I am disappointed that the RRS reps missed so many opportunities to refute their opponents' claims. Case in point: If their god is both perfectly good and all-knowing, then he knew his creation would "fall." Why would a perfect being create imperfect, "sinful" creatures he knew would have to be sent to hell? If he's perfect and good, why did he need to create beings to worship him in the first place?
God did not create sinful creatures. God created a holy creatures given the ability to make choices. I.E. Adam and Eve. They lived in the Garden of Eden as holy creatures and they chose to sin, thus creating a sinful nature passed down to their children, so on and so fourth.
I understand that, and I, as an ex-Catholic, used to believe it too! But my point is that if your god is indeed omnipotent, omniscient and omnibenevolent, then he created humans KNOWING they would sin, and basically acted against his own perfect and eternal nature, which is contradictory and impossible. Now I would like to ask an even more fundamental question: Why would such an entity create imperfect beings to worship him? Needing to be worshiped doesn't seem like a perfect attribute to me.

He cites a number of man-made items such as a Coca-Cola can and the building they're in as examples of items that necessitate a creator, and equates them to our messy universe, a universe which appears guided by nothing but the logic of physics. For this argument to be convincing the persuadable person must already view everything in our messy universe as being akin to a painting, or obviously designed, but at that point they're already convinced to begin with.

not much snow here in winter. mostly rain.
in sumers we have no nights, it just gets a little darker for a few hours,
some people cant sleep becuz of the endless day.
in winter we have short days. its dark most of the time.
some people here suffer from short-day depression
also known as SAD (seasonal affective disorder) because of
lack of daylight.
religion is not an issue in iceland.
politics and faith dont mix here.

Suffering wasnt removed with Jesus death he simply became the ultimate sacrifice for us so we would be able to spend eternity with him. also jesus said that we will have hard times in this even if we follow him he will just be there to help us through those times. Respectful?!? From the start they SPECIFICALLY promised to not use the bible to support their belief that God & Jesus are the creators of the Universe, intelligent design, etc.

I am disappointed that the RRS reps missed so many opportunities to refute their opponents' claims. Case in point: If their god is both perfectly good and all-knowing, then he knew his creation would "fall." Why would a perfect being create imperfect, "sinful" creatures he knew would have to be sent to hell? If he's perfect and good, why did he need to create beings to worship him in the first place?

God did not create sinful creatures. God created a holy creatures given the ability to make choices. I.E. Adam and Eve. They lived in the Garden of Eden as holy creatures and they chose to sin, thus creating a sinful nature passed down to their children, so on and so fourth.

I understand that, and I, as an ex-Catholic, used to believe it too! But my point is that if your god is indeed omnipotent, omniscient and omnibenevolent, then he created humans KNOWING they would sin, and basically acted against his own perfect and eternal nature, which is contradictory and impossible. Now I would like to ask an even more fundamental question: Why would such an entity create imperfect beings to worship him? Needing to be worshiped doesn't seem like a perfect attribute to me.

He cites a number of man-made items such as a Coca-Cola can and the building they're in as examples of items that necessitate a creator, and equates them to our messy universe, a universe which appears guided by nothing but the logic of physics. For this argument to be convincing the persuadable person must already view everything in our messy universe as being akin to a painting, or obviously designed, but at that point they're already convinced to begin with.

kriks closing statement shouldn't have been made, seeing as how they originally stated that they where going to provide SCIENTIFIC evidence for god, without even mentioning the bible in their argument.
they have both failed to do so, by not providing scientific evidence and using the bible in their arguments.

By producing something other than himself, it would have to be imperfect. Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to make a distinction.

According to the bible, before eating the apple, man did not know good from evil (right from wrong). Man did not know that disobeying God by eating the apple was wrong, but God banishes him from the garden of Eden because he did something wrong by disobeying God. Does that make sense to anyone else?
