Arguing race, religion and culture is retarded and serves no purpose other than to divide us into "this" or "that." Its all trivial bullshit. Quoting facts from a history book is equally ridiculous. The only real truth is what you see with your own eyes. Lets go Murphys!
Song says "Bastards on Parade". And god knows we have plenty of bastards in need of a second chance around the world not to limit ourselves to our Celtic-descent share. All of you, with me and every other single soiled bastard in the world is intitled to march proudly over this song.
@mrhenryleopard Earliest traces of the Celts are found the European Alpes, today known as the Hallstatt-culture. From this area the Celts started an migration throughout whole Europe which even led to a colony in nowaday's Turkey. Celtic warriors even fought as an military elite for the Egyptian Pharaohs. During the Roman and later Germanic expansions, Celtic tribes were romanized as well germanized until eventually only a small reminiscence could be found in Ireland/UK and small part of France.
@brennand61 Being a Celt isn't only determined by blood, in this way every American would a Celt, since every American has European roots and every European has traces of the Celts in its DNA. Even at this moment there is a scientific debate whether the current Irish should be seen as a direct ancestor of the Celts, since the loss of the Celtic culture during the British domination in the last centuries. But enjoying this music has nothing to do with having Celtic, Irish nor Scottish roots.
@atomic116090 Not every European is Celtic. Celtic talks about the Germans, Irish, Scottish, French, British. Then you have the Norse in the north, the Spanish in the south, the list goes on. The point is unless you can trace your family back to one of those, you aren't Celtic so much as European Mutt.
@Ariuq94 You honestly don't know what ur talking about. Nowadays Germans are no Celts at all, the Celts once ruled all of Europe including Turkey, but this was before the rise of the Roman Empire. But even the people we call Celts, have little in common with the ancient Celts. The problem is that during the 16th-19th centuries the (pre-)Romanticism of the Celts in music and literature have led to Celtic nationalism, which falsely suggest that modern Celts are related to ancient Celts.
Funny enough, I like the part preceding 2:48 a lot more than the part following it...the tone matches the message more, I feel. At any rate, I love this tune.
Hey doombringer, bring more such doom! I just deeply like the sincerity and positive vibes in their songs. Be loyal to yourself, be loyal to your ideals and don't put a price tag onto your forehead like so many people do at some stage of their life.
Dropkick Murphys song are about my family and upbringing. Being Irish, beer, blue collar, the unions. ETC I can relate to their music on a much deeper level than any other band out there.
Oi love a song that makes you want to live. Loving my family loving my friends loving my life and loving me death im just one happy irish french candian lad...had a bit to many but hai love this thanks doombringer117.
The funniest thing about this song is that WBZ-TV (channel 4 in Boston) used this song in one of their commercials. Everyone wanted to know the name of the song they used. When they re-aired the ad they credited the band and the album - but they obviously couldn't give the name of the song on the air.
Trust me - they did. The Murphys are fairly mainstream in Boston. As you can tell from my nick, I am a graduate of Boston College. The organizers of an outdoor concert called Modstock wanted to have the Murphys perform - their opening song (For Boston) is actually a cover of the Boston College fight song. All was set, but the city of Boston denied them a license to perform!

all these people claiming to be celts are probably american, celts are solely from europe... stop fantasising

That's bullshit because everyone knows the Celts originate from China really.
Just ask my Celtic friend Paddy O'Chingchong.
