I updated to 2.3 on my desire last week and found my signal fluctuates very frequently, more often than not leaving me with no signal. Has anyone else experienced this since the update?
Huge thanks for this! 2.2 was REALLY annoying me and Vodafone (UK) are slow on releasing their own version. I've now got 2.3 running on my Desire and its a LOT quicker too!
I watched the video, I installed the 2.3.3 version of Android (Gingerbread) everything works fine no problem:) only problem is a boot or I do not know what to call, I mean the button on the startup + (volume -) at the start: s, if anyone has a solution please give me the e thank you in advance
thank you so much for this. i have looked all over the place to find this android 2.3.3, and now........ thanks to you, i finally got it. million BIIIIIIIG thanks to you for this help. it works PERFECTLLY :D
@SqeakyGoldfish What are you crapping anyway, this is for the DESIRE - not the Desire S. And NO they didn't' say that, you just listened to idiots who didn't know what they were talking about (or read it wrong)
@marathivideo No its not rooting the actually its reverse. Right now if you put on this update the HBOOT will be locked so no reverse to older versions or anything.
This is awesome. Exactly what I was looking for, a professionally done upgrade. Thanks! Now, can you please make one more video showing us the differences between the previous version of android and this one on the Desire itself and also if it will be possible to root the device after this upgrade? Would you suggest to just do this upgrade or root the Desire and what are the benefits of both. Thanks and I would really appreciate a response to all these questions. I follow all your videos.
@KissTheMoonFromMe If your launcher runs like shit on your 2.2 Desire, then your doing something wrong. I have a 2.2 desire, and know many with one, and they all have no issue with speed whatsoever. I havent personally even bothered with 2.3 as there is nothing to be gained. As far as WP7, every person i know who ran out and bought one, quickly are back on Android. It's crap, and the numbers speak for themselves.
I've got it on mine! Its a lot faster, but the battery life still isn't very good. I've had no problems thus far either. :) The only thing that has gone from the phone is some HTC Background images and some pointless apps that HTC had installed which if you want can be installed from the Market.
@goodyear250 Actually HTC Flashlight is one of my favorite app and they removed while the foorprints stayed and I think only opened once when I bought the phone..
@kreutzere Yeah I agree, but as I have done, the .apk is included with the Gingerbread installation pack. So all you need to do is hook your Desire into the computer and select HTC Sync on the device and computer. Then on the overview there is a application installer, use this to install the Flashlight app. Hope that helps. :)
@KissTheMoonFromMe Then you are the idiot, not HTC (for buying a useless WIndows Phone). HTC realized the limitations of the memory on this, and rather than pusing out something that would most likely run like dogfood and cause people many issues, they did this. I give them kudos for doing this, atleast they had the common curtsey to provide those interested with a way to get Gingerbread.
So it's not really worth it is it? Better wait for someone to create a custom ROM out of it? I installed CM7 in the meantime...it's really cool. I miss some of the sense features but meh.
@Samwongcs read some reviews and while one website stated you have a little more internal than before and apps putted on sd are taking much less memory from it than other said it takes 20megs more from internal so you have even less space... cant decide which one is true...
I read someone said 128MB free.. I remember after upgraded my Milestone to 2.2, I had 190MB user storage and there was 50MB more than my wife's Desire 2.2... There was around 140MB on a brand new Desire 2.2.. Maybe I'm wrong.
@kreutzere Ha! You must be right. I'm quite sure I had 50MB more storage on my Milestone than my wife's Desire. so, 140MB & 90MB sounds more reasonable. Thanks~~
@kreutzere I was right. I searched and found one of my messages posted on a discussion forum... After update my Milestone to 2.2.1 there was 19xMB free for user storage, while the Desire just got 147MB at that time. So... I think I'm not going to update my Wife's Desire to Gingerbread then.
@mclogitech87 It's a lot faster than Froyo and there's a few interesting updates/fixes they made to Sense, the flip clock now works properly like on Windows Mobile Devices and applications now fade out instead.
I know what you mean though but the overall speed increase of the OS over Froyo is worth the downgrade of Sense.
@ruhulaminutube yes I want to see the same. And if you could please show us the available memory on phone difference on a 2.2 and a 2.3. If it really goes low no point to update because its already extremely low...
My goodness, have you not heard of screen capture?
I agree with a lot of folks below...custom ROMs are a better option than HTC's sorry excuse for a good update. Anyone who cares enough will take the time to find a good ROM and learn how to flash it.
