I swear the original power rangers was intended for an older audience than it eventually picked up. I think it was originally selling to the Saved by the Bell crowd but instead got dumbed down over the years for the five-year-old market. Whether or not that's what the creators had in mind, not sure, but I never thought of this as a "children's" show when it first came out. Yeah the bad guys were ridiculous, but that's Japanese entertainment for you.

I hearken back to Courtney Love (before she imploded) in similar childlike dresses. One girl in my computer repair class came in wearing pigtails and had a pencil with a pacifier on it. Strange, strange days...

Zack and Angela were the first kiss. They shared a smooth on the lips in the first season.

Zhane and Karone also more or less had a kiss on the lips as well.
