I would have preferred the first Vietnamese elected to congress to be a democrat or another party other than republican. The older generation of Vietnamese are known to support the republican party because they equate the iraq war to the vietnam war and see Americans as liberators. However, the younger generation of vietnamese americans are much more liberal and the GOP doesn't represent them. I'm vietnamese american and the republican party doesn't share the same values with me.
