  • @childhoodgigi How did it go? I got mine in Taiwan and would like to keep English and Chinese languages intact.

  • i liked it !! short and sweet Thank you :-)

  • I thought they said the update would remove HTC Sense. If it doesn't, then... well, why do I care? I have the Desire S.

  • @SqeakyGoldfish What are you crapping anyway, this is for the DESIRE - not the Desire S. And NO they didn't' say that, you just listened to idiots who didn't know what they were talking about (or read it wrong)

  • working great! all things working!!

  • too bad it doesnt work on the U.S.Cellular version :(

  • @DrClutchin It doesn't? :O

  • @SHAGGYSPAGECHANNEL iv tried a few times still wont work, the RAM versions are different

  • @DrClutchin Oh man sucks big time... mine doesn't either... it keeps saying "sending..."

  • @DrClutchin mmm I don't think so... we are always left in the dust...

  • will this root the phone? as i need phone to be rooted... with this update!!

  • @marathivideo No its not rooting the actually its reverse. Right now if you put on this update the HBOOT will be locked so no reverse to older versions or anything.

  • Bchbb ch nnvj

  • You should show the free internal storage space after update!

  • @Szata76 why? is it so damn small?

  • @123macedonia Yes, if You use it real.

  • This is awesome. Exactly what I was looking for, a professionally done upgrade. Thanks! Now, can you please make one more video showing us the differences between the previous version of android and this one on the Desire itself and also if it will be possible to root the device after this upgrade? Would you suggest to just do this upgrade or root the Desire and what are the benefits of both. Thanks and I would really appreciate a response to all these questions. I follow all your videos.

  • the website is htcdev.com and not htc (dot) dev.com

  • @KissTheMoonFromMe If your launcher runs like shit on your 2.2 Desire, then your doing something wrong. I have a 2.2 desire, and know many with one, and they all have no issue with speed whatsoever. I havent personally even bothered with 2.3 as there is nothing to be gained. As far as WP7, every person i know who ran out and bought one, quickly are back on Android. It's crap, and the numbers speak for themselves.

  • I've got it on mine! Its a lot faster, but the battery life still isn't very good. I've had no problems thus far either. :) The only thing that has gone from the phone is some HTC Background images and some pointless apps that HTC had installed which if you want can be installed from the Market.

I'd recommend to anyone to upgrade to 2.3.3 :)

  • @goodyear250 Actually HTC Flashlight is one of my favorite app and they removed while the foorprints stayed and I think only opened once when I bought the phone..

  • @kreutzere Yeah I agree, but as I have done, the .apk is included with the Gingerbread installation pack. So all you need to do is hook your Desire into the computer and select HTC Sync on the device and computer. Then on the overview there is a application installer, use this to install the Flashlight app. Hope that helps. :)

  • @KissTheMoonFromMe Then you are the idiot, not HTC (for buying a useless WIndows Phone). HTC realized the limitations of the memory on this, and rather than pusing out something that would most likely run like dogfood and cause people many issues, they did this. I give them kudos for doing this, atleast they had the common curtsey to provide those interested with a way to get Gingerbread.

  • So it's not really worth it is it? Better wait for someone to create a custom ROM out of it? I installed CM7 in the meantime...it's really cool. I miss some of the sense features but meh.

  • how much user storage do you have after upgraded to Gingerbread?

  • @Samwongcs read some reviews and while one website stated you have a little more internal than before and apps putted on sd are taking much less memory from it than other said it takes 20megs more from internal so you have even less space... cant decide which one is true...

  • @kreutzere

I read someone said 128MB free.. I remember after upgraded my Milestone to 2.2, I had 190MB user storage and there was 50MB more than my wife's Desire 2.2... There was around 140MB on a brand new Desire 2.2.. Maybe I'm wrong.

  • @Samwongcs Funny when I bought my Desire out of box I had something like 90megs or maybe even less...

  • @kreutzere Ha! You must be right. I'm quite sure I had 50MB more storage on my Milestone than my wife's Desire. so, 140MB & 90MB sounds more reasonable. Thanks~~

  • @kreutzere I was right. I searched and found one of my messages posted on a discussion forum... After update my Milestone to 2.2.1 there was 19xMB free for user storage, while the Desire just got 147MB at that time. So... I think I'm not going to update my Wife's Desire to Gingerbread then.

