From this area the Celts started an migration throughout whole Europe which even led to a colony in nowaday's Turkey. Celtic warriors even fought as an military elite for the Egyptian Pharaohs. During the Roman and later Germanic expansions, Celtic tribes were romanized as well germanized until eventually only a small reminiscence could be found in Ireland/UK and small part of France.

But enjoying this music has nothing to do with having Celtic, Irish nor Scottish roots.

The point is unless you can trace your family back to one of those, you aren't Celtic so much as European Mutt.

But even the people we call Celts, have little in common with the ancient Celts. The problem is that during the 16th-19th centuries the (pre-)Romanticism of the Celts in music and literature have led to Celtic nationalism, which falsely suggest that modern Celts are related to ancient Celts.

The funniest thing about this song is that WBZ-TV (channel 4 in Boston) used this song in one of their commercials. Everyone wanted to know the name of the song they used. When they re-aired the ad they credited the band and the album - but they obviously couldn't give the name of the song on the air.

Trust me - they did. The Murphys are fairly mainstream in Boston. As you can tell from my nick, I am a graduate of Boston College. The organizers of an outdoor concert called Modstock wanted to have the Murphys perform - their opening song (For Boston) is actually a cover of the Boston College fight song. All was set, but the city of Boston denied them a license to perform!
