  • LIMITED ADDITON DOCTOR WITH A BEARD AND A BELLY!!

  • This is an awkward, flustered and uninspired interview.

  • already working on the gut in '86 ;-)

  • I JUST MET HIM! Got a signed photo too! Nice guy.

  • His beard really suits him here haha

  • e kinda looks good with some facial hair... :DDD

  • he's got facial hair!! lol

  • It's a shame his casual clothes weren't his proper costume.

  • oh dear, the Doctor isn't looking too well kept.

Recovering from a night out on the planet Piss-Up?

  • strange that matt smith would only be 3/4 years old at this point...

  • Baker was the doctor i grew up with when I was a wee lad! I remember the cliffhangers scaring the crap out of me in some stories! Had McCoy after and to be honest I liked his too! The McGann! Then had to wait nearly 10 years before seeing who again and though I liked the new ones - being older now its different - so would say I have a nostalgic soft spot for 80's who!

  • They just took the pure piss out of colin, they just did as soon as they got him into that coat!, his ideas for the Doctor were thrown out because his idea for a velvet costume looked to much what The Master wore, the coat was just too bad taste for that era it was the kind of thing.

  • colin is a nice guy the guy who knocked his tooth out is just patheic

  • @Loulovesdr Who did?!

  • That must have been between seasons as Time Lords can't grow beards. Or at least the fourth doctor said so.

  • I wonder if the actors who played the Doctors got fed up with having to emerge from the Tardis on all the tv appearances they made - such as this.

  • he had facial hair

  • I've met Colin Baker he is a warm and funny man, he seems quite nervous here compaired to when I met him, he was full of fun and kindness to us fans and made me feel very at ease. He will always be my favourite Doctor <3

  • Aw, it was nice seeing this interview. The 6th Doctor will always have a place in my heart. <3

  • Colin Baker gets a bad rap for his era, as he has proven on stage that he would have been an excellent Dr, given decent material.

The production team and the writing of the Jonathan Nathan-Turner era were the worst in WHO history, and that is the main cause of the steadily declining ratings over the entire JNT production time.

  • @coltperc I don't think JNT was a bad producer at all, the think was he just stayed on the series too long, this was mainly down to the BBC being unable to find an adequate producer who could replace and it was often a case of 'just one more series john', considering he ran from 1980-1989 I'm not surprised he made some mistakes

  • @LightningT5 Your point is a good valid one, in that JNT was pushed to remain on DW too long and basically "burned out" and ran out of ideas, with the result being DW in a steady ratings down-trend from the late Davison era onward. That does gives JNT reasons for being an ineffective producer.

BBC management is probably most to blame. Their cowardice in the face of criticism, denied DW the use of the enormously successful formula created in the Sladen/Baker/Hinchcliffe/Holmes era.

  • Unlike now schizoidboy. Tennants discription for something was "Slimmey timmey wimmey." what does that mean. Where as Cushing said. " Well electro kenetic theory states that space expands to accomidate the time nessesary to encompass it's dimentions." Much more like it.

  • @kezadrone it was wibbley wobbley timey wimey. it was just the easiest way he could think of to explain to the lay person.

  • I think one of the reasons the show was so successful was because it had excellent writing and actors which really stood out and didn't insult the intelligence of those who watched the show.

  • colin should of been the dcotor for longer... is he still alive?

  • I dunno who the least funny Colin Baker or Terry Wogan?

  • wow he has a nice american accent lol

  • This was on the trial of a timelord dvd box set. Baker was a better doctor than people remember.

  • I don't see why the Mandrel are classed as 'classic' monsters. They are brilliant ans should return in the new series.

  • Yup.

  • 0_o the doctor needs a shave...

  • I was always quite fond of Colin Baker. and the mandrels...

  • And OH GOD that wretched sea devil still has its head skew wiff 2 years after Warriors of the Deep!

  • is it me or does Colin look a lot like John Nathan Turner here?

  • Yes he does a bit LOL..it does look as if the Doctor has eaten one too many jelly babies lol

  • Wait, this host has been watching the show since he was a boy yet he doesn't know why the TARDIS is stuck as a police box?

  • Colin Baker, Bloody Brilliant!

  • I remember watching Colin Baker's first episodes as the Doctor, and absolutely HATING him - the gentle unassuming 5th Doc was gone, replaced by a sociopathic bully.

Time showed that Colin's doctor was the most poetic of all, and he introduced a wonderful arrogance not seen since Hartnell played the part. Shame he was scapegoated for poor ratings.

  • hear hear

  • WABBIT8 your bang on mate! Give me Colin and Pete (Davison) anyday.

What about that theme tune?!! Wot a load of old shit, fucking pissed, thick Welsh orchestra. Keff McCulloch's sounds like a John Williams composition in comparison.

And the Police box is shit. Why are the windows always lit up? Small but significant things like this all amount to its inferiority

  • Love Colin Baker! One of my favorites!

  • I liked this Doctor, mostly because he was clearly not just a clever human. This Doctor was quite strange and a bit cooky. Oh and VERY VERY ANGRY!!!

  • Micheal Grade (AKA Dick Head) sacked Colin, How great would it have been if he would have stayed on the show untill Silver Nemisis in 1988, before Syvester McCoy's doctor, and insted of the McCullach theme tune and titles, the Glynn titles and music, wouldn't that be great

  • I've always had a soft spot for Colin, a nicer bloke than he usually gets credit for.

  • Each to there own. Love Present Doctor Who. david works really well as the Doctor. Tim Shaw is a much better Presenter then Wogan however. Thanks for takeing the time to read/reply to my comments

  • Shut up Terry Wogan. You were not watching closely then. The shape of the TARDIS has been explaind many times. Colins my 2nd fav classic Doctor [Tom being number 1]. Shame poor Colins got to be interviewed by an over-rated ubtalented host twat.

  • Calm Down! Don't take it so seriously. Wogan has been one of the best chat show hosts ever. Not everybody watching would of known the facts about the Tardis. I agree Colin Baker was one of he best actors to play the part. The present day Doctor who is rubbish though!

  • I agree with you,Ispini. The present Dr Who stuff is just rubbish and the TARDIOS looks terrible. I love the old stuff and collect videos all the time. I will not a have videos of the new stuff. No Eccleston and no Tennant! It's crap! I met Colin a few years ago, and he is one of the loveliest people you could meet.
