Obama being born on US soil makes him a citizen but not a "natural born citizen" which is a precise term that has a precise meaning, being the natural people of a country, born of 2 citizen parents, analog to "indigenous population". You can give me the "Obama defense" that just 1 parent citizen is enough or just being born on US soil is enough, but you can't change the definition of "natural born" from what it always has been, and what it was intended to mean in the Constitution.

@OtherGonzo You'll have problems finding the definition of any term in the Constitution itself. You would need a law dictionnary or at least a regular dictionnary. It's easy to find how the term has been used throughout the history of english (and american) common law. In the Constitution it was intended to prevent children of foreigners becoming president. But the Obamabots will refuse any evidence that NBC doesn't mean what they want it to mean to protect their messiah. Very Orwellian....

In 1869 when a female suffragist declared that the 14th & 15th amendments gave women the right to vote, Bingham replied, "Madam you are not a citizen." His opinion on citizenship was contrary to historical precedent.

When the House Judiciary Committee in 1870 presented their majority and minority reports on whether the 14th & 15th amendments gave women the right to vote, they contradicted Bingham, the chairman of the committee. Both reports asserted that women born in the US and subject to the jurisdiction thereof are citizens, but citizenship does not mean you have the right to vote.

The 14th amendment didn't change the definition of natural born from what it was understood at the time of the Founding Fathers. You're just trying to make Obama eligible by ignoring the fact he has potential dual allegiances and that's exactly what the FF were trying to prevent. If they could see in the future they would have written it plainly so the Obamanation could not happen.

Obama's father never being a citizen nor planning to stay in the US means Obama may have been "naturalized at birth" but he wasn't a "natural born" as the Founding Fathers intended it. And every controversy that came up as to whether people were eligible to be president assumed the same meaning of the word and looked at the candidate's parentage and naturalization timeline. I have not seen any controversy relating to the definition of "natural born citizen", that is until Obama usurped the office and his lemmings are defending him.

De Vattel wrote in French, not English. As such there is no evidence that the phrase “natural-born citizen” ever was a product of either his lips or pen. What he actually wrote was, “Les Naturels ou indigènes font ceux qui font nés dans le pays de Parens Citoyens.”

@PatriotInChief Exactly, that is the highest level of natural citizenship, where you are considered part of the land you were born in, you are a real native, or natural born citizen. If you have a parent (especially a father) with allegiance to another power, you are not as much as a citizen as the former. Look at what John Bingham said about it, there was no controversy back then about needing one or 2 parents, it was clear to them "natural born" implied 2 citizen parents.
