does any1 remember that song .the hook was like ..''makin mellow'' i think some girls rappd on it.. i just cant get the lil hook out my head.for yrz.. i think it came out when dance all nite came out.. in 89 or 90..
In my opinion Miamis best DJs back in the days were the Side Side DJs and I dint heard this in a restaurant It was the word out theare and they usto mix for Miami ritmo 98,star force 99 and hot 105, PS Alot of miamis nigh club happend after the OCHOA familly from Colombia came to Miami and the Cuban arrive to Miami by the Mariel.. Remember Raul Martines Miami Cuban American Mayor who made them more famous?
To rdecaserio: I'm no expert on Miami Base but Dave himself told me he created it! And I've seen it in various media that he is the creator. I don't know, do you know of any Miami Bass groups before 2Live Crew? Like I said I'm no expert.. Thanks.
Yes they were plenty out theare, but what made Luke and the getto starr bass famous was the explicit content and Raul Martines... Raul wasent thinking obout the us constitution.. Dave is just a person, Miamis Own Disco Dave was first and he is more famous than Dave im Miami.. Im gettin a little undergound here..anyway all this came from NY.. Miami resident till this day are still learning obout the hip hop roots, believe it or not! and not everything youre heard is true, you had to be theare
He is the only DJ that I have seen who could play a record upside down!! He would get a small cereal bowl put it upside down on the tuntable, he would out a record on top of the bowl, take the stylus of the arm, take it off, turn it upside down , put it back on, then put it on the record, from underneath, then then he'd start playing the record from the centre outwards!! He was totally immersed in bass and electro, cutting himself of from everything to practise..
Yes miller4th502nd. I first met him around 1983/4, he was a chef in the USAF and he was posted in Lakenheath England, (where we met). I worked as a waiter in restaurant up there. He was interested in records and sound systems and used to spin in his dorm.. My older brother ( who was a professional DJ back then,( taught by Bambatta and Jazzy J,thats another story!). Had a big hand introducing him to DJ'n and rap music.. He used to practise 10 to 12 hours non stop! Genius!
Treach Dj was a great Miami DJ but I would not say: create I will rather say:he was a genius REMIXING electro funk sounds olready made by various genius in NY like Arthur Baker.. Miami bass was electro funk samples, more bass and RPM. I love Miami bass but 70% of Miami bas recordings was nothing but great mixes or remixes..
I dont agree with this comment.. other DJs and producers deserves this credit, Have you ever heard obout The Latin Rascals and Arthur Baker? I love Miami Bass but this electro (fresstyle) funk sound started and was created in NY and Miami DJs keep remixing them..
