For the record, Eric Clapton has never recorded a version of this song.

I just searched and searched, and found a movie soundtrack released in 1999 where Clapton was credited with most of the tracks and Classical Gas was on the album. However, the liner notes state that Mason Williams wrote and performed the track. I still insist that Clapton has never recorded this song.
