Oh my God!! I haven't really seen ER since Mark died- What happened to Carter? Why the heck does Jerry look like some sort of Gandalf/Papa Smurf love child?
I guess I have a lot of catching up to do.........
Me too...It just wasn't the same after Mark died. I'm trying to watch the final season, well at least the parts with the old people coming back...especially interested in the last episode since RAchel might be coming back as an intern. Full Circle.
Carter has renal failure caught a disease in Africa, and the other was taken out in the stabbing. Jerry took one or two to the chest and recovered. He moved to Alaska and came back this season. I hope Rachel comes back for a cameo. They sure do ignore the little people on ER. I have watched on and off for years and have been faithfully watching this year. It's kind of bittersweet.
His left kidney wasn't taken out after the stabbing. Benton and Anspaugh who operate on him are even happy that they managed to salvage his kidney. It was never mentioned until now that his damaged kidney stopped functioning.
I understand why one would quit watching ER after the trauma of Mark. But Carter was still a pro character and there was still some great stuff in the show until he left. He'a been off to Africa for a few years to do some soul searching...
As for Jerry I guess he was just trying something.
This show has the best and most consistent use of peripheral characters of any one hour drama.

I love how the caretaker is talking and the camera pulls back to see Carter just laying htere, listening...makes me smile...
