i would like to point out that saam missiles are some of the best air to air missiles in the game. this is because they have better turning radius then Qaam missiles or xlaa missiles.

now, before some stupid troll/hater screams out "u cant use thoses misslezors on dis missien cuz of da targetin circle" i KNOW that, they are not good in this mission cause you cant evade well while using them. thats the only thing that keeps them from being the best missiles in the game

if you dont shoot any of the E-767, the mission will get harder with more Su-47s comming after you, that my friend, is intense!! Shooting the E-767s is just an easier way of getting an "S", but its more of a challenge to finish off the Jammers last.

@bammargera12345 - Yes, it's hard as hell, especially on campaign mode, where you have to choose a plane which can crack the fortress AND defeat these hordes of enemy-planes coming on you. I once heard an A-10 USAF-pilot say, he changes flight-height and direction every 2secs - that's what keeps you alive here

1. Play on any difficulty Normal or Higher

2. Kill EVERYTHING except 1 plane (it might be dependent on which type of plane you leave too but I'm not sure)

3. Fly over to the corner, the plane should be there.

The only other thing I could think of is maybe run down the mission clock a bit or something. Personally I've never had an issue getting it to show up.

The true challenge is to beat these guys in hard or ace mode

The only way to get then down is to get very close behind then and fire 2 missiles with no chance to dodge... i tried 10 times before get this done.

Remember u come to this one after passing for the fortress so u will have ground weapons that are useless on this mission... the cool on it is to play on campaing mode, not free missions.

you're just supposed to retreat to the east

and GET AWAY, check ur map and there will be a line on the EAST SIDE. You are supposed to retreat to there like they tell you too NEAR THE BEGINNING

That's only if you just want to finish the level, but if you want to get an S rank on it (which is required for unlocking certain aircraft) you need to kill everything.

I think that's a setting you have to pick when you start a new campaign, it's like normal controls vs beginner controls. You can probably change it in the options menu as well no need to "unlock" it.

FYI, you don't really need a ground attack plane to beat mission 18, just setup your wingmen with ground attackers while you fly the air to air fighter, most of the combat is done with regular missiles anyways.

It is smart to destroy the 767 plane first. Because it jamms your radar, creating new enemies on the radar that are not really there.

You would've died if this was on ace since getting hit equates game over. But still pretty good tutorial. IIRC, I used the raptor for fortress, which transferred here. Then, I used XMAA to shoot down several planes when they first appear, and used eyesight rather than radar to distinguish the ghosts from the real planes, except when my wingman wounds a plane--then it's obvious. Found it too troublesome to look for the E-767.

Its an old jet, its the one in all the movies i just like it. sure the f-22 is awesome as can be, but i still like the f-14, kind of more of a challenge. you get su-37 by maxing out the su-47's experience or whatever u wanna call it.

I beat Ace Combat 5 100% all missions S ranked on all difaculty lvls. I have 4 of every aircraft including 4 Falkens and 4 X-02 Wayverns. + All paintjobs for each aircraft... it took me 6 months to get all this and I consider myself somewhat of an expert in Ace Combat 5... btw Ace Combat 6 is one of the worst Ace Combats there is. Only 15 missions and 16 planes plus the lip synking really sucks in the cut scenes. WTF NAMCO/BANDAI?

You need to accomplish the Mission "Four Horsemen". You know the one where you have to destroy the four radars first and then the factory. After that you get the SU-27.

To get the Su-32 and the Su-35 you need to fill the killbar of the su-27 (play as often as possible with the su-27^^)

This guy has an okay idea of what to do... just remember, this mission is overrated. Don't put too much pressure on yourself, and start out using a higher-tier plane. Start on medium and work your way up. I first beat it on 'S' in Ace with the Typhoon... it's not that difficult if you have a good feel for the plane and know what to do... which is what this guy is explaining.

Cool! You did it pretty nice. I achived this mission with the Typhoon, one of my favorites, and in Ace mode with 33,400 of score. I still don't have the SU-37, but when I get it i'm gonna try with it.

Use super hornet(or something with similar secondary weapon)and get to centre of the map. Keep an eye on top of HUD!!! When bar on top of it is solid-you are getting closer to her location. After jamming plane appears(and is shoot down) circle that area using HUD bar, and beeping noice of Nagase transmiter. When she says: BLAZE. Move as fast as you can to evac helicopter, and PROTECT it at all cost. AH-64 are your priority cause if they fire missiles it's mission failed.

I have a question in the free mission mode when you use a jet does the kill bar record the kills in the mission or does it stay the same? I want to unlock all the F-16 variants but I don't want to keep beating the game over and over again, can i just use the free mission mode to unlock the other variants

Free mission is best way to do it. Just pick one with plenty of enemy planes, ground targets and play it several times.

I can get an S rank on this using a MiG-21bis. I can play it all the way through. The rockets are really useful when you do the trick where you nearly stall and cause your enemies to shoot past. you just switch to rockets and blow 'em away.

i agree with vajkleone, i like to fly high and above the 8492 then descend just enough for them to attack me but high enough so im in range of the e-767. then i take him out and am able to make multiple head on shots at enemys when i dive.

In Ace Combat 5:The Unsung War, what are the things you must do in the game to get all, or most of the colours for the aircraft in the game? Especially the SU-37 Scheme (Yellow Sq.) which is my favorite aircraft.

It is alot quicker if you just run like hell. not as admirable, but there is no benefit in fighting them that I see. Try ducking and weaving, I have done it with the A-10 on Hard setting and will be trying it on Ace setting.

if its the 1st time you run through the game it can help by getting early points to unlock better craft etc. how ever, other than that, yes there is no real benifit. I did exactly what you said, reached a really high altitude early, then decended gradually at bout 30deg angle which speeds you up, thus you reach higher speed and beat the mission. However AC6 is out, has much hard mission than this, plus i could bet he had on easy, jst by looking at AI flight skill.
