It was caused mainly by a subprime meltdown and predatory lending which happened because the Bush aministration did everything but hand over the keys to the federal treasury to the damn S&Ls. If anyone in this day and age truly believes the president is able to simply have the people do his bidding, they need to think again. The problem at the moment seems to be that people are reacting to the blather they hear through the media (and I use that term loosely) rather than taking the time to find out what is and isn't accurate. Both sides have their issues -- but when it comes to healthcare reform we REALLY need to make some changes. People need to stop shouting and start listening!
