What i love about this cartoon is that is not trying to be like The Animated Series, is trying something new for a generation of viewers. Believe me, if you show to a kid an episode of The Animated Series, he would find it dull and boring. It's sad, but is the truth.
JUST when this theme was growing on me they change it to the other one... uurrrgghh, oh well, thanks for the upload :) an ok series, but not as good as the 90's animated series...
Takes me back to the days where I would get up every saturday morning and watch this on Kids WB. Now all they have is CW, and that is not nearly as good. :(
@jerrybake458 so true...season 2 ruined it...wish this batman cartoon was like the dark knight movies...dark and violent...writers and producers screwed it up
@TheSpawnfan Yeah, the only thing that kept this show from being EPIC was the lack of "major" villains (Joker & Harley aside) and the crappy Riddler.
I totally agree that Two-Face & Scarecrow should have been in this... especially Scarecrow. Hello? Master of Fear? Perfect for the Dark Gotham look... sigh...
@farbeyondthegardeng8 And they kinda screwed up Mr. Freeze's origin, i mean, didn't they see the Batman TAS "Heart of Ice" episode? it won an Emmy and i feel pity and sorrow for Freeze everytime i remember it. In that episode you see Freeze's humanity, he's not truly evil, he's just suffering.
Too true... I still don't know what they were thinking with that one. DC Comics actually retconned Mr. Freeze's origin to match "Heart of Ice" because it was so awesome. Turning Victor Fries into a crook pre-Freeze... it took all the heart out of the ice.
love this intro better than the second one. the other sounds more like scooby doo or something of the likes, this one just sounds hauntingly beautiful
I wish The Batman stayed more like this intro. Dark, mysterious, and complex. With this opening, you can tell theres a lot to the show we're not seeing. The second intro was just over the top and turned what could have been a really interesting crime show into a run of the mill Saturday morning cartoon
This was a good followup to Batman the Animated series. The WB really did have a good line up of cartoons back then. I would enjoy this with a good serving of YuGioH! :) Now cartoon network has everything on lock with saturday mornings. I cant quite get into their line up. I really only enjoy Ben 10 (and its starting to get old to me) and Clone wars. I cant quite get into Rex and Firebreather. Batman BOld and brave or whatever was a waste of time and a joke.
I am starting to upload the series, i have all seasons, I have just uploaded the first episode in 2 parts and all is good to go, youtube is not blocking it :D, you can watch it on my channel
I have my opinions on both the animated series and the batman, but it doesn't really matter because I am just really glad that WB keep making these so each generation of kids are introduced to this timeless classic.
I always loved this series. I started watching Batman: TAS, when I was a child, and always found it to be a little too dark, (I was about 6), when this rolled around in 2004, I loved it to death, until 2008, when it ended. When I heard that Cartoon Network was making a new Batman series (Brave and The Bold), I was like ''ok'', and I saw it, and the depiction of the Batman was waaaay to comical. Thank God that BaTB is ending, and work on a new series has been confirmed to a more serious tone.
This is probably a really good series and I'm somewhat interested in watching it...but... I'm sorry, I just can't get past the sloppy animation. The only new character depiction that gives the franchise justice is Mr. Freeze, and that's because...let's face it, in the series they never really made Freeze cool looking...
Music was nice, created an atmosphere.
What's up with Joker's Hair?
Even the comb-over hobo-look looked better then that
On a side note, I really hope Freeze is in Arkham City.
I have to say that this show was pretty tight for a while. I didn't grow up during the TAS episodes but this was a good substitute. It was colorful but still dark. And I have to say that they did choose take risks such as making Clayface a tragic villain.
This was a show that started great but ended bad. It began sucking when Robin was introduced. This incarnation of Batman was better off solo.
@quentaviousmilton For sure man. I have been watching most the episodes again. And for me, season 1 and 2 were the best. Batman was nice and solo, he didn't need little runts like Robin and Bat Girl. Yin was good, at least she was an adult, not a little kid. Sorry, just ranting right now. lol.

