@legominiman101 If it had been anybody else getting hit wrongfully with a tear gas canister and put into a coma the reaction would have been the same. People didn't know he was a veteran until a day or two after the incident happened. The reason he became so recognized is because he was the first well-reported casualty of unnecessary police aggression during the protests.

Any police officer that feels threatened by an peacefully protesting unarmed 84 year old woman is not fit to be part of any police department and if they were not threatened then they had no right to use the pepper spray on her. If your movement blocks the street and refuses to move you can expect to get maced. The fact of the matter is the risk of injury is far greater to both police and protesters if the police were to simply go in and make arrests. You cannot lawfully block the streets and if you do expect to be subject to force by police. Pepper spray is a saturation weapon and unfortunately if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time you will be affected
The situation is different. if the Jay walker were to stop in the middle of the road and block traffic and if the police warned him many times to get out of the road then pepper spray would be necessary. @atgskater14 Causing that severe pain in response to standing in the street is cruel and unusual, and there was no due process before that punishment. An 84 year old woman can be detained without it. If somebody were being combative and posed a threat of injuring the officer in the process of detaining them, then maybe it's necessary. The threat of riot doubles every time they cause this kind of suffering, and I'm convinced that's what they're looking for so they can shut everyone up.

People didn't know he was a veteran until a day or two after the incident happened. The reason he became so recognized is because he was the first well-reported casualty of unnecessary police aggression during the protests.

If your movement blocks the street and refuses to move you can expect to get maced. The fact of the matter is the risk of injury is far greater to both police and protesters if the police were to simply go in and make arrests. You cannot lawfully block the streets and if you do expect to be subject to force by police. If somebody were being combative and posed a threat of injuring the officer in the process of detaining them, then maybe it's necessary. The threat of riot doubles every time they cause this kind of suffering, and I'm convinced that's what they're looking for so they can shut everyone up.