  • @Samwongcs wow then my desire is messed up big time. Im sure I never seen anything more than 100 megs.

  • same old sense interface !!!!!

    bullshit HTC

  • But the Sense version is 1.6?!?!?! This is a joke!!! Thumbs down for HTC!!!

  • @mclogitech87 There is a reason for that, Sense 3.0 won't fit into the limited space that the Desire has.

  • @act0780 Sure! I know that! In fact i thought that they wolud install the 2.1 version...But i was wrong...

  • @mclogitech87 It's a lot faster than Froyo and there's a few interesting updates/fixes they made to Sense, the flip clock now works properly like on Windows Mobile Devices and applications now fade out instead.

I know what you mean though but the overall speed increase of the OS over Froyo is worth the downgrade of Sense.

  • Im so disappointed with HTC. I been waited so long for air update. I decided to root it with EVO 3D root.

  • Just s-off and flash custom ROM. It's way better.

  • what about the desire hd

  • Can you please show us what changed and whether its worth taking this route.

  • @ruhulaminutube yes I want to see the same. And if you could please show us the available memory on phone difference on a 2.2 and a 2.3. If it really goes low no point to update because its already extremely low...

  • My goodness, have you not heard of screen capture?

I agree with a lot of folks below...custom ROMs are a better option than HTC's sorry excuse for a good update. Anyone who cares enough will take the time to find a good ROM and learn how to flash it.

  • why cant the RUU programme find my phone? how should I connect the Htc with my pc, only charge, use as disk drive or what?

  • (and YES LeeDroid has Gingerbread)

  • Does it work for inspire 4g

  • This is shit! A LOT BETTER SOLUTION;

    1- Go to XDA Developers

2- Download LeeDroid Latest ROM that is faster, more BATTERY LIFE, get your more space and newer and better htc sense

    3- Root your phone

    4- Partition your SD card

5- Clear data, cache and flash your phone in the recovery mode

6- Reboot your phone (first boot takes like 5-10min)

    7- YOU'RE HAPPIER THEN EVER!!!

  • I got my update for my g2 last week...

  • IS THAT THE GUY FROM PHONEARENA ???

  • Does this work for mac?

  • @TheGALR bootcamp ... it seems like the only way . htc doesnt give a crap about mac , like most devs out there .

  • I'm still waiting for bootloader update unlocked for my desire from HTC via HTCdev.

  • @biggerben2010 I heard it will only come to HTC Sensation, Sensation 4G and EVO 3D. Ofcourse could be just false information.

  • does this only work on unlocked desires or will it work on any desire?

  • Is new Sense included?

  • @Sirees333 No

  • Is it really worth it?

  • @tadghhickey1993 hell yeah it's faster, looks better and you can send apps to the SD card :D

  • @csmgscs

Hello, is it every apps also can be moved?

  • @henryee yep

  • @koraipl usually its over the air which means you don't have to plug it in to the computer .. ios has to plug in.. and its a firmware update for ios not software

  • could someone benchmark this or make a video about this rom, please

  • does it work on inspire 4g

  • @tybodawson619 No it won't, this is Desire specific.

  • Same thing happened with the Motorola Backflip when it upgraded to eclair. Now I'm on cm7 :)

  • just do a custom rom and flash it with LeeDrOiD 2.3.3 gingerbread HD with HTC sense rom

  • Great video!

  • @koraiple android haves also updates over the air but this is an free to do update, you dont have to do it

  • When I plug in the USB what should I sync it as, hard disks drive, charge etc

  • Comment removed

  • This is why i love updating software on my iPhone :-)

  • @koraipl but your iphone updates are only updates they steal from cydia....

  • can i put this update in my HTC hero ?

  • @pedroptga1 No, you can't. It's a Desire-specific update.

  • YAAAY thanks <3333333

  • Have HTC released the Kernel Source Code for the Desire yet?

  • @Nigelngd did you watch the video

  • @hokko1 Not interested in the update, just wanted to know when the Kernel Source Code will be released so that my HD2 can Have Gingerbread with Sense, without any graphical glitches.

  • hello

  • first

  • @taisermig Nobody gives a shit.

  • @Nigelngd :P
