you can back stab with everything but the whip, however there are a few shields that won't let you parry because of the weight of them. havels and the eagle shield are two

Some general Tips:

Don't equip anything that you don't plan on using often. It uses weight from your available encumbrance load.

If you can, keep your load under 1/4th of your total encumbrance. This will allow you to roll and run at the fastest speed. Keeping it under HALF of your total encumbrance is almost a necessity.

Firebombs are awesome, and cheap at only 50 souls each.

Don't be afraid of this game. IT WILL USE YOUR FEAR AGAINST YOU.

Ive come to the conclusion that James cannot play Dark Souls without Mitch. The 2 times James played without Mitch he killed an NPC and wasted his arrows and his time using a bow he didnt have the stats for xD

if you hit a spear guy once they will atack inmediatly after you can use that to lure them to atack, hit them once and then go for the backstab while they atack , this way you dont have to use a kick

@ShogunGorilla That's how I knew I was using the wrong strategy, personally. Once I switched to mage, a class whose style I liked, it clicked and I made 5 times the progress in two or three hours as I made in the original game.

I WAS NOT LYING! You can easily whack that tail right off with a zweihander or even a claymore, you just have to know what you're doing so you don't accidently step off the edge when you swing the sword.

But all that matters is that you got the sword and can now move on. I have to say though, this series will be as long as Danger's Skyrim walkthrough at this rate.

@crazyringo92 Or you could do it with any weapon. It's much easier and faster to cut it off melee then using the bow.

@ShogunGorilla I wouldn't say any weapon, some don't have the range, it's actually pretty far out there and I wouldn't try with anything shorter than a claymore. And then spears and stab swords are impossible to aim properly... So you're pretty limited on what you can use.

Ditto on dropping the battle axe James, having a second shield and second weapon is nice but it just adds weight that you could use for better armor and faster roles.

And ditto on the intelligence, magic is pretty useless.

@crazyringo92 Ohhh you're talking about hitting him from the bottom of the bridge. I was talking about how you can shoot him with an arrow from the steps then hit him in the face when he comes down to the bridge. You need to do it like 2 or 3 times and the tail comes off. Only have to waste a couple arrows too.