bruce timm created a very high bechmark when he made BTAS. it's almost impossible to recreate that magic. but the batman has a refreshing look and has some comedy to it. so instead of comparing it to BTAS we can accept it as a new kind of batman cartoon.
dam what an amazing opening, it reminds me of what 90 cartoons did, when they made epic openings with epic music to hook the kids into watching. The music is just perfect, bruce and batman have a good style, and the villains have a refreshing but nostalgic feel, not to mention they look powerful, this is probably the 3rd best batman opening (1. Batman TAS 2.Batman Beyond)
o yea also since you guys say the batman TAS was se awesome ill check it out for myself after I finish watching all the batman(2004) online then ill get back to you and compare the shows and if its better than the batman then it will still be the same the batman is for kids not adults still stuck in there childhood
(this goes out to all the people that grew up watching the original batman) dammit will you please stfu what are you people like in your 20s this isent for you its for the kids and I honestly like this series infact its pretty awesome so stop freaking whining about "how much this show sucks' stfu dam you must have peter pan syndrome(look it up)and im 12 and if u dont like it dont watch it
I have noticed that every time they make a new Batman series it gets worster and worster. Batman TAS was the most epic of all superhero cartoons which made this Batman look pathetic. But now that you think about it batman the brave and the bold is a load of crap and sucks so hard. words cant even describe that terrible incarnation of a batman cartoon.
@yue12321 I thought this show was even better than TAS until Seson 2.Somehow the show this show got crappier when they included Robin and Batgirl it just wasnt good anymore they showed have just kept Batman Solo
@mastermindxyz1 if you figure this out .. please let me know.. its actually what I am searching for right now... I will return the favor if I find it.
This show had the potential to be Super Great and it was until season 2 and the movie Batman vs Dracula. But after that the show kind of lost its Epicness and Horror with all the Batgirl and Robin stuff
this is the opening for season 1. after the rubberface of comed and the clayface of tragedy, the picture of ethan bennet showing his badge was replaced by ellen yin
Now THIS is an opening theme song for Batman, it starts out slow and mysterious, just like he does, then it kicks up, just like when he starts fight, and then breaks off into a whisper, just like the Batman when he disappears into the night, not that jazz crap they made for the other seasons
@droger07 I think they changed the opening to that to go more with the light hearted feel they were trying for when robin and batgirl showed up. It's more campy and has a whole Adam West feeling to it, you can almost her the "KA-POW!"s in there. I like both about equal but it is a big change going from this to that
@droger07 well mostly I think it's due to the addition of Robin and Batgirl, they were both kids and they are supposed to be a comic relief. So changing the opening to a kiddie tone suits these two characters. But yeah, I agree with you tho.
@kamkam2828 On the one hand, I love the darker more serious stuff, but even though it seems slightly gimicky I do like the comic relief they provide. But I do prefer this opening to the later one.
@droger07 I think the reason the old animated series used jazz is cuz the show felt really like in a 1940s setting. it look like it was run by mobsters. this one feels more like the current generation
@droger07 hey! jazz is awsome. and i study jazz so just to let u know theres ashit load of jazz influence in this theme. its epic and dark and moody but its like goth jazz lol.
Okay me personally I prefer The Batman and a little of Batman Beyond. Mainly because they knew how to fight, and damn did they fight well. As far as the Animated Series and Brave and the Bold they have there moments where they shine, but The Batman and Batman Beyond was a lot better.
@AdrianMorrison101 Agreed, Batman the Brave and the Bold almost did to the batman cartoon franchise what Batman Forever and Batman & Robin almost did to the movies: killed it (and he who ever lets Joel Schumarcher get near Batman again shall be cursed for eternity)
@TheSpawnfan i am not saying that brave and the bold are a terrible series as they are bringing what the old batman really was, campy, lightly toned,....BLUE. but it is most defitinly not one of my favorite series
@AdrianMorrison101 Really? sorry then, well it's a matter of taste then. I don't think Batman the Brave and the Bold is so bad as i made it look like in my comment but i don't like it so much, at least it's better than the sucky cartoons today such as Ben 10 Ultimate Alien, but the Joel Schumarcher movies? they're pure trash
@AdrianMorrison101 i know, terrible, and not to mention he made a thug out of Bane, Poison Ivy was not as hot as she really is, The Riddler is a pathetic emo loser (he has tantrums but he stays classy in the comics) The only one good was Schwarzeneger as Mr. Freeze (a surprisingly good work)
@TheSpawnfan pathetic emo?? psssh not even..he was more of "wanna be joker pathetic weak non threatening". and I almost cried what they did to bane. And i wouldve rathered be stuck for severe hypothermia then keep hearing those ice puns.
For me, both The Batman and The Animated Series have their strengths-in my opinion TAS focused more on the moral issues, relationships between the characters and the psychology element, this one focuses more on the high tech gadetes, fights and characters coming up with escape solutions at the last minute. I find that I can enjoy both equally-it just depends what I'm in the mood for.
this one wasnt as good as TAS, but it was still a good show :) I mean, nothing really beats TAS... muuuuch better than BATB... (brave and the bold)...
Yup, TAS kicks major a**, but The Batman is still pretty good. I had a hard time getting used to the way some characters looked (Bane, Joker notabilly) but it turns out a pretty solid series.
This show really surprised me. Justice League was considered the end of DCAU and I was certain nothing could even compare to it. The animeish style and reimagined villains just further intensified my fears. But it was Batman, so I gave it a chance. And I've really liked it.
i think its because the Batman was intended for a juvenille audience (it was much childish compared to BTAS) but the theme was too dark for an elementary student cartoon series...I hate that they changed the theme and put cheesy lines.
Yeah I know he wrote it just can't seem to figure out what song it is reminding me of. I don't even know if it is a U2 song. Hmmm watch it hit me out of the blue.
I feel horny when i hear this song, lolzzzzz

