize the screen. I'm like "Hey, do you mind if I listen to nancy?!"
i have a split 7 inch between this and red hot chilli peppers. How Jelly are u?

Nancy Wilson is awesome, and this song is good.
But who taught her to dance? When the song gets going she dances like Elaine from Seinfeld.
