  • While on the subject of cover versions...

    The first of these was by Edwin Bee on the Decca label in March 1968, which made him the first to cover an Elton John song.

    The second was from Jack Bedient & the Chessmen.

    His was released on the Executive Productions #21 label in 1969.

    Bedient & his Chessmen were from the Pacific NW and played Vegas frequently.

    They give the song a decent rave-up.

    And of course: Wednesday in 1975 on the Celebration label.

    Under the curious title of "Loving You Baby" !

    Do you happen to know the name of the band that covered this song in the early 1970s? I heard it on the radio in Montreal when I was a child, and would love to hear it again.

    Wenesday was the name of the band that covered this song in Canada. 1975 was the year I believe.
