I can't wait till i get my 2011 Gti, I've been waiting months a total of 6months wait till I receive it, in September. Too bad I can't mod it, it will be a company lease car until 2 years :(
I have averaged 26.5 overall with a mix of city and hwy (60/20) since I got it 4 months ago. Get around 25 city and 33 hwy if I take it easy and stay out of the boost. If you're in it all the time, the mileage will be a lot worse and youll have a lot more fun. Beyond that, this car rules.
@FutrellAutowerks honestly, how reliable are gti's? I think they are very nice cars, the shape, and look and feel, but i know that vw doesnt have a good track record with reliability.
@yoonjaechung wait what????? vw has an outstanding track record of reliability. i beat the shit out of my car off the lot, my brother has a csrt4 and tried to drive it hard off the lot and check e light came on 2 days after and had a major vacuum leak. dad has mazdaspeed 3 with a little work and he snapped his rods.... so i think other automakers "performance" cars r unreliable dude...
What's the real mpg for this car? Not the estimated, I wanna know the real reads from owners. I like this car more than my girlfriend (but I never said that, ok), and I'm planning a change. The only reason that could stop me from getting this one is if the mpg is worst than the car I have now... Thanks for the help.
@puerroputo once you break in the cars engine, your see better milage. I drive a 09 and it also depends on driving style. Currently I'm getting 30 city and 45 highway.
@puerroputo I did a 1,100 mile trip on highway with some traffic through major cities and it returned just under 35mpg while averaging 63mph. Around town with mixed driving I get 26 mpg
@puerroputo "The only reason that could stop me from getting this one is if the mpg is worst than the car I have now" - Don't be a pussy, get it anyway
I picked this car up 3 months ago. Love it. I had a 94 in the past. But this car is somethin else. Only thing I've done is just tint the windows and bolted on the Forge VAG Blow off valve adapter. Curiosity, you wouldn't happen to know what kind of power the stock internals can handle reliably would you.
thanks guys for the genuine commentary (the guys in the vid)...the GTI is an awesome car and unfortunately dorks in the States would rather get an IS 250, 328i, g37, etc....just try to be unlike someone else and get a super clean car down to the little things for 5k less...
@Koruephiroth Stage 1, 2, 3 refer to the different tuning levels, in general Stage 1 is software, software/intake, Stage 2 is software/intake/downpipe (or full exhaust), Stage 3 is larger turbo, downpipe/exhaust, specific operating software. There's also a host of supporting mods such as intercooler, motor mounts/mount inserts, pulley kits, etc.
@FutrellAutowerks how much would stage 1, 2 and 3 tuning levels cost for everything (i know there are variables, but i was wondering what the ball park price range would be for each)
@k1ng92 $660 for Stage 1 $1650ish for Stage II and Stage 3 jumps about to about $5500, Prices include labor. But there's lots of variables as you move your way up the ladder, like intercooler, clutch, LSD, etc. Check out our Stage II dyno video-
The biggest risk would be a part being defective on the base engine that led to a unwarrantably failure. In general its best to start with software/intake, then work your way up the ladder; downpipe, turbo upgrade (if desired), etc. Check out our other videos; we're getting 250 WHP and 290 ft.lbs of torque with just software/downpipe/exhaust, hard to beat that performance!
@speacialperson12345 Yes thats about what we're seeing despite those numbers being the claimed wheel horsepower numbers from VW (see our other dynos for stock results at 200 WHP)
it looks better than the mazdaspeed3 and it's smaller, but unfortunately so is the engine, 2.0l just doesn't sounds like enough for a 3100 lb car, but it appears it still has good acceleration.
See our other videos to find out! Choose APR software for your "chip" it allows you to lock the ECU in its stock form so its undetectable to the dealer.
@CoonBabble Its really best to break in the engine how you intend to use it. A sudden change in more aggressive driving a couple thousand miles into operation will likely result in oil consumption. Don't abuse the engine on break in but run it up in the manner you intend to drive the car for optimal results.
not trying to be an idiot, but is this coming from a certified mechanic? i just dont want to excessively wear my engine or damage it based on the words of a non-mechanic. im assuming you are though? cheers
Up until its time the 20th was probably the best GTI ever built, but the solid rear axle killed it, both the MK5 GTI and now the MK6 are superior, with some luck we'll see a special edition package of the MK6 with unique colors and Recaros like the 20th. Check out our 20th AE build in our Flickr Gallery.
The 20th & 337 had the best seats in any gti ever made period. The mk2 though for me is the best gti ever made! Maybe because it was my first car and me missing those days but after owning a mk4 and an audi A3 i still miss my 89 gti 16v and it will always be my favorite car ever
I love that intake growl under full throttle. My Mk5 does it too, but I understand the engineers have made the Mk6 sound even better. I do hope VW has addressed the interior rattle issue. Apparently it wasn't just my car.
damn put 0:50 that was so sudden damn ! They were like talking and chilling and then suddenly BAM!

Any risks of going Stg.III at such a low mileage? I am sure you guys continue proper break in period anyways, right?
I drive an APR tuned B5 A4 1.8T. A simple chip upgrade is the best mod you can do to any VAG motor.

any turbo lag?

The turbo is very small and the torque off boost from the 2.0L powers into the turbo spool quite nicely, you don't notice any lag, even stock.
