My school system uses only Apple products. I use iPads, Apple desktops, and laptops all the time. I go to stores and try them out for hours, but there is something about Macs that just annoys me. I think maybe it just has to do what computers you grow up with. Honestly in this day and age children grow up with computers. If you grow up in an Apple atmosphere, you'll most likely like them more. If you grow up with Windows, you'll probably like them better. I just really like the start button :D

@jasystems Having a PC is like having a pet, take care of it and it will still run in mint condition. I have an 800 Mhz, 256 RAM from late 90s and it runs windows XP faster than my friends new Mac 10.4 :), but macs can take lots of abuse and still run decently

I would prefer to see each system with a totally fresh load of the OS to determine which one actually boots faster. I don't care if it is Windows or OS X, but you need to have systems at the same state (ie; fresh load of os and for windows all stable drivers loaded).

Samsung took a bit faster to "start up" but how about loading programs? The wifi options window on the Mac popped up way before Samsung, signaling all background loading was done. And how long did it take for the same window to show up on windows? Yeah, no one seems to notice that :P

Why u compare notebooks for boot time? I think u must compare keyboard, display, materials, graphics, processor and other things that really help for comfortable working!

When you invest money on a computer/laptop/phone/tablet you are putting money down. Think of the long run, "Will this thing maintain its investment to me?" Not really fair. When the Mac's home screen is displayed, its loaded and ready to go. With Win7 the home screen is displayed but its still loading and starting services in the background.
You forget one thing. That Windows does not load all applications on startup as the Mac OS system does. So you have always has to wait to work on a Windows system because not all files are loaded on startup.
They can't be competitors because Macintosh OS and Windows OS are two completely different systems. Boot time is truly irrelevant (unless the time is considerably longer; it's not). The Apple computer price tags is the problem and I am sure everyone agrees on that. That's why I SWITCHED to Windows. Plain and simple.
The operating of both is native to me, I love the price tag of Windows machines and will own one until Apple decides to be more generous w/ their prices, which they will not.

The main reason why the Samsung Series 9 laptop beat the Macbook Air because the CPU is faster. I do agree with you about the Application side but the "Apps" are an other way to make money after purchase for apple.

Why don't they give CDs with an installer of those programs and let the user decide what they want to install? Or let the user download the extras from the web if they want to, once they power on the machine? It is OUR money we should be able to choose what we want in our computer.

Samsung took a bit faster to "start up" but how about loading programs? The wifi options window on the Mac popped up way before Samsung, signaling all background loading was done. And how long did it take for the same window to show up on windows? Yeah, no one seems to notice that :P

My 2 year old iMac, which I use it above norm and not a single issue, problem, and anything. No crashes, nothing. No need to take it and pay extra to get it fixed and looked at. It's pathetic how you can place Windows or anything up against an Apple OS. Just crazy... leave it alone and let it rest.

When you invest money on a computer/laptop/phone/tablet you are putting money down. Think of the long run, "Will this thing maintain its investment to me?" Every PC or Android operating system I have come across and owned (Windows OS)... let just say, "Nightmare" within the first year. Crashing, viruses, and anti-viruses just to keep it safe (but they freaking slow it down), and all the other firewall crap, bloatware and junk.
My sisters 3 year old Mackbook still runs just as well from day 1.

This is the typical brainwashing done by Apple inc. Do you even realise Apple doesn't manufacture every single part of the Air? Most of the components are manufactured by any other companies that manufacture the same parts for Windows computers.

Not really fair. When the Mac's home screen is displayed, its loaded and ready to go. With Win7 the home screen is displayed but its still loading and starting services in the background.

You forget one thing. That Windows does not load all applications on startup as the Mac OS system does. So you have always has to wait to work on a Windows system because not all files are loaded on startup.

They can't be competitors because Macintosh OS and Windows OS are two completely different systems. Boot time is truly irrelevant (unless the time is considerably longer; it's not). The Apple computer price tags is the problem and I am sure everyone agrees on that. That's why I SWITCHED to Windows. Plain and simple.
The operating of both is native to me, I love the price tag of Windows machines and will own one until Apple decides to be more generous w/ their prices, which they will not.

some of you guys are missing the point. this isn't a windows versus apple comparison. it's a which-laptop-boots-faster comparison. the load time of a mobile device has become a huge factor for consumers recently. that's one reason why tablets are taking off, because they load almost instantly, and now manufacturers of laptops are trying to make their laptops load as fast as possible

this is two new computer, but mac always boot in same time. After one week you wait 15 min to boot windows , now is new clean system without autostart apps.
I have mac 5 years and always boot in half minutes. But i have windows to and after 3 days , computer with windows boot 3 times longer. with linux boot in same time on this machine. this is difrends.

@LitleDevilsSince1960 You are forgetting that the new laptop will come with bloatware slowing down the laptop. So they are playing on even ground. The main reason why the Samsung Series 9 laptop beat the Macbook Air because the CPU is faster. I am guessing the Macbook Air should be a early 2011 refresh it should be realtivly new considering the date of the video. I do agree with you about the Application side but the "Apps" are an other way to make money after purchase for apple.

@Megapead Half of the software most computers bring is junk that most of their users don't want. Why don't they give CDs with an installer of those programs and let the user decide what they want to install? Or let the user download the extras from the web if they want to, once they power on the machine? It is OUR money we should be able to choose what we want in our computer.

I am tired of re-installing my OS every time I buy a new computer.Also they should remove the restore partition from the HDD and give us an install disk like Dell does to us, it's one of the things that bothered me when I bought my Vaio. I ended up having to write the disk myself which is not very fair since the disk had to be DL.
