Not only the girls and Alexandra for that matter, but Alexei too had jewelry on him(in his kepi(?) if I'm correct), the Family believed they were to be saved by some mysterious soldiers(believed to be a plot from the soviets to have a reason to kill them), or that they would be allowed to go to Europe, England preferably, eventually. Also Alexandra had the believe that their relatives would save them eventually.
