This scooter cost $900 new? Bad idea to buy any new scooter costing less than $1500 - with scooters, you get what you pay for. Did this scooter come with a full 2 year parts AND service warranty, as any decent scooter will have? Is there a local scooter shop who will maintain and repair the scooter for you? Many scooter shops will refuse to work on cheap scooters, because after you fix them, they don't STAY fixed. Better brands are Honda, Vespa, Yamaha, Kymco, SYM, Genuine, TGB and Aprilia

Bad idea learning to ride a scooter on a road with traffic. Way better to practice in a large parking lot. Also, it is worth it to take a scooter safety class, as offered by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation - it doesn't cost that much, and it will help to save your neck. Also, for gawd's sake, wear gloves when you ride!!!! If you fall, you're going to automatically put out your hands to break your fall, and your hands will get seriously grated if you don't have gloves on!

@cheezgrated This is like Deja Vu. Many years ago (1976) my girlfriend wanted to ride my Suzuki 185. I gave her what I thought were pretty good instructions and even held the bike while she got on. She rode a few yards, braked, then balanced for a second and fell over. She FORGOT TO PUT HER FEET DOWN. That was the last time a female ever rode any of my bikes.

@dkw12002 It's fun to watch at a motorcycle school, where the bikes can be freely dropped. Grab a few lawn chairs and drinks. But yeah, it was a terrifying experience at first on a motorcycle. Way too much stuff on my mind. Panic with the throttle on and the thing charges towards the weeds. :)

You got the colour I wanted! Honda called it "Juice"...but they don't make 'em in that colour anymore. I have a 2009 Metropolitan in "Ocean" blue metallic and creme white. Have fun with it!

I rode a Honda Metropolitan Scooter in my motorcycle instruction class, and it handled quite well. I liked the idea that it was equipped with a kick starter because the electric starter had troubles at times. Compared to my Honda Elite 80 the Metropolitan had better tires too. I highly reccommend this scooter to anyone. You can find alot of them used with low mileage under $1500.00.
