  • Not that I know of. However, the late Johnny Jones of the Swanee Quintet did perform and record with the Soul Stirrers.

  • you haven't heard his daughter!!! Bless Woman of God also!!!

  • You never, ever think that this type of music will grow on you-- it's funny as a kid--- but this is what gospel music was meant to be!

  • LOL @ HOLY! @ 9:52 mark

  • Oh how I love this music!!!!!

  • Im so glad you have heard other singers before. Most of the time no two people sound alike and GOD BLESS you too

  • He sounds good but is he the only person you have ever heard sing. Have you ever heard of Willie Neal Johnson,Lee Williams,Paul Foster and The Canton Spirituals just to name a few

  • Good faithful brothers. I am fortunate in my life

to have had close contact with many performers

in this genre, sang and played with them. That

    makes me...lucky white boy :)

  • any body can give me the title of this lovely song, please

  • Lift Him Up

  • i loved his holla lol

  • Have you ever heard of Paul Foster with the Soul Stirrers, Willie Neal Johnson of the gospel Keynotes, Henry Johnson (Blind Boys of Mississ.) Paul Arnold(Gospelaires) just to name a few

  • I love this video!! I listen to it everyday. If anyone has the video, I would love to purchase a copy. Rev. Jacox sung with power and the background harmonized beautifully!!

  • RIP MY FRIEND MARTIN! I enjoyed touring with you in Europe w/Gospel at Colonus!

  • what a classic

  • I loved me some Martin Jacox

  • Just brilliant any more please please.

  • I knew that guy. He knew my family. We called him "Horse" or "Hoss". When you here him sing, you know why he is called that. When I see him make those faces and dance, it brings back memories of my childhood. Yes he did pass away shortly after he became ordained to be a minister if I remember right.

  • wen did he pass

  • i love it...nothing like it

  • Sing it !!!!

I remember Martin Jacox and the Soul Stirrers from the Gospel at Colonus musical play.

  • Praise The Lord God Jesus...Holy Spirit power of God Jesus..This is the best soul searching Gospel i've heard. Thanks for getting this on here. Peace His Peace.

  • whew!!!!!I have a new favorite gospel singers! I am 28 and never have I heard that power that man could go high and low and it hit me all over! Who is he?

  • wow!!!! I didn't know the lead singer had died. I loved the way he sings ,with such conviction! Earth loss is Heavens gain!!!!!

  • i think martin jacox was the most intense lead singer in gospel history...it maybe a toss up between him and archie brownlee of the blind boys of mississippi.

  • where can I find his music and sermons?

  • These guys are good friends of my father. They are some REAL nice guys and are legends in gospel music!!!!!

  • you know where we could find more info on him?

  • I want to thank you very much for putting a video with Martin Jacox singing, I love to hear him lead, I love to hear the group. Do you know what year did Martin Jacox die, and how old was he. Do you have the video Live in Chicago.

  • Dshock11 you have blessed me.You dont know how long I've been trying to find this song

    YEARS!!!!

    God Bless you

  • This just makes my day

  • I really enjoy the original Soul Stirrers.

  • I liked this one and Dream of a city. They were really God-moving songs, My dad and I use to listen to them a lot.

  • Javetta is that you? Thede guys are LEDENDS!!!!! I love all of you who comment on this. Ya'll lets KEEP QUARTET ALIVE!!!!

  • No one had the sound of Martin Jacox.

  • No one and nobody still havent came close.

  • This song is one of my favorite from the Divine Love album which I still have. The other favorite of mine is "Dream of of a city"

but the song I love hearing him sing was "Keep toiling on". R.I.P Martin Jacox.

  • I loved to hear Martin sing Traveling On....And I loved to hear Sam sing any Gospel..Have you heard Sam sing ....Pray

  • Others have tried to copy and duplicate Sam but no one has come close. Now I do think that Willie Rodgers come close, but that's my opinion.

  • I have been looking for information on Martin & Willie but can't seem to find much on them I think this is by far the best lineup The Soul Stirrers not dissing the originals but after they started changing the members

  • What kind of info are you looking for?

  • i like to find some history on this group and also i want a dvd or vhs for their cd live in chicago

  • divine...........

  • martin was my cousin. he is a icon to gospel music. not only did he sing with the soul stirrers. he sang with his brothers the sons of jonah, the rest of my cousins.

  • RIP my friend I miss him. He was like my second DAD. We tour Europe with the play Gospel at Colonus and he was so much fun.

  • That was the soul stirrers when Martin died they got a friend of mine to take his place he sounds just like him but he left to go with Bill Pinkney Drifters(my group)but they was off the chain in those days!

  • @luv2cut1 I sang lead with the Soul Stirrers after Martin passed and when Willie was working with Rev. Jackson, you can hear me leading (typein larry hilton cooke 4), but hte other lead with us was awesome out of SC Reginald Funderburke...I use to call him One of the Untouchables....Wow....Cooke

  • thanks for this video, I saw this line up many times during the 80's, Jackie Banks, Ben Odon, J.J. Farley, Willie Rogers, and Martin Jacox, imo one of the best line ups the Soul Stirrers have ever had in their long history.
