DatsiK has his theory about it evolving from reggae and 2 step a long time ago, others think it just began in late 90's. Point is just that you don't know for sure where "dubstep" came from so stop acting like you do.

@LayceHD Yes, Dubstep came from 2-step and garage. In around 1999, mayyybe 1998. Horsepower Productions, Hatcha, Skream, and Digital Mystikz were the first producers to start playing this style of music. They themselves have many times spoken about its incarnation and the history of dubstep. Which is obviously something that all the datsik and skrillex loving fans know NOTHING about. Plus, the old school style dubstep is sooo beautiful, and so musical, so much talent. Not this wobble filth shit

Whether or not you like it is your opinion but you cant say production quality on a technical level has gone down. Im not at all trying to defend the in your face distorted wobbles that seems to be taking over a lot of dubstep but at the same time a lot of people who hate on Skrillex/datsik do so because of his fan base and nothing else.

@Sinskb Oh for sure, the production value is definitley much much higher. But in my mind that isn't necessarily a good thing. The lower production quality of the oldies adds so much too it. Now-a-days, whether its old school style dubstep (which plenty of producers are still making) or new wobble stuff, it all has fairly good production quality. I do agree on a technical level production has seen major developments, but from a standpoint of musical development, not so much.

@karnhall Well everyone has there own opinion of where Dubstep was created, I in fact believe it was created in London early 2000 ish, with it related strongly towards the Jamaican culture, like Dub etc but then it also crosses genre's with Garage and House but them in a mixer you got yourself Dubstep ;) Skream being 1 of my favourite Dubstep producers, I feel he changed Dubstep from 2 Step to create a new vibe. I just don't like how Dubstep is sounding now, What sort of music do you DJ?

I guess this is the bi-product of the consumer age, we are spoilt for choice and everyone is a critic, so many haters! My mate Kerry pointed out Dubstep from 1986; search 'Smith Mighty Brain Scan' on youtube.

I play mainly House these days but host a full time radio show which is pretty eclectic.