@droger07 hells yea, amen 2 that, i mean it gets 2...comic booky in seasons 3 and more, batgirl and robin r great but batman works better alone
yoshi9842 1 year ago
@droger07 well mostly I think it's due to the addition of Robin and Batgirl, they were both kids and they are supposed to be a comic relief. So changing the opening to a kiddie tone suits these two characters. But yeah, I agree with you tho.
kamkam2828 1 year ago
@kamkam2828 On the one hand, I love the darker more serious stuff, but even though it seems slightly gimicky I do like the comic relief they provide. But I do prefer this opening to the later one.
Gallifreyswaterbendr 1 year ago
@droger07 agreed, they should never have changed it for the other seasons.

@droger07 I think the reason the old animated series used jazz is cuz the show felt really like in a 1940s setting. it look like it was run by mobsters. this one feels more like the current generation
southparkjrd 11 months ago
@droger07 hey! jazz is awsome. and i study jazz so just to let u know theres ashit load of jazz influence in this theme. its epic and dark and moody but its like goth jazz lol.

Okay me personally I prefer The Batman and a little of Batman Beyond. Mainly because they knew how to fight, and damn did they fight well. As far as the Animated Series and Brave and the Bold they have there moments where they shine, but The Batman and Batman Beyond was a lot better.
Alucard12465 2 years ago 3
totally agree...i miss this series...and why isn't kids wb showing batman...now they are showing these ass cartoons
mastermindxyz1 2 years ago
@Alucard12465 i cant say i agree with being better then TAS...but brave and the bold 100%
AdrianMorrison101 8 months ago
@AdrianMorrison101 Agreed, Batman the Brave and the Bold almost did to the batman cartoon franchise what Batman Forever and Batman & Robin almost did to the movies: killed it (and he who ever lets Joel Schumarcher get near Batman again shall be cursed for eternity)
TheSpawnfan 7 months ago
@TheSpawnfan i am not saying that brave and the bold are a terrible series as they are bringing what the old batman really was, campy, lightly toned,....BLUE. but it is most defitinly not one of my favorite series
AdrianMorrison101 7 months ago
@AdrianMorrison101 Really? sorry then, well it's a matter of taste then. I don't think Batman the Brave and the Bold is so bad as i made it look like in my comment but i don't like it so much, at least it's better than the sucky cartoons today such as Ben 10 Ultimate Alien, but the Joel Schumarcher movies? they're pure trash
TheSpawnfan 7 months ago
@TheSpawnfan joel's movies were terrible in every describable way. A bat F***** credit card? WTF maN? he just pissed me off there
AdrianMorrison101 7 months ago
@AdrianMorrison101 i know, terrible, and not to mention he made a thug out of Bane, Poison Ivy was not as hot as she really is, The Riddler is a pathetic emo loser (he has tantrums but he stays classy in the comics) The only one good was Schwarzeneger as Mr. Freeze (a surprisingly good work)
TheSpawnfan 6 months ago

