I agree, from the clips I've seen, I see nothing wrong with Ackerman's performance as Laurie so far as well as the rest of the cast. It's seems like critics are judging her on her past films like Herald and Kumar or 27 Dresses instead of taking her seriously here.
This is a great example of an actor. An actor should be able to cover different kinds of roles. In H&K, she was just a wife who was a kind of slut as well, and I didn't see 27 Dresses or Comeback Kid or w/e it was with Steve Carrell. My point being, is that an actor should be able to cover different types of roles, which makes them an even better actor. In fact, some of the reviews I've read said that she did good.
I love when Manhattan screams "Blake!" even though he just stood there in the graphic novel it is kinda cool to see him care enough to try and stop blake but not change the overall outcome by just stoping him from killing her.
how would they leave all of that stuff out? its crucial to the whole plot, the story would fall apart without its most gratuitous scenes. they are necessary for the greater good.
Ok, gratuitous means unnecessary. Calling an unnecessary scene necessary is a contradiction. Christ, do people actually look up the definition before they use words they don't even know just to sound smart?
Dude, shut the fuck up. He meant necessary for the plot later in the movie. If you saw the movie you'd know this. Stop trying to make YOURSELF sound smart by putting other people down.

I can't believe they're actually keeping the scene from the book where the Comedian kills the Vietnamese woman.
