Backyard ice rink zamboni 2009

Are those just standard grass cutting blades? What sort of modifications, if any, did you have to make to the mower?

Would you do anything differently now that you've used it?

It looks fantastic, and I am planning on making one myself, just trying to get some ideas from people who have made them before I make mine.

@valium1995 Nope, if you look at the zamboni, the 'broom' is behind the chains so imo it shouldn' ruin the ice. But this is coming from a 16 year old so why would you listen to me x)

maybe the pump is attached to the pto? maybe the blades are low enough to auger up some snow like an actual working zamboni?

I have a truckmount carpet cleaning unit and when I have my ice down I start the truckmount. The water is at 300 psi and the temp is about 190 and it makes the best ice EVER. People have said they have never skated on ice that smooth. I spray it blue, and on the snow bank I put up my sign "IceStralia" and put two gum boots into the snow and put up another sign "no diving" People love it and we have fun. Yes I am from Australia.

Been thinking of building one of these.. 2 questions though: Any reason you left the mower deck attached? Pretty simple to take it off. And those tire chains don't chew into the ice? I would think they are worth more harm than good. Let me know :)
