  • I applauded the video at the end

  • ..awesome! - just a question... is he tuned normally, or some kind of open tuning.... thought I saw someting that resembled different than normal (eadgbe) - just curious. This dude is frickin' amazing, and inspiring!

  • @mattnashty Looks like standard tuning to me.

  • fAbulous guitar work But honestly, his music bores me. Just Up the scale, down the scale, Up, down..., and fast arpeggiated chords.

  • Bireli is a living legend. I've played with him when he was here in the states. If your going to get your ass kicked, might as well be from the best.

The quality of his inventions is awesome. He is like the Oscar Peterson of the guitar. His standard will be the bar that all aspiring guitarist will have to contend with.

  • @Boldstrummer he is definitely on par with Oscar

  • To all the 17-year-olds that hang around youtube watching videos of korn, blink 182, Linkin' Park or some other horrible band, and think that Kurt Cobain was the greatest guitarist ever: I hope you watch this.

  • Doesnt seem possible that someone can play better than this.....

  • this guy never ceases to amaze me... Man, what a talent!

  • Bravissimo e basta. Forse c'è una piccola corsa ma non fa testo. è umanamente comprensibile.

  • Respect, utter respect to all three musicians.

  • now there is a man that has played for a long time.......:)

  • The guy has soul.

  • The Master

    My Hero ;-)

  • Absolutely nails it and owns it... and love when he plays 'Daphne' with the brilliant Maestro Richard Gallliano!!!

  • Greatest and most creative improviser on guitar around.

  • bireli pwnz this tune in all cases vs. everyone

  • 0:23 XDDDDDDD

  • Why haven't more people seen this video, it is absolutely stupendously mind boggling.

  • In America we get American Idol and the sorry ass rappers who think they are about something... in France you get this... and Americans think they are advanced??? NOT

  • right, but you still don't get much of this on National French TV. They have their own Britney and American idol too.

There's great musos in the US that never see the light of day because guys that run the networks know that the TV watching public wouldn't know talent if it kicked them in the balls. People don't understand this kind of talent. It's like watching a brain surgeon or sportsman doing stuff that takes a lifetime to master, but it doesn't connect with your average moron.

  • @termcobra03 Totally agree bro!

  • @termcobra03 It's not for you or the t.v network guys to assume that every day people can't appreciate this, and I don't think it helps to be cynical. The problem is that people become the garbage that they watch, they aren't inherently stupid from the start. People are force fed, which doesn't exactly fit the criteria for supply and demand. If we were given more choice it would be so much better.

  • @Davidsim1 yes. You are right! You are right. People are force fed. The problem is that the arts channels that actually do try and broadcast this kind of stuff end up on channel 89 and no-one watches. If it was on letterman every day it would become "the cool, in thing" but the networks don't see that far ahead. They are in cahoots with the record companies and the record companies won't promote people like this because they are few and far between and they can't tell them what to do.

  • @Davidsim1 why is lady gaga famous, and this guy only relatively little known to anyone outside the jazz world. Yo Yo Ma is famous....why is he the only world renowned household name who is purely and instrumentalist?? Is it because his name is Yo Yo??? He happens to be one of the very best, but that's not why he's famous.

  • The problem is you really have to do this stuff to know how good this is.

It goes over most peoples heads, that think music is more about lyrics that anything else. It's a shame. The public misses out on so much because of lack of exposure of this kind of thing.

It's all over youtube, but you have to know about it to go there....I could rant all day about this...especially after seeing a celeribty entertainment show.

  • the people keeping time for him are impeccable musicians. there at every drop time and swingin like a mutherfu*>&*... it makes his job so much easier when things in the section work that seamlessly

  • Just amazing! Amazing!!!! Amazing!!!!

  • Name of the CD is MOVE. Buy it and enjoy!

  • Whaaaarrrkkken hell man he can twiddle those strings!!!!!!

  • i have this dvd. believe me, the best solo in the dvd!!!

  • Pleeeeease what is the dvd called and where did you buy it... Im in Australia.

  • i'm from greece. i bought it in a cd store. i believe it's called " bireli lagrene & Gipsy project" or something like that. With these two guys in the video and a sax player named frank wolf. they are playing django songs and various standards.

  • The DVD is actually called "Bireli Lagrene Gypsy Project Live in Paris". I don't knoe if Amazon ships to Australia, but it is available on that site.
