Stuntman Bill Hickman said that Jayne Mansfield's death was inspiration for a "gag" he devised for the film "Seven Ups" where Roy Scheider drives his car under the trailer of a big rig parked on the road side. Gives you goosebumps now, when you watch it, knowing that
I lie this and other 70s films shot in NYC (French Connection, Taking of Pelham 123, etc.) as they seem to have a harsh, "gritty" look to them. It adds to the authentic feel of the movie. I don't see this style in movies made recently.
If you dig those gritty vintage cop films set in NYC, you should check out Italy's police sagas from that same decade! Movies like "High Crime" and "Almost Human" tried to emulate the style made famous by "The French Connection", and totally made a style of their own!
Roy was the man! A lot of people say this should have been the sequel to The French Connection instead of what we did get, although that was a very good sequel in itself with Hackman giving a better turn as Doyle.
Clooney is more of a model and or a poser than an actor. I f Brad Pitt was not pumped,he would be looking for other type of work on Hollywood Blvd. Paul Walker smiles too much. Will Smith clowns arond too much....Roy Scheider is the man!
R.I.P. Roy Scheider- so many great performances. Just like this one in the Seven Ups- an awesome film. It takes you around New York in the early 70s- Muy cool!!!!
i love this film ! roy scheider's best film along with jaws.movies from the 1970's were so gritty and real.roy scheider was a great actor and i always felt that he was underrated.tony lo bianco was also very good in the movie, just saw him recently in the movie kill the irishmen which had a 70's feel to it.

LOL @ 2:52, the girl cupping her hands around her mouth to amplify her scream, looks very spontaneous.

Scheider's role as Det.Buddy 'Cloudy' Manucci was loosly based on his Det.Buddy'Cloudy'Russo in "The French Connection".