@ACompanyofSwans Well said. You summarised my opinion about the 2 series better than I could.

@yue12321 Thankyou very much, I'm flattered :)

I view this show as a sort of Ultimate Batman.
Like the Ultimate series that Marvel did, a reimagineing of classic heros.

Marvel=Ultimate

this one wasnt as good as TAS, but it was still a good show :) I mean, nothing really beats TAS... muuuuch better than BATB... (brave and the bold)...
ManInTheWhiteHat 2 years ago 3
I tried watching Brave And The Bold a while ago and just couldn't. It just didn't appeal to me at all. Whereas The Batman still does.
BassX0 2 years ago
I'm glad someone out there can sympathize :)
ManInTheWhiteHat 2 years ago
Yup, TAS kicks major a**, but The Batman is still pretty good. I had a hard time getting used to the way some characters looked (Bane, Joker notabilly) but it turns out a pretty solid series.

can anyone tell me the name of the song? :) (send me a message or leave a comment) ty
Motorskull12 2 years ago
um i don't think it has a name. but it is written and performed by The Edge, the guitarist from U2.
it's cool.
catwoman0369 2 years ago
This show really surprised me. Justice League was considered the end of DCAU and I was certain nothing could even compare to it. The animeish style and reimagined villains just further intensified my fears. But it was Batman, so I gave it a chance. And I've really liked it.
Aivottaja 2 years ago
yeah sucks it was cancelled...according to wikipedia
mastermindxyz1 2 years ago
Edge's playing style is unique. That's why he made the opening theme.
kertaspaper94 2 years ago 3
damn i love this music, this makes me remember careless times when everything was all fun and play like 3 years ago :P old times old times.....
Armogeddonking 2 years ago
gosh i love this theme song and this batman series...sucks it was cancelled...i think...don't know why they changed this theme and replaced it
mastermindxyz1 2 years ago
i think its because the Batman was intended for a juvenille audience (it was much childish compared to BTAS) but the theme was too dark for an elementary student cartoon series...I hate that they changed the theme and put cheesy lines.
IgnitedMHK 2 years ago 2
Love this theme song took me forever to find it its soo good
Tempest6269 2 years ago 5
well i dunno about the whole opening song, but parts of it remind me o the theme from Halloween
FunnyDude567 2 years ago
i love this song...best theme song to batman ever...should be played in the new batman movie
mastermindxyz1 2 years ago 4
The intro to this series was just so damn slick. Too bad the show was pretty much average. I really hate that they replaced it though....
atomofish 2 years ago 2
this the best intro of the batman series
longwaytosunrise93 2 years ago 4
i dont understand y they changed teh soundtrack in later seasons, this is way better
aymanfable 2 years ago 2
totally agree...stupid writers and producers
mastermindxyz1 2 years ago
I can't put my finger on it but this opening reminds me of another song. I can't think of it and its driving me crazy.
genocyde83 2 years ago
The Edge (U2's lead guitar) wrote it. That may be why it's so familiar sounding.
bkev93 2 years ago
Yeah I know he wrote it just can't seem to figure out what song it is reminding me of. I don't even know if it is a U2 song. Hmmm watch it hit me out of the blue.
